AIS have 1gb mobile internet per month for bt 199.00

I rarely use internet on my mobile away from home or local bar's wifi..so should 1gb a month suffice?

How long is a piece of string? It's not 199, but 212.93 bt.

On the plus side, if you run out of data on that package you can add more GB inexpensively or just carrying on at 128 kbps/16 KB/s until the end of the month period.

  2. Here is a good resource: https://www.notebookcheck.net/The-Best-Notebook-Displays-As-Reviewed-By-Notebookcheck.120541.0.html

For a photographer screen quality comes first. It's fine waiting a millisecond longer for a RAW file to load, but poor screen quality can stymie your work.

Photographers and graphic designers are more likely to refer to Adobe RGB, but 100% Adobe RGB is too high a bar.

4k is also more suitable to a photographer. Who takes pictures at such a low resolution as 1920p x 1080p?

So you will need to make compromises. I suggest a good screen should score higher than just the latest CPU.

Indeed, foldable windows labtops are rare/expensive and have not impressed many as it needs major revision of the operating system. The following from a computer magazine (Jan 2020):

Asus, Dell, and HP have also not yet revealed any dual-screen or foldable Windows devices, but most of them are playing around with some prototype ideas. Dell introduced concept foldable and dual-screen labtpos this week, and Asus introduced a smaller 14-inch dual-screen labtop.. All of these devices, including  Intel's folding concept, are also running a standard version of Windows 10 that’s not designed with this new hardware in mind. It’s fair to say that Windows 10 looks janky and awkward in dual-screen and foldable hardware demonstrations. It reminds me of the early days of touchscreen laptops, back when Windows 7 wasn’t designed and built around screens you could touch. Microsoft then went all-in on touchscreens with Windows 8 to much criticism, and is now taking a careful approach with Windows 10X.

Something like the (non foldable) Notebook Dell Inspiron 5593-W566054461PTHW10 might fit your specs, costs about 25,000 Baht.

I think you have grabbed the wrong end of the stick with the foldable concept. The OP is simply referring to laptop that have 360 degree hinges.

But as others have stated, best to let go of the gimmicks in order to get something of suitable quality.

IPS screens are 'two a penny', but getting a high quality screen with a wide colour gamut and suitable brightness is another thing altogether.

The DELL you mention, even if it has the IPS screen option(that is unclear), it only covers 54% of sRGB.

This thread was very good when it started, and had good info on it, but now I will have to trawl through 15 pages or more to find that info again, just because certain people want to mouth off and show their ignorance.

I already said a few pages back I had made a decision and requested noone second guess my decision and thanked everyone for their input.

But it seems that all fell on deaf ears.

Hover over their names and click on 'ignore user'. It clears up the thread nicely.

If you have another spare USB Flash drive and want to have version 1909 on Standby in the unlikely case there are insurmountable problems with version 2004, we can do that.

Plug in USB Flash drive in to current PC, download and run https://github.com/pbatard/rufus/releases/download/v3.11/rufus-3.11.exe

Choose to let it check for updates(if you cannot see that option, look to the bottom of the application and you will see four small blue icons. Click on the third from the left). There you can choose to enable updates.

The rest of the guide you can see here: https://www.nextofwindows.com/downloading-windows-10-iso-images-using-rufus

Select 1909 Build 18363.997 and follow the prompts.

So if any serious issues with 2004, you can choose to start again with 1909, first formatting the disk and deleting any partitions created by 2004.

    So, only if you are attempting to install 1909 after failing to install 2004, you follow these steps;

    04-Cutom-Windows-10-Clean-Install-640x4805-Delete-Existing-Primary-Partition-Win

You must delete all of the partitions on the SSD, not just the one on the pic, until you are left with only un-allocated space.

Then you can proceed with the installation.

This is only as a back up if I'm not around to guide you. Hopefully 2004 will install without issue and you won't need it.

I’ve always wanted to try 5 guys but never had one close enough to me.  I’ve heard they’re the best and looking at pictures of them, I don’t doubt it for a minute.

I liked to eat at Gourmet Burger King. But at up to £13 for a burger, I would only visit when my Tastecard(TM) offered me a 50% discount.

Not sure that they are still around.

dont  think it was 91 think 73 was highest rate in them there days !!

In addition to my reply above, that was the 'official' rate. But include the exchanges who wanted to buy into a less volatile currency and there were probably people who were offered even more than 91. I may have even got more that that. I remember talking to a hotel receptionist about parity with the with the lowest unit of British currency.. 1 baht equalling 1 penny.

Errr you were obviously here for the temples.

I had a girlfriend with me, so a definite, yes. Beaches too. But strangely, no massages. Didn't like strangers touching me. Definitely no bars. Of course went to see a ping pong show. But that was a tiny part of the experience.

There was a demographic that simply visited for the cheap sex. But we were far, far away from that. On the forums, the sex tourists would describe us as dirty backpackers and all sorts of other derogatory names, as if somehow they were superior. Slagging off western women etc

It's the sex tourists who don't understand there is a life other than theirs.

Your 'temples' comment is telling....as if you cannot believe that tourists can be in Thailand without partaking in the sex industry. A bit sad IMHO.

  8. In '97, a Big Mac meal cost 55 baht. The rate to the £ was 91 baht.

I literally couldn't spend much even if I wanted to do so. I deliberately set my budget at 500 baht per day and couldn't spend it. So I extended my holiday by months and still had money left over.

Maybe because I can't read Thai...and that is just a picture in the first post, not a link to where it's offered.

And there is no Truemove offer link posted anywhere in this thread either for me to check out, or I would.

I can google "offers" all day and never find the ones being shown here.  So it's not as easy as "google it"

If you want to use the codes in the first post on a new DTAC SIM, the syntax is thus: *104*517# then to press the Dial key or *104*517*9# then to press the Dial key. The '9' indicates English language if I remember correctly.

The reason why there is Thai script on the picture before the hash(#), is to indicate that is where affiliates can place their identifying number. It's not for you. So just use the syntax above or show it to someone at a DTAC service centre and let them apply it to a new SIM for you.

Bear in mind that the promo may end today. Perhaps there will be a new one for August.

As others have related, and as I have seen personally ( a dog just come out of nowhere and bite someone I was with) ,  there is no sure way to know what an unknown dog....or worse yet group of dogs,

will do.   They do not always have to be provoked .

It only takes one time of being trusting to end up on the wrong end.  Many are right to be scared, and all should be prepared. Even more so when on a bike.

I do agree that generally being friendly instead of aggressive with dogs (and people) is the preferred way to act.   But experience tells us me that once in a while that action

    is not reciprocated.

    I don't disagree.

As I recounted, the one time when an unknown dog made a beeline for me, another dog came out of nowhere to do the protecting.

We don't give them enough credit. They are intelligent animals.

But that can happen with any build - 1909 failed on my Lenovo B310 as video driver did not support installed monitor 1080 resolution - had to clone from old HDD when making upgrade to SSD.  But indeed 2004 is a nightmare and can not upgrade my computer (tried 3 times over last month or two).  At one point they removed and said not ready but then said ready again but my computer says otherwise - just goes to never never land.

Do you have Windows Update KB4557956 installed?

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004 is a place to check for reported issues, amongst others.

This what I have on my flash drive.

It's fine. You cannot tell from that. But if you download direct from Microsoft, you get the latest. If there are major issues with 2004, I'll supply the previous iteration. Nothing bad can happen.
