  1. I buy my coffee beans at Kasem. I hadn't realized they were branded until a minute ago, when I went to check the package I am now using. Turns out they are Hillkof, so I add here my voice in support of how good Hillkof beans are. I get either the espresso, Italian or French roasts. I have no idea what Kasem charges for them. It seems that Hillkof beans are sold both whole and ground, in the same packages, so be sure to check which you are buying. It may be written on the outside somewhere, but I just squeeze slightly to test.

  2. I will be there if this is post no 7.

You obviously did not excell in maths :o

Either maths or English, if in fact what he meant to say was 'I would have been able to be there if only this had been post no. 7.'

Oh and, tip of the hat to Dutch, it's 'excel', by the way. :D

  3. Thanks for that additional language lesson, 'Stupid Dutch'. :D

Stupid Dutch ??????????? EXCUSE ME, khun Rasseru!!!! :D

Kindly understand, k. Nienke, that it is not a general aspersion against Dutch people (or even a specific one against a single Dutch person). 'Stupid Dutch' is simply a nickname for Blinky Bill -- which technically makes it, I suppose, a nick-nickname, and quite possibly just one of many -- a point I attempted to indicate by using quotation marks. My apologies for causing you distress. :o

  4. Out of curiosity, in what way does a mid-to-high-end system sound better than that 2000W Pioneer set you see at Carrefour?

I recommend that you test listen to a range of systems. No one should spend more money to buy an expensive system if he or she cannot tell the difference between it and a cheaper system.

I also wonder if you'd even hear the difference in a place like Thailand with all the background noise from fans, aircons, cars, etc, etc.

Best to find or make a listening space that is insulated from any such noise.

  5. Maybe I touched the nerve?

Seems a lot of "faithful" married guys around here don't get any action in the bars or at home - gives them a lot of time to make up "light-hearted jokes" about those who do. :o

You appear to know much more than I do. :D

  6. I am presently trying to change my flights from Khartoum to Dubai (done) to Bangkok (pending) to Chiang Mai (done) and accommodation in Dubai (pending) and telling the company that I am leaving this shithole a day early.

The party had better be worth it.

I can assure you that it will be, for me, if you make it. :o

  7. Are you in need of exotic male dancers on the evening? Ulysses G and I do a rather special show for a very reasonable price. (We do not offer after show extras).

I'm afraid the reluctance to offer after show extras at a ladies only night tells a sad and long suspected story though.

Even sadder when you understand that the explanation lies not in reluctance, but simple inability.

Says the pussy-whipped, married man living in Thailand. :o

    :D

Ouch. I seem to have hit an extremely sensitive nerve, so much so that one wonders whether what was meant only as a light-hearted joke might not have touched on a painful truth. :D

  9. I should never post a topic when drunk :o . I got the name wrong Le Spice great food last night :D my spelling who cares I am not teaching english for a living :D here on holiday

Even on holiday, you could use some punctuation. Your post was so hard to decipher that it has been reported that some posters fell into a comma.

As long as none fell into a colon or were brought to a full-stop, I would say no harm done . . . period.

  10. Got to Chaing Mai yeasterday afternoon what crap weather no sun just rain , I can not believe how quiet it is . Last night I wanted to indian food the thai girl friend wanted thai we went to a restuarant called thaispice a good friend had just started there to be honest I thought the food would be <deleted> well as soon as we got to the restaurant I knew it was going to be good a local indian family having there dinner always a good sign our meal was just wonderful only thing wrong was meals a bit small did not help with girlfiend eating half of my meal back again it was that good.

1 comma and 2 full-stops. Well done but next time try:

Thought you might like to save time by not having to strike the space bar.

So considerate you are. On top of that, and without making any fuss about it at all, you save him an additional key stroke by trimming off one of the two full-stops, and you avoid any mention of spelling. We know the effort that took. Such a gentleman.

  11. about thaispice, never heard of such a restaurant. where is it?

I look forward to learning too. Parenthetically, I won't be surprised if it turns out to be Le Spice, an Indian restaurant that has been much discussed on this forum and serves both Indian and Thai food.

I imagine Blinky Bill going into a feeding frenzy if he swims through these waters. :o

  12. I didn't see one Sping the whole time I was there, and felt a little disappointed :o

If it is important to you and you want to keep trying, I recommend Hope Spings Eternal, just down the road.

    dam_n. I missed your headline. :D

  14. Rasseru, Power Buy has an extensive range of good systems. Especially at their Central KSK branch. for not bad enough sound systems, may i recommend your regular Carrefour or Big-C.

For cheaper stuff, you can buy some good amp and speakers at Amorn. ICON plaza.

Neo carries a lot of higher end stuff but at higher prices.

Thanks, tigerbeer. In fact, I am interested in high end stuff, for which I expect to pay higher prices. Do any of the places you mention carry equipment that is as high end as what Neo has, or is it all less-high end stuff at less-high prices?

  15. Neo Entertainment Gallery, on the fourth floor of Airport Plaza.

sorry rasseru but i find them totally overpriced and have some very rude staff. dont go there. what are you willing to spend on a hi-fi system? would be able to give you an idea of where to buy it then ..

I cannot comment meaningfully on their prices. I know only that they have surprisingly good audio equipment and that all their staff with whom I have had dealings have been extremely nice. That said, I would be delighted to have from you the idea you offered to share with the OP, either here or in a PM.
