  1. Risk taker. Hope it pays off. Still, it is a lease, can walk away any time. It's not as if he owns them.
  2. Tough <deleted>. Should have carried out a proper risk assessment before taking the punters' money. Do not, repeat, do not repeal the instruction to Insurance companies. They made their bed, now they must lie in it.
  3. Perhaps it is the other way round. The vaccinated can still be infected, but the vaccines reduce the impact. Perhaps If a vaccinated person who is assymptomatic visits an unvaccinated person, the former will infect the latter, and the unvaccinated person is at greater risk of dying. So perhaps the person saying he and his wife will not visit his unvaccinated mother in law is protecting her, rather than his family.
  4. For goodness sake. 17 tonnes is but a grain of sand, if it is aid. Not only that, the Junta, a military Junta that suspended a legitimately elected civilian government, is supporting another military Junta. Oh, I forgot, there were elections in Thailand and it legitimized everything. Not a Junta anymore. The Myanmar military dictatorship will, if it is aid, make sure it will never get to anyone who need it in various states. Rakhine, Shan, Chin, and the Karen people to name a few. If it is other than aid, as some suspect, it will arrive in these areas and kill and main these people faster than anything. And the Thai government know this, with both aid and the other stuff. Support your local military dictatorship and Junta. Because, you never know when you'll need them.
  5. No they won't. No points taken off licenses. No one to stop them to take points off their license. How you going to do that, huh? Plod going to get off their big fat shiny behinds and patrol the roads? Hah. 3 pickups and one lorry ran a red light this afternoon at the junction of the 24 and 221. Where were Plod, where are the red light cameras? Don't make me laugh.
  6. Shut up, will you? Just shut the <deleted> up. No one believes you, so what's the point?
  7. As someone a lot more famous than me once said: The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
  8. And in addition to the above, cultures evolve and change. But only if the climate to permit change is in place. Those in power are never privy to the real culture of a place.
  9. I haven't figured out what my country's culture is yet, never mind trying to figure out Thai culture. I do know though, me first, last and always is rife, as is abuse and violence if rule number one is not obeyed. Is this culture?
  10. Domain name for sale. Admin busted, big boys probably out of country and untouchable.
  11. And there you have the nub....it's ok, you ran into him but he ran the light. Had he done this to another person, injured or killed them? No insurance, maybe no license, maybe no redress to the injured party. Ah, but it's ok, this is, after all, Thailand.
  12. No they are not. And the so called western world is not always right. The whole issue hacks me off no end. If a UN body approved the vaccine, why the <deleted> can't countries run with it? Why do they have to be different? What's the point of a WHO approval? It's pathetic and puerile. Kindest regards, Grumpy Old Man...
  13. Once again. Countries go their own way. If the WHO approved it, why do countries not? If Sinbad and sinopharm are good enough for entry into Switzerland, why was he refused and why can't anyone get a covid cert? It reminds me of aviation regulations. All driven by a UN body, but everyone has their own ideas and none are compatible or accepted without 'special conditions'. Ridiculous.
  14. Putting aside the accident for a moment. I have to agree with what some people have said about personal responsibility. 4 up on a motorcycle is not good. The full circumstances of the collision are not known to me, but I have seen some motorcycle riders in Thailand put themselves needlessly at risk of collision by lack of awareness and anticipation. Not treating everyone as being out to kill them. Failure to look anywhere other than where they are going when pulling out of a side road. Putting themselves on the left of a left turning lorry, or even the right side when the lorry is turning right. Mind you, fair to say this happens world wide. What seems to be more prevalent though, lack of helmets, no rear lights, sometimes no rear plates for lights to reflect off. Overtaking other riders without regards to other traffic, no mirrors or lack of use of those fitted. The list is interminable. Or so it seems.
  15. Pistol or revolver at 50 meters? Wow. 25-30 meters is the average effective range. Problem is, and what some.people fail to realise is, that firing a weapon will injure someone sooner or later. Even if you point the weapon in the air, sooner or later, the bullet will come down.
  16. The bloke down the pub syndrome...
  17. Ah, but that pre-supposes that the 'arresting officer' is not a crim himself. After all, some ride their police motorbike when not in uniform or on duty. I have seen some without helmets, riding the wrong way, they seem to be afflicted with the Thai way of doing things.
  18. Jeepers. A crack down. For his long, and why haven't they been doing it from day 1?
  19. I admit, I grinned when I read this. But, reality is a bitch. The WHO approved Sinovac in June. Why aren't the Swiss accepting that? Errr. Why not? Which COVID-19 vaccines allow entry to Switzerland? People who have received one of the following vaccines can enter Switzerland: Pfizer/BioNTech (BNT162b2 / Comirnaty® / Tozinameran) Moderna (mRNA-1273 / Spikevax / COVID-19 vaccine Moderna) AstraZeneca (AZD1222 Vaxzevria®/ Covishield™) Janssen / Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S) Sinopharm / BIBP (SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine (Vero Cell)) Sinovac (CoronaVac) COVAXIN® People who have been vaccinated with two different vaccines are considered to be fully vaccinated if: the vaccines used have been approved by the authorities in Switzerland (Swissmedic) and the EU (EMA) or are on the WHO emergency use list and they were administered in accordance with the regulations or recommendations of the state in which the vaccination took place. https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home/krankheiten/ausbrueche-epidemien-pandemien/aktuelle-ausbrueche-epidemien/novel-cov/empfehlungen-fuer-reisende/quarantaene-einreisende.html#231667184
  20. "No plan of operations reaches with any certainty beyond the first encounter with the enemy’s main force.” as was written by nineteenth-century Prussian military commander Helmuth van Moltke. Or paraphrased as 'no plan survives first contact with the enemy'.
  21. A plan is just a plan. Nothing more. I plan to live until I'm 100, just to get the most state pension I can...just a plan boys...
  22. Ah, sliding windows...Austin Seven/Morris Mini...
