Seems as if the trunk used to be 72.2 m long, but they had to cut 2.5 metres off to make commemorative paper weights for visiting dignitiries.

Not only wandering people but some very stoopid ones considering there is a wide walking/running track alonside the dedicated cycling track.....I once saw a farang couple nonchalantly pushing their child in a push chair up the cycle track. Maybe because the track had more trees shading it? But some really fast training cyclists used to use that track. Also a bit dangerous if you came off your bike (bicycle) as the track has a concrete raised boundary 'step' along parts of the narrow track.

I once visited a wat in the afternoon and saw with my own eyes how a favourite drink of the monks was a few large spoons full of sweetened condensed milk mixed 50:50 with hot water and drank. This was permitted. Not hard to see why monks have trouble keeping their weight down.

Big difference between Debit and Credit cards: My Thai BB Debit Card does not have my name on the card. My UK Debit card only has my name in small letters at the base of the card so no embossed letters to make an (old style) counter purchase. This probably explains why Debit cards are more likely to be refused although the UK card allows for a contactless payment. My Thai card also has the contactless icon so I assume that works (in Thailand?) as well.

It could be that they are selling some items as a "loss leader" to get favourable reviews? The next time you order from this company it might be a different story.

A few? years ago Sheryl posted the names of about 6 Thai creams with the same ingredients as Savlon. I visited about 5 pharmacies in Bangkok but none of them had heard or stocked these creams. I suspect there is a ban on the ingredients used in Savlon.

I have given up buying progressive spectacles in Thailand. I bought two pairs (one was also photochromatic) over 3 or 4 years ago at Specsavers in London. This included a free comprehensive eye test (just had to say I was a UK tax payer for NHS paid-for test). The whole cost was 350 pounds and I still use both sets daily. I just checked and cant see a single scratch on either of them. Specsavers keeps emailing me inviting me for another eye test. I will take them up on the offer on my next visit but probably decline ordering new glasses. The 4 year old ones are still good for me (even though I suspect my eyesight is IMPROVING with age. No more Thai specs for me.

Lots of good UK state pension info here but too much to sift through. I am back in the UK for 3 weeks. Is it possible and easy/simple to get your unfrozen State pension rate paid for these 3 weeks. It wont amount to much but is it worth trying? Is it best to phone them or can it be all done online? Tks

Is Savannakhet the best location to apply for this non -immig O visa in the region? What about Vientianne? Or Cambodia and Vietnam? I recently read a thread that Hanoi (or was it HCMC) was offering non-immig O visas for applicants married to Thai partners, but no mention of non immig O visas for people over 50 intending to retire in Thailand.

Joe, does this mean you can then apply for a 1 year retirement extension in the normal manner in Thailand within the last 30? days of the 90 day non immig O visa? Tks

Slight correction; the instructions actually say 'In payment code, enter your reference number' So what is my reference number. Is it the same as my order number? I actually did phone Lazada but the lady could not answer my question. She is however sending me an email which may or may not help

Just a quick question as probably easier to ask here than contact Lazada for clarification. The instructions for paying by mobile banking seem pretty clear except for the confusion in terminology. I have to input 'your reference code' But on my Lazada payment page I have 'your order number is' xxxxx And below that is 'Bangkok Bank reference number' xxxxxxxx I assume that the reference code I input is actually my 'order number' and not the 'BB reference number' Thanks if somebody can confirm this for me.

Whisky at trade prices on the Whisky Invest Direct website. Easy to sell but now actually more difficult to buy due to the shortage of new 'whisky' coming onto to trading platform. This is whisky that is priced per litre and held in bond. Not bottled or whole cask whisky (which is more of a speculative investment) As a consumable commodity it should (and has) kept up with inflation very well.

When you consider the fact that overseas retirees make little or no use of the UK National Health Service, it should make good financial sense for the UK to encourage people to retire overseas.....even pay them extra to do this. I remember reading years ago (about 7) that the average pensioner costs the NHS £7,000 a year. We are saving the nation heaps by staying in Thailand.

As far as I understand these companies will provide you with a valid flight reservation (for 24 hours or so). But they do not actually provide you with an E-ticket. So you have to dupe both the checkin desk and the immig desk with a piece of paper that is not actually a ticket. Not sure how that works out in practise.

I renewed my retirement visa extension at CW ast week and only had to produce a bank letter showing my balance dated a few days before. No need for a full yearly statement. This was for the 800,000 baht method. Although not explicitly stated as far as I can see, the OP is applying using the monthly pension income method.

I always used 3 baht stamps at Chaeng Wattana. Why would you use a 10 baht stamp if the P.O. says it is only 3 baht. Is Immigration wanting farangs to subsidise the Thai Post Office? Strange

I changed baht into nice new 50 pound plastic notes this week at Superich Silom road. I had to order the notes the day before because they didnt have enough for 1000 GBP. Amazing how thin a wad 20 plastic notes are. . .
