I'm sure when senior police heard that Indian scammers had settled into Pattaya with a 3 billion baht haul of money, they immediately jumped all over this case! I would like to know what their scam was.

The Nigerian Prince scam worked because it preyed on greed, but these romance scams look for lonely and naive women where greed is not their main fault. Yes, they are rather stupid to fall for this, but these scammers really grab them by professing "love" almost immediately after meeting them online. I think these women have never been loved before so are desperate to believe it. Thailand is a minor player, lonely women and men in the US and Europe lose millions to these scammers.

I sincerely doubt that any of these are in fear of being drafted to fight (and die) in Ukraine. Residents of Moscow & St. Petersburg somehow aren't getting draft notifications. Only the minority populations in far-away republics & oblasts are getting selected. Besides, friends, relatives of Oligarchs, and powerful figures wouldn't have to sneak to Thailand and hang-out on public beaches. "Connected" Russians live in London, party in Berlin and access private beaches in Monaco.

If y'all don't know, the Scandinavians have the highest rate of suicide, and a butcher knife would have enough mass to drag across one's own throat and cut deeply, as opposed to the thin kitchen knives I normally see in Asian kitchens. I know of no country in the world that allows a "I was drunk" defense. I think it is as reasonable as the "I was angry", or the "He needed shooting!" excuse.
