I live in Thailand and had been seriously considering a move back to the UK mostly for my son's education and for a better family life (grandparents, lots of uncles, aunts, cousins). But now am unsure as I understand that the average energy bill in the UK will rise to aprox 500 GBP per month!!! Add to that the impending interest rate rises and rising food prices I honestly don't think I can afford to move back. Crazy times!

You are just making figures up and posting them as fact. It's really just nonsense. Perhaps half that is true....which of course is still too high.

I have a similar problem with my old phone which I keep as a spare but seldom use. Found a very cheap monthly data plan and don't want anything more, but the company keeps supplementing it with unsolicited special short term deals. I can't read the fine print well enough to know what gives them the right to do this, but I have been to the shop several times to cancel, and try to bar them from doing it in the future.

Impossible. They cannot add a pack and charge you for it. They just send promotional messages.

What is the very cheap plan that you have found?

I'm not aware of any way to set up an alert when your prepaid data package is soon to expire.  I do get the text when it's already expired, but by the time I catch it, 10-20 baht of my balance already eaten by pay per use data....  Same story with True, AIS, and Dtac...  I wonder how many billions of baht they rake up by not letting people set up advance expiration alerts...

It does sound as if you are blaming others for your own error.

    Though it is annoying.

What I find especially egregious is DTAC's policy on packs. You might think a day pack is supposed to last 24 hours, but if you buy a pack at ten minutes to midnight, you get just ten minutes for that day. Complete madness.

They also used to offer an almost free 'always on' connection to prevent data leakage, Go Plearn, now discontinued. Allegedly there is an alternative within their App.

AIS sell 'always on' 64kbps and 128 kbps connections for around 30 baht per month. Useful enough for texting and preventing data leakage. Faster packs can be added as and when.

Looks like the Media are siding with these Kuwaiti racing drivers

Saying he accidentally  crashed his bike into a taxi ????

Whose driver said the guy was speeding ????

Must be some brown envelopes getting passed around ????

Seems like no one wants to upset these guys ????

Do you think he deliberately crashed his bike into the taxi or that he accidentally crashed into the taxi? Answers on a postcard please.

Did those prices include luggage?  Many advertised prices now do not include cabin or checked baggage - even though it must be extremely rare for people travelling long-haul to fly without any luggage.

I actually found some fares even cheaper than the above but the were code shares  - I believe then can be risky and I steer clear of them.  The Thai flight must surely be a code share as they don't fly in to Manchester.

Are those flights on my dates?

    Yes, 20kg.

    Yes.

  7. OP seems a bit confused. It was actually elfpattaya who called him a Troll and elfpattaya who suggested that he fix the problem by fixing the Windows install.

Exactly the same thing that was suggested by posters more than a year ago and clearly exactly the same thing that he refused to do this time too.

He was adamant that he followed the instructions exactly but when asked, flatly refused to confirm the steps. It's all memorialised.

Of course we all understood why it didn't work. He did not understand how to boot from a USB Flash drive, so instead kept trying to run the install from the drive and so could not find the option to delete the old partitions. Absolutely refused to believe it was anything that he was doing and roundly abused anyone who suggested that it was his mistake, that there was nothing wrong with the process itself.

Here he is doing the same thing again. Abusing the people that helped him the most.

    Thanks for responses

I used the code offered and works lovely.

Very quick on True as well. Am only using  social media/email though so guess it will be

Works out about $6 for a month fantastic value

Fantastic for you, but very poor relative value.

The code given to you is totally out-dated; at the very least, eight years old. Times have changed a lot since then in mobile data terms.

The current norm at that cost here is "unlimited data @ 15 Mbps with unlimited free voice calls" for 200 baht per month.

The person giving that to you was already in possession of much better codes for new SIM and also could have shared those had he wished to do so.

But since you are happy with what you have, there's no issue.

Well it seems that high flight prices are set to continue.

There is clearly more than one reason for the current pricing being so expensive but I suspect demand is the biggest contributor.  Many people in the West haven't travelled for 2 years or so and are keen to start taking holidays again.

Of course fuel prices have an effect as does the fact that the airlines have lost huge amounts during the Covid 19 pandemic - but so have many of us.

I suspect (hope) that once people have satisfied their travel lust again and spent the money they saved through not being able to travel without restrictions that we may see, not a return to 2019 prices but considerable reductions.

At the moment, airlines are pricing high and getting it - all my recent flights have been full.  My last flight - MAN-DOH-BKK and back cost over 72,000 baht. That's the highest price I've ever paid and it hurt.  I wasn't able to be flexible and of course it was school holiday time in the UK so a little of what I paid was down to that but there's no getting away from the fact that it was bloody expensive. I saw cheaper prices advertised but every one of them was not actually available, was on multiple airlines or had very long total durations.

It seems that Christmas this year is also going to be the same - again, I can't be flexible, well not much anyway and at the moment for MAN-BKK-MAN, 14 December to 2 January I'm getting prices around 56,000 baht.

Its tempting to hang on as there is a strong possibility that those prices will drop but I have a court case to attend before Christmas so I really need to book something soon.

The last time I flew at Christmas - I got a good deal by arriving on New Year's Eve and I've also obtained sub 30,000 prices by flying on Christmas day - not possible this time.

I just can't see this continuing - it will surely hit the recovery of Thailand's tourist trade.  Imagine you're a family with - 2 adults and couple of kids over 12, your total flight bill is going to be around 225,000 - Western families will just book Spain or Greece instead.

I use Travelsupermarket - if anyone knows a site that's finds cheaper prices that actually exist, please post details. Please don't post anything from theflightsguru - set of con artists - flights either not available, don't include luggage or both.

Whoops, today the price has gone up to 64,500!!

Not suggesting that you book with them; just illustrating that you can get cheaper than you indicate.

  10. Begin at 32"

    https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship

You can connect laptop to any TV and/or download media on to a USB Flash drive, plugging that in to the TV. The better the TV, the wider the range of files it will be able to play via USB.

You can also add a relatively inexpensive Android box to play and stream all kinds of media via the TV.

Prices begin at around 3k, going up to 6k.

For a mid-range suggestion, the Mi TV P1 32" comes in at 4.6k.

Thanks, maybe I will do that too.  3000b better than 5000b if the outcome is the same.

Did the agent handle opening all by herself, or did you go to the branch together with her?

You don't need an agent; just a residence certificate from Immigration. You just take some proof of where you are staying, along with 300 baht.

Then at the branch, they will charge you only for card and bank deposit. Anything else and they are just trying it on. Up to you if you want the added services. Even up to you if you want a card.

  12. Topic is Cheapest good weed now ? I found 350 thb/gram but not cheaper yet, any idea ?

Not, give a review of any weed you have purchased.

Whatever I have purchased has already been covered by others who bought the same thing. I recently made a comment/review about Green Crack purchased.

But of course that fact isn't convenient for people intent on using the board for freewheeling and Trolling.
