EXACTLY!!! You get what you pay for...
AND everyone is sooo mad if you make 30,000, but then you look at the exams and find tons of mistakes. Once I saw a school spell APPLE wrong on a massive poster. APPEL. Who OK'd this before printing? LOL.
Once I heard a teacher yell at her kids (she's NOT Thai, not Farang, do the math).... If I say hi, you say HELLO not Hi. ???????
Then they go on their Facebook page and type, "Living in good place I eat food such wonderful." How can you not laugh at this? Definitely not an English teacher. Hey, maybe a GREAT Teacher, but pick another subject.

I would like to hear what it's like in jail...........when you are less stressed.
I do feel bad for the OP, sincerely bad since he has a kid. I'm at an age no where I realize the love of a child is 100000000000000x more powerful than anything on this planet. I joke a little bit, since I don't have kids. lol. But this is what I think.
Yes, just move right across the border and get a plan there...... and best of luck.
i don't care if this is a troll or not, because it's a REAL problem that can happen. OK, I don't buy the 99 year thing....but separated from your kid for 1 year would be devastating.

I am reminded of this every day in Thailand, almost never back home.
2,000 baht can destroy a person here, change their life, ruin their eating habits for a month, send them into disrepair and act as though they will die any moment.
While others spend 2000 on some beers and ..... every night

Good luck, really. Let me point out some pitfalls. Foreign teachers who can't speak English, spending weeks on pointless games only to quit unexpectedly. Repeat a few times per semester, and everyone is frustrated and confused. lol. Then we have the "English" teachers who have an accent that someone from the UK or USA probably wouldn't understand. Then there are the teachers who get to class 10-minutes late, teach for 10-minutes, and tells the class they can leave early. Why? Because the teacher that might replace him/her is likely worse.
30,000 seems to be the average for a farang, with Filipinos super happy between 18,000 or maybe 20,000 (give or take). You get teachers who have never lived in an English-speaking country, desperate to stay because they need the money, and mad at all natives.
Example: "Take pen out bag." "Where you go today?" "Clap your hand" "You have two bag, so what do you think about the bag?"
It's a clown show; act like a monkey and smile for the camera. I thought you would have to worry about ghrammmmmmar but no oh no oh no its your time your allowed to use you're or your...up to you..nobody knows if its or its' or it's right or wright. lol
I was involved for one semester, but any idiot can understand how the system works.

A few sad thoughts:
1. This guy is probably a BETTER teacher than most, since he can probably speak English clearly. Let that sink in.....There are so many Non-native speakers ;asldjfs;dfjd (inaudible) English that this guy is top of the food chain.
2. Another reason never to drive in Thailand. Never. Met a joker last week, rented motorbike, dropped it, had to pay 12,000. And he works for 25,000 a month and came here with no money.
3. So this guy is 54 or something and doesn't have 200,000 and must ask strangers for money. That is the definitely of lonely. I feel bad for him....I wonder what's the plan 10-years from now..

I will never do anything to disappoint Thailand.
Oh, I've heard this one before...... I think this is the guy who can really speak Northern Thai, so I'm happy for him.
I'm now joking (so you know).... OK, soon corona infects 50% of Thailand and he apply for American citizenship. LOL

and this is Thailand in a nutshell. This is why people corrupt, because they find a "child" and use their power and experience. Then they play God, and destroy all morals to bar fine a hooker. And then they wonder why ex-pats in Thailand are the worst of the worst of the worst (reputation). Only 1 post, likely troll, but who cares...
Well, at least we didn't read this....: "I just got 11 tattoos and met my ladyboy friend and after years of driving a truck I really found paradise and nobody cares I never went to college or can't speak Thai but I must live 100 cm from an ATM."

OF COURSE I would let them dock. Then it's business, right? Good 'ol fashion business that made companies great. Charge 1 zillion for everything, and another 1 zillion for everything and another 1 zillion for more.... they would be risking the lives of our doctors, so another 1 zillion. I would try my best to save them all, but people are paying 50,000 baht for a PHONE....so it's time to get paid Cambodia!!! 10 zillion dock fees
if you want to do it for free.....as Thais say... UP TO YOU.

What happened to all the American hatred?
Oh yea, real news happened and all the haters realized they were getting soooooo mad at small things.
Corona isn't a "small, minor inconvenience." Now it's time to worry

Corona Olympics.
I feel bad for the athletes, but they need to postpone this one.

Question: OK, say you get rejected but you have a motorbike and a good amount of luggage still in Thailand. Do you normally get 7 days to get your stuff, or are you really stuck? I wish I had only a small bag, but that's impossible for me.
I don't think I'll to worry about this until at least May, and likely not until August....BUT I would leave my stuff in Thailand before going to Laos.

Comparing things are ridiculous
WW2 killed 80 million. China communism killed maybe 50 million. Cambodia, Indonesia, Chile, Poland of course, Russia of course with Stalin, Vietnam, never ends...............
Sure, this virus might only kill 40 million. Then we will say, "Well, more people died with the Spanish Flu." And we can argue forever....
I'm predicting this one will scare you more than the flu, and that's the real answer.

soon....in a few months....you will be able to walk into a store, see an item for 5000, tell them 1500 and be prepared to leave.
it might be a dangerous market, but it will be a buyer's market. Sell that condo if you can!!!!

You watched a guy wash 1 but maybe 2 fingers after going to the bathroom? Now I'm not sure who's creepier.... LOL
I just saw a guy wash 3 fingers on his left hand!!!!!

I tried this once. First I had electrical issues and then I cut my hair way, way too short. I like the idea.....if you spend 200 baht every 3 weeks....do the math. but i also like the idea of having less stuff. had to throw away my last one, but maybe i'll try again.

I'm GUESSING this is done for different reasons. Perhaps NOW they can force quarantine and break into a place to get an infected person....Yes, it's obvious to us, but in 1st world countries they need to follow protocol before they can get you...
I say put it to DEFCON 1 and play Tick-tac-toe....

Change the sign tonight, open tomorrow.
We don't own the building, or a business inside, and it would be strange if it was closed for a month. Seems very quick, but I don't take it as disrespectful to the victims, so I'll chalk it up to "This is Thailand."

The work permit is YOURS, not theirs. Nowadays you can work for different branches of the same company in different areas if the company informs the labour office that you will be there, meaning they don't have to apply for a new work permit in the new area as they did before.
You should keep your work permit ( just don't lose it ).
They can certainly go and cancel it. So, yes, it's yours, but they control it. Keep it, but they can cancel it and change terms and good luck going to BKK and fighting it in court. if they want to cancel it, they definitely can.

had both experiences. Total costs with traveling and everything and months and months...can be OVER 20,000.
This is what you do. Tell them you will QUIT if they don't pay. Simple. really. It's amazing how deep their pockets are if they like you. I've learned how to use leverage. If you have some self-worth, you will muster the courage and be strong in your one and only life. Be a man!!! Don't let them walk on you!!
if things don't work out, don't blame me. lol.

I wish there was a country that was a PURE democracy, or even a good Republic. I'm sure the 70 million Thais would vote 99.9% to NOT allow Chinese in.
Making an extra 10,000 baht but dying.......Let's not kid ourselves, the REAL numbers are a magnitude higher (350,000 infected, not 35,000). We all know how bad this is... it's air born. long range....

If you complain publicly, he WILL sue you and WIN for defamation and libel. You feel bad, lost money, and there is nothing you can do. If you want to be mad about it for the rest of your life, OK. The easiest solution is to take your money elsewhere, because this is not your country and you will be reminded of this fact over and over. Laws and rights might apply to you in a minimal way, so get used to it. I've had friends lose over 10 million baht, and they left. Farangs will never win. sorry
