  3. 4MyEgo's advice was pretty solid, and I would add, do NOT move back to Thailand no matter what. Your kids will have a much better life where you're at now. Talking to your wife, dating her again, finding time for just each other, might help somewhat. Doing anything you can to see the marriage last is always the best advice, as long as there isn't any infidelity, abuse or total neglect. I've always done more than my 3 wives did, as far as cooking, cleaning and raising the kids. I saw my dad do a lot more than most men do, so I picked up on that. He provided, my mom was motherly and was mostly at home. If you can just know that you will always do more as far as household duties, and are okay with it, it will make things easier. Women gain weight not only because of age and diet, but because they are giving up. When a woman knows she is loved, she will do her best to take care of herself, notwithstanding possible depression . Are there any other Thais living in your area? If she had a few friends that aren't man haters, she would feel more at home, and living there would be easier. Many Thai women have kids because they can, and leave the raising to the schools and grandparents. It's an epidemic here, and I've seen it personally. As far as giving your kids a tablet, they are too young, and it makes them lazy. They need to play as long as they can, and interact with others, because the phones will come eventually anyway. Talking to your wife about this in a kind way might help, to at least postpone it. Her, along with millions of others, are addicted to their phones because they are bored with interacting with others, and it gives them entertainment. Not a good thing, but that's a problem most have now. Can she get a job (work permit)? Keeping busy, seeing she was working before you met, might help. People isolate because of depression and boredom, and it only gets worse for everyone involved. If you do whatever you can and that does mean everything, divorce and joint custody isn't a bad thing, as long as the kids see the both of you. She doesn't seem like the motherly type, so that would give her a break from the kids. She might do that for awhile, then get to the point of not wanting to see them, as many do here. If she does take them on her days, it will give you a break, and it'll be better when you do have the kids, meaning they will see more involvement from you. There are babysitters everywhere, so that's something to fall back on when you need time. The kids will be in school sooner than you think, if one isn't already, so then you'll have them after school, after your work.
  4. Wondering how many of the 3-4 million expats that live here you've actually associated with. A lot of people say they know a lot of farangs, but I'm sure most don't know more than 100, and many a lot less than that. so you can't generalize, just like the other assuming poster that says all expats here are losers. If you stay in your general area, which most do, you don't come into contact with but a tiny percentage of the foreigners that live here.
  5. Try researching. The Mediterranean diet a well known top diet for decades
  6. In my mind this was coming, along with some others who saw this as the beginning of something else...................https://www.yahoo.com/gma/us-navy-destroyer-red-sea-185700181.html
  7. Another one assuming Americans aren't clever. Another one who doesn't understand ALL Americans have ancestry in all other countries, including his own.
  8. Most like their eggs cooked.
  9. How is it a portal to God if they, through Buddha, who had no use for a god, had them believe otherwise? And touching a Thai girls face, head and feet has never been a problem for myself nd all the other farangs I know.
  10. Yes. Many reasons a restaurant goes out of business, many in the first year. Location is still the biggest priority of a restaurant, but customer service can be ahead of the food. Word of mouth is the reason most go to restaurants, and this kind of ignorance is why people look elsewhere, even if the food is good. Dealing with customers, many of whom are idiots, makes waiters (waitresses) have a bad attitude, but you can't let it show. No or bad tips are the least of the problem. No returning customer, and the bad reviews is what kills many. You can't defame things here, which is why many continue the same way.
  11. It isn't rude if you'd like your eggs cooked the right way. That's called service, which is what a restaurant that serves customers for money is supposed to do. Complaining about anything is how things are corrected, from bad wifi, to bad electric company maintenance, to food served, to corruption in police forces. If you don't complain, they will think what they are doing is okay, and mai pen rai doesn't work in the real world.
  12. The Thai diet, prepared correctly, is definitely in the top 10 worldwide. The Okinawan is supposedly the best, followed by the Mediterranean, Japan, Sardinia, Greek, Costa Rica and Loma Linda CA, not in any particular order, as they're all at the top. All depends on who's doing the cooking also. Thai food can be healthy or unhealthy.
  13. Thai food has the potential to be as healthy as any other foods. The problem is in who prepares it. I've had Thai hundreds of times before I moved here in the US, where there are stringent regulations and checks on restaurants, where they have to pass a health exam to stay in business. Here it's very lax, and of course there is the thousands of shops and stalls which aren't regulated. The ingredients in Thai food, the basics being meat, fish, eggs , vegetables and fruit aren't the problem, nor are the fresh spices put in, along with fresh oil. It's oil that's been left out and reused many times, on different days, the overuse of salt and sugar in many dishes, something that doesn't happen in the restaurants I've visited back in the states. Meat that's been left out all day, gathering more bacteria, and hopefully fully cooked because of it. I've never had more stomach trouble in my life than since I've lived here. I eat the same things I ate back home, which I never had trouble from, with the addition of Thai food cooked locally.
  14. Actually, you'll pay a coyote to help you cross the border, no guarantees of anything when you get there, and soon, a bus ride back across the border, where you'll have lost the money to the coyote and have to start all over again, where the next trip could get you lost in south Texas, out of water, and dead from dehydration. Green cards are not issued to illegals, and neither are legal jobs.
  15. Maybe pathetic to you, but a fact. It doesn't matter what you think about Biden. His word , and final decisions, are always voted on. And most Americans are fine with paying taxes to protect our country.
  16. They're very quick to pick up a knife. generations of abuse by males has made a lot of them stand up for themselves, and they know, although easy for another man, it isn't easy for a female to fight a man. My ex came at me three times with a knife, two times because she was mad at her mom and once because I was trying to get her to talk about what was upsetting her. She backed down when I talked to her two times, and her sister got in between us once. Loose cannons abound here, and a lot of it is because of previous abuse by Thai males. It seems to be an ingrained thing here, picking up weapons to hurt another. Inability to use ones hands or feet in a fight prompts them to look for the nearest thing to use. I had to, until we divorced, keep an eye on her for the times she would go off for the slightest thing, with eyes going black and a look to kill. I'm sure some here besides you know exactly what I'm talking about.
  17. Latch key kids, absent and or abusive and neglectful parents, violence prone peers, media addiction, lack of real punishment for earlier violent crimes.
  18. Nothing wrong with his statement. Children who are abused are a lot more likely to grow up to be abusers than those who grew up in a non abusive, caring environment. It's where bullies come from. And he did say an undeveloped mind, which I'm sure he meant as one that's been subject to abuse and or neglect, is likely to be swayed by playing the games, because it does desensitize kids against violence. People who commit gun crimes against innocents are mentally unstable all of the time. It starts at home, or a relatively small few are born that way. Billions do in fact play these games, and yes, a tiny fraction are influenced by them and act out violently using guns.
  19. No problems attracting a 40 year old in US either. A lot like older men who've been there and understand a woman and what she needs. Not easy but possible
  20. Working out for 50 years and knowing how to listen to women works the best. Initial attraction, smiling, looking them in the eyes, and making them laugh.
  21. I had a few delivery jobs that interested me, as in delivering microfilm, once to the World Trade Center Other than those, selling guns and fishing tackle was my favorite, and are hobbies so interest also.
  22. I'm from the US and fully aware of what goes on there. What do you mean by left in peace? The US goes where terrorists live, to kill them, so they won't kill others, not only in the US but in other countries, so they are doing a service to all countries. Do you think going into Afghanistan was about making money? Think what terrorists have done. You think they deserve any breaks?
  23. I'm not sure what you mean by mouting, but one can see beer bellies in every country just by walking around any city.
  24. Letting terrorists get away with killing means it will increase. The US gets involved because the US is all nations in one place. It isn't a country of just Americans, but all countries on earth in the same place. That's why they want to help when another country is being victimized by terrorists. Doing this doesn't mean mistakes won't be made, as in Vietnam. But letting the Taliban leaders get away with 9-11 wouldn't have stopped them but let them live to do it again, and in other countries as well. Problem is they , and all terrorists organizations, recruit others to hate.
  25. He is right about the feet. Most of the people I've seen here in Isaan wear pretty much the same kind of clothes ,unless they're going to temple or town, parties, weddings etc. Comfortable clothes just like most farangs wear, including me. Doesn't really matter because most are going to farm to work. If you look at the feet, and now you will because it's now been put into your mind, you will see many, many with foot damage, especially around the nails. This is of course because most wear open toe sandals and flip flops, and work in fields with not only mud, but sticks, rocks, and of course, water. I noticed this early on, that my ex, who is very pretty with a nice shape, had toes that looked like they were in a war. Her mom, brothers, sisters and most everyone else I saw in our village, and then in other places afterwards had the same kind of damage. After I saw her feet, it got me to look at others, just to see, and it confirmed it. Back home, most don't wear anything besides shoes, besides the women with their open toed shoes and heels, but they aren't working in fields. When you're with women, of course you will notice their feet, and although some had big, or long toes, or big feet, they weren't damaged. My ex's brother here, who has brain damage, walks everywhere looking for firewood for mom, because that's about all he can do due to a scooter accident where he hit his head, and his feet are as bad as I've ever seen. Almost no nails, and cuts everywhere. He uses sandals, but walks everywhere, meaning everywhere, looking for firewood. People do look at other's feet. This is why there are so many nice shoes out there. It's not a fetish, as it doesn't do anything for me. Just an observation, like all deer hunters have. (no, i don't look at the hooves of deer)
