Methinks you protest too much.

Endless arguments
The thing that I have noticed is that no one ever thanks me when I correct their ignorance and/or flawed thinking. Seems very ungrateful to me.

Israeli tourist causes chaos on Pattaya’s Walking Street, blames cannabis and stress
High level of stress makes a person vandalize cars and shop lift. Huh, learn something new everyday.

Thailand remains neutral on Israeli-Palestine conflict
Thailand's neutrality is their business, my opinion is of no consequence to them. But... My first awareness of Palestinian militants is of a Palestinian pushing an elderly man in a wheelchair off the deck of the ship Achille Lauro into the Mediterranean Sea. This was intentionally done in front of TV cameras. Most recently the murderous attack by Hamas on unarmed civilians in Southern Israel committing multiple murders on video. Although, there is no doubt a lot of blame to be shared on both sides, the Palestinians have projected an image of inhuman brutality and cruelty that works to their disadvantage.

"Really? What does saying we support Israel do? Doesnt achieve anything." Possibly the "we" in this post is what the government might say. Not the poster including himself as a person speaking for Thailand. Ya think?

Money can't buy you Love (unless you're in Thailand).
Two great philosophers and their thoughts on the subject, both from the US by the way, so they are thinking about "love" in the West.

It may be that the fact that you are miserable and your contemptuous perception of Thai people are not completely independent of each other. Possibly you need to look inside yourself grasshopper. Just a thought.

Where I live Ive noticed more locals are not obsessed with wearing the facial mask anymore. But some still are.
Let's see if I can explain my reasoning here. Possibly it is difficult to follow. Working along side shelf stackers would indicate that this fellow is not say a doctor or a nurse or a medical researcher. He is not working in a field that would qualify him to give advice on medical matters. You misunderstand my post, there is nothing wrong with working among shelf stackers, it just doesn't qualify you to give medical advice.

Three favourite movies
Watched African Queen recently and it did not seem dated at all to me. Sometimes I go back and watch movies I liked in the past and they don't seem to have aged well. But African Queen was great. "Nature, Mr. Allnut, is what we were put here to rise above".

I’m having bouts of Anxiety – Need advice .
I would be reluctant to make a judgement like this. It seems that any solution that you can think of works for somebody.

I’m having bouts of Anxiety – Need advice .
I think there are a lot of good suggestions here. IMHO often there is no one "silver bullet" that cures anxiety or compulsive worrying. As others have noted, not all professional interventions involve drug treatments. The "talking therapy" can be helpful in my experience. I attended a seminar on the "Common Cognitive Distortions" for my work and it helped me. With a little reading on the topic I found that there are a small number of these errors in thinking or perception that are generally recognized. "Catastrophic thinking" as another poster has discussed is a very common one, and one that has plagued me all of my life. But awareness can help. Quick search returned some examples: "A List of the Most Common Cognitive Distortions All-or-Nothing Thinking / Polarized Thinking. ... Overgeneralization. ... Mental Filter. ... Disqualifying the Positive. ... Jumping to Conclusions – Mind Reading. ... Jumping to Conclusions – Fortune Telling. ... Magnification (Catastrophizing) or Minimization. ... Emotional Reasoning." https://positivepsychology.com/cognitive-distortions/ You might check out some articles on the "Common Cognitive Distortions"; no need to shell our for a seminar unless you think it would help. Best of luck to you.

"Why are you taking the lead from strapper hangers on the BTS ?" I wear the mask as a courtesy, I am not "taking advice on whether to wear a mask from the majority of people you see about you in Thailand". Neither do I take advice on whether to wear a mask from self-appointed experts who work with "shelf stackers in shops and supermarkets". I prefer to take advice on this topic from medical professionals if you prefer not to that is entirely up to you.

What I have noticed is some people wear masks and some don't. I have noticed that more people wear masks in some places (crowded BTS/MRT). than in others. I try to wear a mask if everyone seems to do so (like on BTS), not bothered if I forget, get no dirty looks. I was living in an AirBNB in a nice high rise apartment in BKK for a month this year. Almost everyone wore a mask in the elevator there and I tried to do so as well. Some people seemed to be paranoid in the elevator, turned their face to the wall right up to their nose touching. I got the impression they thought foreigners (like me) were carrying disease, but don't really know. I guess the elevator is a confined space so that was the thinking. Now I don't think about it much either way until I see a thread like this.

ATM Charges
Sorry, can't help myself... "No one ever expects the Spanish Inquisition." "Last time I used a foreigen debit card in Thailand" As has been said Charles Schwab reimburses all fees charged when using their debit card. Total charges are added up and reimbursed once a month.

Getting a teenager to learn English in Korat
The quality of any type of provider will vary, some schools/tutors are good, some... not so good. Tutors are more likely to play it by ear as far as a systematic study of English, schools usually use course books that implement a plan. In my opinion, avoid a teacher/school that concentrates on memorizing grammar terminology and technical aspects of grammar. You are a proficient English speaker, do you apply your knowledge of grammar, or your knowledge of the language without thinking about grammar? But people learn languages if motivated, and any help with her studies will advance her level of English. Best of luck to her.

Getting a teenager to learn English in Korat
IMHO...Try to find a native English speaker (NES). She will model her pronunciation on her teacher's pronunciation. Also, if she can understand one NES teacher that is one variation of English accent she will be able to understand without difficulty.

Why do people on here call Thailand the land of smiles?
I don't know ... But I wonder how Thai expats got the reputation of being bitter, nasty old men. On this forum they are always so cheery and pleasant.
