  1. The Bank of Thailand requires this information from the bank. If the reason isn't stated on the remittance documentation when received by the bank, the bank will call the recipient and ask. Even with the reason stated, the bank may ask anyway. I'm not sure if there is a formal threshold.
  2. Longer warranties appear when a market becomes more sophisticated and competitive.
  3. I would also add that at all times in your discussions with the directors of the juristic entity that you remain polite. You want the directors on your side, so don't antagonize them. Give them time to formulate a solution and get back to you, but do set a timeframe for their response. But if verbal discussions and perhaps emails don't result in action on their part, then formal letters addressed to each of the directors by name and sent by registered post to the juristic entity should be considered. You may want to ask a lawyer to draft and write the letter if it does get to this point. But I don't think you're quite at this point yet.
  4. Go back to Big C and demand written evidence, including date and transaction number, that a credit to your debit card was processed. Present this to your bank and ask them to confirm it has been received. My experience with "it has been processed" means that it has to some extent been dealt with internally by the company, not that it has actually been credited back to the debit or credit card or account. Refunds can sit for one or more accounting cycles before being credited to your card depending upon the company's internal policy.
  5. At this point, I don't think you will have success dealing with the admin office. It also sounds like your wife is taking the Thai approach of avoiding any confrontation. I think that the solution to your problem lies in dealing with the directors on the board of the juristic entity. Have you met face to face with any of the directors apart from during a general meeting? If not, then see if you can have a meeting with one or more of the directors to explain the problem and ask for resolution. Don't go through the admin office. Contact the directors directly and ask for a meeting. You can escalate to letter writing later if this fails. By the way, what is the extent of the damage to your condo? Is it only soggy wallpaper or is the damage more significant? Do you have insurance on your unit? If so, see about filing a claim. That may indirectly open discussions with the management company and the board about remedying the underlying issue.
  6. Ok. I think in most cases the admin office is staffed by the employees of the company hired to manage the property by the juristic entity that owns the property. The property management company may not be motivated to help you. While you have verbally brought this up at a general meeting, I think the next step is to write to the individuals who are the directors of the juristic entity and explain your problem and ask them to intercede with the building management company. Put it in writing and state that you want a written response with a timeframe to correct the problem and ask them to identify the person who will be responsible for carrying it out.
  7. Sometimes there really is a witch. Or worse.
  8. But a review of the articles I can find indicate that computers, tablets and phones are also subject to the ban on account sharing. I think this is being implemented country by country based upon the main subscriber's location and not all countries have been added yet.
  9. I think I read somewhere that password sharing was only being blocked on TVs and not on computers, tablets and phones. Can't find that article now, however.
  10. If you closely read section 19 as quoted in freeworld's post, you'll see that the limitations cited are all predicated upon a return having been filed. It is completely silent on limitations when no return is filed. I am not sure whether the RD's regulations deal with the limitation on non-filing elsewhere or whether this falls back on the Thai Civil and Commercial Code with respect to the statute of limitations for various issues.
  11. This is the limitation for taxpayers who have filed tax returns. My understanding is that the RD can go back 10 years if no tax return has been filed.
  12. When my children were in school, I compared the cost of Berkeley with several other schools. Even with a 50% discount, Berkeley was more expensive that a number of other international schools.
  13. Just received the MEA bill for April this morning. 7,013 baht. Last month was 4,434 and February was 2,981.
  14. With their orange Jesus in the dock, it would seem strange for Republicans to make crime a campaign issue.
  15. 8 is also for naturalized Thais who have a blue Thai ID card.
  16. "...Surawat suggests that the tax would not deter foreign tourists..." If the problem is over-tourism, you want the tax to deter tourism.
  17. A family member had unauthorized debit card transactions and contacted the bank. The bank investigated and determined that the transactions were indeed fraudulent and reimbursed the amount taken. It took a couple of weeks.
  18. Are you working directly with the company that has been hired to maintain the building, or have you escalated this to the condo's juristic person manager?
  19. But will the FIA agree to hold races exclusively on sidewalks and hard shoulders?
  20. It is becoming more and more difficult not to see the Republican Party as a criminal organization.
  21. If you have a debit card, try using that number instead of your credit card. I don't have a Citibank credit card, but was able to activate the app and get access to my account using my debit card number.
  22. Citibank Thailand operates under Thai banking regulations but structurally it is a branch of Citibank N.A. This means that accountholders are creditors of Citibank N.A. and not a locally incorporated subsidiary or joint venture. Citibank's liability to accountholders would not be limited to any assets held in Thailand, but rather to Citibank N.A.'s balance sheet in the US. It isn't part of Citibank's US retail operations if that is what you mean.
  23. Haven't yet tried the UOB TMRW app. Will wait until after 6 pm on Monday. Citibank's operation here is a branch of the US corporation and not a subsidiary or joint venture. Accountholders therefore have recourse to Citibank US's balance sheet and Citibank is rated A+ by Standard & Poor's. Some may say it isn't important because the Thai government will insure deposits up to 1 million baht, but the Thai government's sovereign debt rating of BBB+ is lower than that of Citibank.
  24. I've also noticed delays in ACH pull transfers when I pay my children's university tuition via their schools' payment processors. In some cases it has taken about a week to complete.
