Another life, this one worth $326 USD. Last week one died for 20 baht. All throughout my life here, people are killed, daily, over little to nothing. The jails kept full of those thinking another's life was meaningless. Reason number 43 why I will move, with my daughter, back home as soon as possible. Hopefully something will be done soon, to teach some here that life is precious, that you only get once chance, and you're not coming back if you fail at this one.

Almost every time I go to Lotus or another grocery store. people in vehicles will not allow me, the pedestrian, right of way. This is a law back home, and you will be ticketed, yet that will never happen here, because of the lack of concern for others I see daily. I get cut off on the road all the time, and I've had many people pass me on the right, when I was on the right lane, going over the speed limit by a bit. They would rather head into oncoming traffic, risking not only their life but others coming in the other direction, than go around me in the left lane. Thinking they own the road, and I must move out of their way. I come from New Jersey, home of the defensive drivers, and you don't see this behavior anywhere near as much as I do here. I've had people in cars come within inches of me a few times while I was driving a scooter in the scooter lane, going way over the speed limit. It's like you aren't there. This is yet another reason I will leave here with my daughter way before she's allowed to be on the road driving.

I just pointed out that most accidents, usually around 85%, involve bikes, and the reasons why so many die daily, have been, and will continue to, until laws are enforced. There are many that die in single bike collisions, where drinking, speed and incompetency factor in. Most of which involve not wearing helmets.

Fact of the matter is that most of the accidents, including and especially fatal, are involving motorbikes. Reasons besides obvious speeding, overtaking or drunk are no safe areas surrounding the driver or passengers, helmets are usually not worn, easy to lose control of a 2 wheeled bike, hitting objects in the road with one wheel makes them lose control easy, people who aren't adept at driving a motorbike, too young to drive (not at license age), rainy conditions where it's easier to slide, and oil in the road after rain, which is worse, and more. Some of the best bike riders are killed not because they can't handle a bike but because other drivers who are incompetent, which runs rampant here., hit them from the back or sides.

You could say that about most adults and youth in every country worldwide. The same TV, movies, video games and soap operas we see in the US are mirrored by either the same or copies of those. The only difference is the language used, along with subtitles. Most every nation was founded by violence, and many rich families got that way because their ancestors murdered or stole from their neighbors. These rich families are the same ones looked up to by many others, besides the ones that understand how they got rich. Think about history and how some people got to be leaders of countries. They don't adore it, it just happens when a lot of people get together and there's so much infighting instead of working together. Remember the US isn't a race but all races and creeds on earth in one place. This breeds problems with all the freedom and wrong thinking going on. Mass murders happen elsewhere , including here, and it's growing, along with all the gun violence here that rivals the US, besides mass shootings. There's a lot more crime here than most people think, and the enforcement is way down, so that also breeds more. This will only get worse before it ever gets better. Many expats here rarely leave the house except to go shopping or bars, especially in the country areas, so they won't see much of what goes on, especially since only a fraction is reported on the news.

Actually, most of it isn't random but gang related and suicides. US does have more mass murders but that will happen more here as time goes on.

Do NOT buy the Fiesta, especially the 2013-14 models. I've had one for 6 years and have only had problems since. The TCM transmission module is a major problem, especially after a certain amount of kilos. Ford extended it's warranty for this alone. I had to replace mine twice, and it needed one again when my engine caught fire 2 weeks ago while I was driving. This seems to happen quite often with the Fiestas and Focus. I was lucky when I pulled over there was a house right there so I could run and put out the fire before the care was engulfed. Ford wants 205,000 baht to fix it and the cars not worth that anyway. Ford is under an over 400 people class action lawsuit in Thailand alone for this and other problems people have been having. I'm currently talking to them to have them pay off what I owe on the car, which isn't much. The car's suspension has trouble, as well as the brakes. This is above all the usual things you will replace along the way. Buy a Toyota if you can. Did this in Texas with everything that wasn't perishable. It disappeared in a day most every time. People drive around looking for things left out, to either repair or scrap.

Fans get constant use here. Best and safest bet is to replace. You don't want it shorting and maybe causing a fire if you're not watching. Motor getting red hot is a warning sign to not use.

Look in this forum, and all other forums about here. Multiply that by 1000 and you might be somewhere near the amount of people who see this as it really is, why so many leave, including locals. If you haven't heard, you haven't been listening. Every country has good and bad, including this one. There are reasons people dislike certain places after they've lived in them, and you can see this in those forums, by word of mouth, international news, and statistics on crime. Some love a place where others can't stay. This is because they are content being bored, or, they like the beaches, which this country has many of, and they are nice, as most other beaches worldwide are. Some stay inside because they can't stand the heat, or rain, and are content to pass the hours away watching series on TV, or getting blasted in a bar with other men and some good looking bar girls. You can read all about the crime here, and it's just a pinprick of what actually happens daily here. Like all countries, including where I'm from, you can go a lifetime and never see violence personally, and the next day you could be a victim of it. People kill each other here for nothing, as little as 20 baht will push them over the edge, and you see people ganging up 5 against 1 all the time. This isn't something you see back in the US, except by gang members. I just feel safer back home. Many talk trash about the US, thinking it's inundated with gun violence all over , daily. It does happen of course, but after living there my first 62 years, selling guns, and being in touch daily with many law officers, I never saw any of it myself. Here, its obvious no one really cares to enforce the laws already on the books, because an average of 60 people die daily on the roads, about the most unsafe worldwide. I see near misses everyday, and a few accidents, but luckily haven't been involved in anything besides a couple fender benders. back home I saw the same things. The difference is they are much better drivers back home, because the testing is a lot harder, and if you break the driving laws, you will pay, every time you are caught. All the confirmation I need, is actually watching the daily news, along with world news daily. I'm a good observer, and what I see is what I've heard about before I moved here, and that has been proven while I've stayed here. It's a beautiful country with many beautiful things, but it's missing so much more, and anyone who opens their eyes and listens can see this for themselves. It's not a good place for females, and that's one of the main reasons I will move back home. My daughter will have a better schooling and job prospects for her future, and I will be back where I feel comfortable and safe. Hopefully people who have some pull will change things here for those that like it here, but I don't see that coming for a long time.

Neighbors killing each other isn't high on the crime list there. Most gun violence is gang related and suicides. Seems like the world is competing against each other to see who's the craziest. Gun violence here mirrors the US besides mass shootings. Here, more use machetes and knives than most anywhere else.
