  1. In that case best to do some housekeeping as suggested by others - as said video (movies) are the most common large files and you may be able to just get rid of many with todays high speed internet - if you want to keep larger files of questionable legality probably best to use storage on an external drive - easy to attach a USB 2.5 inch laptop type drive and even USB 2 is fine for playback so no need for speed.
  2. Actually it is true - Bangkok Bank branch can not issue more than a six month statement of account - for anything longer they must obtain from Bangkok Hqs. What they can do is issue normal bank letters of account ownership/balance - which if using an Embassy letter of income is normally all that is required.
  3. If you are still using disk drive indeed would highly recommend change to SSD if you can afford. Will speed things up greatly and after clone you can mount your old C drive in external case to use for extra storage (for video/files and such no need for SSD. But suspect you should have a computer shop do this for you - if you have sensitive information on drive stand over them during the process.
  4. Scheduled payments are cancelled if prevented on day scheduled - as was the case for me on October 1 - as total transfer to Thailand was limited to an amount less than my scheduled transfer - no transfer was made and later advised it was canceled. Not likely to be a big issue if you schedule monthly transfers - even if happened one time would just extend payments a month longer.
  5. Actually his account at a Bangkok Bank branch is specific to that branch (the first 3 digits of the account number). Using another branch in same province should not be an issue but that account will be tied to that province and out of area fees charged if applicable for use in another area.
  6. The one time I had a DHL proposed invoice (after arrival in Thailand about 16 months ago and I let them keep). Total cost would likely have doubled and even then may not have received item. 900 baht service fee to authorize DHL to act as broker. 200 baht Customs fee 200 baht storage fee (min after 2 free days) 500 - 1450 handling fee (2% of customs duty + 7% VAT XXX baht Customs duty (unknown until determined by Customs). So from above costs without any duty would have been more than $45. So in effect likely more than original cost total - and as item could be classed as medical (not a drug - a physical item) and not allowed entry without special paperwork may not have received even with payment. I would be happy to receive your item with just the estimated customs payment and no extra paperwork/trips involved.
  7. 1. You can not move account to a different branch - you must set up a new account. 2. Bangkok Bank is useful for Wise transfers as they have an account there and can mark transfer as international if they flag it. But any bank account could be used - just extra paperwork to prove original funds came from outside Thailand. 3. If you already hold another bank account nothing preventing you moving funds into that account (unless now using funds for extension and they have to remain in account). No need to close account - just take out all the money.
  8. Actually this has been an issue for many years. I switched to 2 or 3 replaceable blade Bic many years ago and although blades were sometimes hard to find they were normally available from Tesco and found shave just as good as Gillette. But alas had to give up shaving due to bleeding issues and stuck with using electric these days (and indeed they are not a blade).
  9. Do not have that brand but on all I have used the inputs are listed as HDMI. But inputs can fail (or require a magic touch) so may well be set fault. Is this a new set? There are switch's available if you need multi inputs to one HDMI.
  10. As said you have to change the input source using remote to switch between ports. Many people use both ports at same time (video/cable/security etc).
  11. As said almost no reasonable cost out or dental plans that I am aware of here - and insurance is so unregulated as to be less than sure even when it seems sure. Probably best to have foreign sourced coverage rather than deal with local policy and if working here check on SS options for coverage also. This is not a country where people have more than required insurance (as getting payment almost requires you be among those wealthy enough to not need it). And on the flip side it is not billboard lawyer country with everyone trying to get something for nothing.
  12. From first report both immigration black listed. That may not be true but is what has been reported.
  13. They have collected 90 day for last several years - and also the TM-30 from me. I have no lease but live with wife and likely they still have that data in computer (although have used retirement for last decade). Believe bank statements are a normal ask now with new retirement funds in account rules (they had to lean how to read for income method no embassy letter countries) - passbooks often are updated with missing transactions if not done every month or two so could be used to hid account balance going low.
  14. Opticians fit your frames - they should not be doing any testing. That is done by ophthalmologists or optometrists (and in Thailand there are very few optometrists as it is a new field). Unless you are sure of qualifications probably best to go to hospital for real ophthalmologist exam and have them write the lens prescription (they may find an issue that needs attention) - then obtain glasses from Zenni or local optical shop.
  15. I did not mean without the Embassy letter - but seems other documents are being asked these days that were not previously required like passport translations/registration or such and office might be able to help with that. As for Bang Rak - they are even more busy with Thai marriages as it is the most popular place to register (for the name). They have always been overcrowded so expect the queue system is to make it work. I recall it was like sitting in a movie hall when tried to use several decades ago.
  16. Actually it has been well documented and is even in Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plates_of_Thailand#:~:text=Cars with red plates cannot, not allowed to use expressways. So he was driving at night in another province. He also appears to be accessory to a crime (or is the escape driver in a bank robbery free?).
  17. Actually without knowing the details it is hard to judge - perhaps price is all inclusive with less (or no) external paperwork required. The "one day" comment seems strange as normally it is only about an hour if you have paperwork required.
  18. That's interesting. Wise must be using International Format for that ACH transfer - most US banks don't and such transfers are no longer accepted for forwarding to Thailand. Although you will not get the same exchange rate (you are sending USD) and there will be a BBL NY fee charged it might remove the risks for some. But if Wise is not using international ACH format and just luck that funds were transferred on by NY might not be so risk free. You are doing this and these are recent transfers?
  19. Just do at another Amphur. Don't ask for trouble.
  20. Hydrogen peroxide was the norm when I was in high school (50's) and still seems to be a good self treatment (although likely not meeting MD approvals - do they have a camera/light system for home use?). The one time I had a professional water removal procedure (90's) could not stand for an hour as totally lost all balance. Not a good feeling at all. That said believe most people do not have such issues and newer methods should be better.
  21. They had to go to that after fluoroscopes were banned (between 1957-70 most places). Suspect they are still being used - but have gone Crocs myself - too old to tie shoes.
  22. Back in the days we used x-ray (fluoroscopes) to check. Even in small towns.
