He must be on  must be on the same planet as the  person that advised against buying a phone with a 2 MP macro lens and yet less than 6 months ago that is exactly what they did

Think about it....I advised after I bought the phone. New knowledge.

Apart from that, it wasn't for me ????

Anyway, I deleted the nonsense I wrote, as I mixed up the phones about which I was writing.

Update: I didn't buy one on the 10th, after reading reviews on GSM Arena I decided the Snapdragon 732 on the BIG Note 10 Pro was too slow and the camera on the Poco X3 not good enough.

So more research for a faster phone and better camera but still under 10k Baht but I thought I would wait for more models to be introduced.

Today we had a monitor lizard down our small soi so I took photo/video of it but they are so poor it is indistinguishable so I desperately need to replace it. Apart from the fact the lens is scratched as I took the protective cover off, I've looked at the specs and although a dual camera it is 12 mp x 5 mp, and only 3 years old !

So revisited the thread and checked the M11 Lite 5G recommended by Fab5BKK. It's only Snapdragon 780G but in the GSM review was faster even than Poco's 860 and the camera is better than the Poco, 64 MP as opposed to 48 and has the 5 MP macro as recommended by Bruno.

So can I get it for under 10K? I want the 8GB/128GB version ,I've dismissed a couple of cheap ones on Lazada with no seller ratings but Lazada has one for 10,999 Baht, they have 95% seller rating but one year warranty apparently.

It would have to be in the policy and if I read something on those lines, I wouldn't take out the policy in the 1st place.

When Cigna and Southern Cross said they wouldn't insure my pre-existing condition, I said fine, and move on, and found an insurer who would for an extra $60USD a month, the way I figure it is if you are going to take thousands of dollars off of me for insurance, then I want to be insured, not excluded, that said, when you have funds to back you, you can self insure, however, better to have insurance IMO that way if something does happen, your back up money doesn't get touched.

If no one would insure my pre-existing condition, then I would self insure, as much as it is their right to knock me back, I can also knock them back.

You are missing the point and I made it quite clear. RENEWAL. It was there when he tried to renew and in Europe they would insist on reading it out to you too.

Did the OP ask if it would simply cost more to cover the pre-existing?

It was only for a period and now I am covered for everything as usual.

I would argue that as it wasn't a pre-existing condition when I took out the policy, it cannot be a pre-existing condition, like health insurance, if you have a heart attack, they can't say when you joined us, you were healthy, now because of your heart attack, you are a higher risk.

Don't quote me, but those are my thoughts, as far as the life insurance, I know they can't do it because you are covered for life insurance.

    Here I am, quoting you.

    Quote

they can't say when you joined us, you were healthy, now because of your heart attack, you are a higher risk.

That is exactly what they can say and that is exactly what they can do and did to the OP when it came time to renew.

    in Europe you can't or?

In Asia you can. Luma just did it and again it was a really common sickness, nothing special which is why I am so furious ????

But yeah they just told me to go somewhere else, Cigna here I come.

Similarly with my European policies. Though mine was a damaged hand. So they excluded that particular injury because of course it would then qualify as a pre-existing condition.

So now yours is a pre-existing condition. One time makes no difference. Though since you haven't told us the illness, we don't know if it seems an appropriate action.

They stated what they bought back in May. Perhaps you are getting confused with the poster who added his question to this thread.

Remember the OP's budget was 5k and he wanted it for taking pictures. There was never a Redmi Note 10 Pro for anywhere near 5k.

It's likely that that room will cost more when he comes to renew his lease, once the economy is picking up a little. Landlords have been reducing rents over the past year, a previously 4000 Baht room in Hua Hin is now around 3600, but they often won't give a full 12 month lease right now.

Possibly not. as the price was 4k before COVID struck. It's actually under 4k now.

    Britman too,

I have had a post paid AIS for 10 years. Contract is up for renewal this month.

It offers 30GB of data which I never use and 300 minutes of free calls which I never use for like 600 baht a month. I only ever call my other half. All other calls are via internet to the UK or on free apps.

It's a complete waste of money and looking at yours, it looks like the ideal plan if I can keep my number.

It's not being stingy, it's just wasteful at the moment on my reckoning..

If you want to keep the number and obtain the Marathon Pack that BritManToo uses; you can speak to the retentions department at AIS to see if they can offer that option to you.

If they refuse; you can just convert your Postpaid account to a Prepaid account of the same number and apply an unlimited data package to that for between 150 & 300 baht per month, dependent on the speed required. Promo for this month. Call centre will know; shops usually not.

    4 Mbps 150

    10 Mbps 200

    20 Mbps 300

I have never had a WP and have opened 4 bank accounts, The Bank of Ayudhya aka; yellow bank was the friendliest and easiest, not sure if they still do but used to have 'A tourist' account.  Bangkok bank was the worst even with a retirement visa, insisting on a WP but it does depend on whether the staff can be bovered. As already suggested Tourist areas will be more accommodating. Don't forget there are a lot of things you can't do over the counter unless it is the branch where you open the account. Good luck but I would try the Bank Of Ayudhya first.

Bad advice for the Pattaya resident. Bangkok Bank is actually a sure thing here.

Great advice. Only look around the tourist areas, they are used to dealing with foreigners. Since you are new here, all these branches make up their own rules based on who the manager is. Just because it is a rule that must be followed at one branch, it certainly does not mean another branch won't totally ignore that rule.

    It's the Pattaya board....I think it's a tourist area.

Once some people get wound up they really go for it don't they & some porkies here as well

Like , every KTB savings account attracts interest, sure small at present but credited twice a year.

Banks discourage opening accounts on a tourist visa (not sure what the law says) & having been in

the industry I do not blame them as all these guys gung ho about their future here, most fall by the wayside & leave tiddly amounts in an account which when you have thousands of them ( & that is what would happen) they are a pain in the proverbial for the bank.

A bona fide person with the right reasons for opening ( A promises of sending 100,000 transfers every month is not a reason, as they have heard it all before) & a pleasant disposition will never have a problem opening an account

Why are accounts with a small amount left in them a pain in the proverbial for the banks?

Bona fide? What are you talking? Pleasant disposition? You are really just making this all up. ????

Siam Legal provide this service for 4500 THB. I'm in the process of doing the same thing - arriving on a TR & converting to a Retirement. Got an email from them this morning to arrange a meeting to sort when I arrive in Chiang Mai.

The other ways (covered in the other replies) were too hit and miss (& time consuming) for me. I need the account open quickly so will throw some money at it and remove the hassle.

You may book for our service for opening a bank account through this
    page:
    https://www.siam-legal.com/other-services/opening-a-bank-account-in-thailand.php

Seems that you have convinced yourself.

Do you need to be told that this is the Pattaya board? Your post has nothing to do with anything here.

    Quote

After you have made the payment, our staff will contact you to arrange an appointment in our office and to arrange the opening of bank account in Bangkok only

    Chiang Mai? Bangkok?

There is no hit & miss here; it is as described.

It's not as if you just sit at home, pay the money and the give you a bank book and ATM card; you still have to run around.

The only difference is that they draft up a Guarantee letter that will cost you at least 3500 baht.

Not really going to make the original budget, but ...

Hands down for quality and value, the OnePlus family.

Best phone I ever owned, after almost 4 years of the OnePlus 6, I've just got a Oneplus 8T (International model) last year's flagship, they've launched the OnePlus 9 series so the 8s are almost half price, they come with 3 years of Android and Oxygen OS upgrades, and 4 years security patches. A rapid charger, (Samsung deleted their chargers!) Plus it comes with a factory fitted scratch screen and clear drop-case  too.  Dual SIM. 4 Cameras.

It's 5G ready. There's a new budget OnePlus Nord 2 (International) that's almost as good. And they price well on Amazon. Get the international version. Superior to the US version for some odd reason. Superior reviews to Xiaomi and Oppo in the same price range too. I used to have an Oppo. Fun fact: Oppo and OnePlus are merging as I write this.

Pure nonsense @ double the budget stated. Ridiculous!

Just bought a Galaxy A22 4G (5,600 Baht after discounts, 'officially' 7,000 Baht). First appeared around July, works great. They apparently only sell the model with the highest specs (6/128 GB) here in Thailand.

    720 x 1600 pixels(274 ppi), 20:9 ratio vs  1080 x 2280 pixels(403 ppi), 19:9 ratio on his current phone.

I wasn't quoting the specs of the Poco, just my limited knowledge of what differences to look for, and yes, I should have said Android version not windows !!! That shows my overall knowledge !

Thanks for the tip about the camera, I will look at some camera specs more closely.

The 11 lite you compared with is nearly 3 times more than I want to pay, any better suggestions than the Poco?

    You're budget is 3,500?

    thoughts Rudolph must be thinking....

...the deceased's family lives just 900 meters away...and they're accusing you and your wife of slandering their now dead son with a concocted coverup story that he was trying to rob you. They're also claiming your wife benefited from generous gifts of money that the dead son bestowed on your wife. The deceased had children and a mother who were to one degree or another depending on him. One way or another, they're probably telling themselves Nit would still be alive if it wasn't for her. All the makings of a blood feud. It's probably gonna take a substantial sum to make things right...wonder whose pocket the money's gonna come out of ...? for sure the deceased's family are eyeing the 300K bail money...probably thinking there's a whole lot more where that came from, too...

...just found out the wife has been knocking boots with her boyfriend down the road for the last several years. Holy plaa tuu! How could I have been so gullible to believe she was just chatting and drinking and playing dominoes with her girlfriends all this time? And the matter-of-fact way she pretended Nit was just a casual acquaintance when she was explaining everything to the police? Sends a shiver up my spine...How could I ever trust her again?

...Nit and Lek must have loved one another...what was their long term plan? Was she in on it?...they're saying she talked to him the same day he came to the house! Was he there to kill me? Did he say 'money, money, money' just loud enough so my wife could tell the police she heard him say this so everyone would think my murder was a robbery-gone-bad? my wife could have recognized him easily... why wasn't he worried that he might be recognized by her???

...what the blank am I going to do now? where am I gonna go? my whole life's been turned upside down...

Hey, Rudolph, if you're reading this PM me if I can help in any way. I can only imagine what you're going through, brother. Hang tough, you'll make it through this.

I think it was the other way around; the wife giving him money.
