Thanks for your concern but this has only just happened, I'd rather use the shop they good people I know this because my son knows them and he is into computers and isn't coming up from Bkk for a good while.

I haven't been there for years since I bought the Asus laptop computer haven't needed too.

It's not about 'good people'. I guarantee they won't do anything with installing Root Certificates.

I've been around here a while and have almost never seen them do a job properly.

But so many people here have got used to buying pirated software in Thailand, along with crude hacks, that they just accept it as the norm.

Laptops are much easier to deal with than motor vehicles. Just like you could probably talk me through an issue with my motorbike, I can talk you through  the very simple steps to update your PC.

It's really a doddle when you know how.

First, I do agree with you completely.  I too like to read about money saving tips and not have a thread turn into a comparison of incomes/bank accounts.  But really… what’s the point of someone starting a thread like this when they already admittedly have a ฿29,000,000 net worth?

People can start topics for any reason.. I saw the topic title and it drew my interest. But I wanted to read posts in relation to the title of the topic. The replies here could have gone into the thread to which you linked; rather than this one.

Yeah I'll see how much a proper windows is the one I got is probably a copy. ????

Upgrading is free and even a product key no more than a couple of hundred baht.

The problem being that the shops cannot even be bothered to use a product key, so they activate it in a not permanent way; storing up trouble for you later.

It is sooooo easy to do it yourself with simple guidance from people here.

I probably wouldn't know how to manage that either.

The computer works fine on everything else it's only AN that is making it difficult.

"It works fine" on the surface. You simply have no understanding of how insecure your interactions and won't until something happens.

You only know of this Root Certificate issue because of AN.

There is good reason why your phone works and that is because being up to date takes care of some of the things of which you have no knowledge.

If you are resistant to moving, then at least learn how to keep Windows 7 updated. Windows 7 IS still getting updates, but you need to know how to download and install them.

With Windows 10, you won't need to have that specialist knowledge.

It's like you saying that no one has broken in to steal your lawn mower yet, even though the door is open.

Root Certificate are there to stop people from tricking you into interacting with cloned websites.

Thanks for your time and patience.

I have Windows 7 home premium and windows they don't updates anymore.

Google.com comes up straight away no problem.

I can clear Cookies and there's Clear cache as well, I normally just go History and clear browsing data only and then click on the systems check which checks  virus, passwords etc.

Why not just upgrade to Windows 10 Pro instead of running an outdated OS that you don't have the ability to manage?

  6. I hope you mean Solid State Drive and not a Hard Disk/c Drive.

Anyone fitting an HDD as their Boot drive in 2021 needs their head testing.

So easy to install an operating system; but people like to throw money at everything instead of learning quite how simple it is to do yourself.

Now you have paid and it's still not up to scratch. Why not just learn to do it yourself by asking for help here, instead of suffering with sub-standard work and communication?

@Bruno123  Any information on the AIS offer? I have a new sim with 300thb loaded on it.

Sent the info to your private inbox....to turn off mobile data before entering the code etc

But it seems that you have already applied it whilst I was offline. Glad that you got it done in time ????

Shame and surprising about DTAC; though 300 baht per month for unlimited 20 Mbps is still good value.

Shame that the mobile network shop staff have no idea of their own products.

Dtac was a fail at 4 mbit, i tried a true h card which got to 30mbit here.

True instore said there was 20mbit for 499 postpaid which doesnt sound bad.

@Bruno123  How do i get an AIS 20mbit package since last time i asked they said only 15mbit at 449 thb? My current ais card is 9 months old.

    thanks

Do you actually read my posts to you? ????Get a  new prepaid SIM! How many times? ???? Then get back to me. AIS or Truemove H is up to you. Top it up with 300 baht whilst you are there. No need to put it into your phone at this stage. Just let me know when you have the SIM with 300 baht on it. Better that you do it today.

Then I'll guide you through how to obtain the package. Unfortunately it will only be for six months. Though hopefully they might extend it after six month on request.

Source laptop you like; find out if it has an easily removeable keyboard. If not, look for another ????

Once you've found a suitable model, source the keyboard in your native language. Take both to an official service centre and get them to swap them. If it's an original part, it should not affect the warranty.

Why did I imagine that a laptop was involved?? ????

    According to the MEA app

    Condo in Bangkok

    07/21 Charged 40 THB - Units 121 kWh
08/21 Charged 40 THB - Units 259 kWh  (heard there was a discount so ran AC more)
    09/21 Charged 955.60 THB - Units 246 Kwh

I though mine was the lowest at around 100 baht; but 40 baht is the lowest I've heard of thus far.

Seems they got you back in September, as you cranked up the air con ????

Back when I was a lot younger our local petrol station closed at 6pm, but had one pump on a vending system overnight.

50pence [UK] got you one gallon.

The old man asked me to go fill a gallon container for the lawn mower, in went the 50p coin, as it reached the gallon level the pump kept going, so I filled up the car as-well.. 12 gallon tank.

Gallon? 50p? Early to mid '70s I guess.

2mbit on dtac lte, 27 mbit on my ais sim

Since you know that you can get 27 Mbps with AIS; that is your fallback position.

Get yourself a new AIS SIM from Central Festival and keep that on Standby.

That way, if DTAC doesn't work out for you. we can still apply the 20 Mbps package to the new AIS SIM. It has to be a new SIM; so don't question it, just get it.

Once you have that in your hand, you can re-run the speed test with the DTAC SIM using an non capped package, as opposed to the possibly free capped data pack that might be included with the SIM. The 9.63 baht 100 MB in volume pack is just a day pack for your testing purpose.

If all good, then get yourself to DTAC at CF and show them the SIM that you need: SIM KONGKAPAN 10Mbps + Free Call to dtac number for 12 months https://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/simdtac.html

Hopefully they'll have some in stock or at least direct you towards a mobile phone shop that does.

Then follow the instruction to uprate the included 12 month pack from 10 Mbps to 20 Mbps. SIM KONGKAPAN 10Mbps + Free Call to dtac number for 12 months

To find the instruction, click through; https://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/simdtac.html and scroll to SIM KONGKAPAN 10Mbps + Free Call to dtac number for 12 months and then click on New Promotion detail

Then you will realise what a waste of time it was talking to the staff. You have to tell them; not ask them.

You can store these pics and website addresses to show them if necessary. You have two days.

  13. The article states the 1st of October. But in reality, it was in effect a while ago.... unofficially announced when they extended public transport to 10pm a few weeks back. Even before then, no one was being hassled before 10 pm.

I think everyone who has been here long enough, understands that 9pm means 10 pm here and 10pm means 11pm.

If they said 10 pm in the first place, the locals would only be dispersing then.

So don't panic, as long as you are making your way home before 10pm currently and 11pm from the 1st of October, no one will bother you.

    AIS in Pattaya is quoting

    349 THB for 10mbit

    449 THB for 15mbit

    No 20mbit package

This is one of the reasons why I am reluctant to get involved with helping people here with phone packages. I have given you the info; but then you feel the need to second guess me at every single turn.

So far you have insisted that DTAC SIM are capped at 2 Mbps in Jomtien, that my information concerning the promo date is wrong, that AIS doesn't offer the package that I have described and the you can only get them PostPaid and follow it with similar nonsense concerning DTAC and PostPaid contracts.

It's just annoying and a total waste of time.

You have wasted nearly two weeks and have not got anywhere.

Buy the SIM, apply a small full speed package of say 100 MB for 9.63 baht, test the speed and then refer to me. Do not ask DTAC ,Truemove H nor AIS anything. You don't know what to ask and you are wasting yours and my time.

If you don't get it all completed by the end of the month, you may lose out. Writing here afterwards that they said this or that, won't help you once the time has passed.

Get the speed tests sorted out TODAY and post the results TODAY. Then I will advise you on the best way forward.

I wonder if the dtac sim comes with free internet for a month but capped to 2mbit

Add a small 'full speed' data package and find out. Top up at least 10 baht(you can do that on the orange machines outside 7-11 and Family Mart) and then tap in *104*851*9# and then hit the dial key.

Then try the speed test again. Promo ends this month; don't question my knowledge. You asked the staff the wrong question.

@Bruno123 I’ve talked to Dtac on their service number. There’s no expiry date for the 1 year sim, and getting a 7-11 sim to test the speed isnt a good idea when its capped at 2mbit. Thanks for the help anyway.

You don't know what you are talking about ???? Expiry dates and 7-11 SIM. That has nothing to do with what I have imparted. Nothing at all.

Added to that you are now writing about a 2mbit cap.

    I give up.
