  1. Yeah hence I started this topic and we seemed to have found out the why, but somehow most didn't read it but do comment lol.
  2. You make a big thinking mistake there as the tax reporting systems are global and functional. The immigration system is not bad or complicated because they are incompetent, it is like that due to the corruption and money involved. Just look at the Thai banks, they had more functions like inter transfers 24/7 etc etc since over a decade already, that the west only got since a few years. They are much more modern than the very old systems we still use in the west on all these ends. It's peanuts for them to make a list of each person. Then the next argument is enforcement. They don't need to enforce at all, they only need to catch you on a random check and now it's a crime too.
  3. Yeah but if you have a girlfriend/wife and a kid that suddenly is not as easy, as of passport limitations on her side.
  4. Yeah I think actually usually people are moved to the police station, in that area, after they are processed. From there they are then moved elsewhere.
  5. Oh I meant at home, outside Bangkok. In BKK i always carry it.
  6. Most of them have, I never been there myself in Bangkok but pretty sure there is something. But maybe not, maybe that is why Bangkok is always so much worse in these situations. It would explain the stories.
  7. Maybe read again, what I said, and then you know the answer. Yes I always carry my passport if I go out further than 15 mins from my house, same as my wallet and phone. As well most times my laptop and chargers. I do that since 10 years. Everyone should do what they want but if you go out in Bangkok, specially at night, you are smart to bring it with you. I always have everything with me, to basically be able to leave the country, if wanted or needed. Clothes are easy to buy again anyway. I store my to-go bags at MRT stations. Im used to always carrying my passport as it is a law in my country and I never had a ID card / always a passport.
  8. That's why I always carry my passport, even everyone thinks im a fool, never had issues losing my property, if I go out, specially in Bangkok. Having that during a raid in a club also ensures your the first to be on your way.
  9. I doubt that was about immigration, specially if it was on a bike. That was more likely to collect a bribe lol. They moved a friend of mine arrested for driving drunk that way to the police station too, to then start talking about options on the way and stopping at a ATM... He was on the way a few mins later.
  10. You would be taken to immigration first to identify who you are. Only if that is impossible, you would end up like that in the IDC. But you could for sure end up being in jail over night or even for a weekend, if not having it on your person + no phone.
  11. I spend that every month on restaurants and drinks. I did erase bar girls from my budget since covid, that's why I have more for food now. 5K a night average X 2 per week.
  12. No I don't think it is a lot too, it is quite normal in Europe at least. Most farmers in southern france already drink a karaf by lunch time.
  13. No it is not. Have you even read the topic so far? I think you miss the entire thing we discussed. For your non hangovers, yeah, that will be a personal thing. I can also drink much more than other people while still walking straight, behaving normal etc. But the hangovers, I do get, when deserved. However with the wine, often undeserved, it really comes from the specific wine.
  14. That's fine, if you sleep 10 hours after that and then spend 9 hours sober.
  15. Well we have to do that already in the first place technically speaking right? If living here for 180 days or more. Or what? The first time we all need to do that would be early next year. I'm kind of waiting for that first year to end and see what the news says, if it is bad, I'll be out. Not gonna file anything.
  16. Besides the hangover, I'm also sure it gives me a worse drunk in general, less happy. So for me it is simple; i'll stay away from the cheap ass wine and beer from now on. Better to drink less often and more expensive in that case, saves time, headaches + good for health.
  17. And you never get any headache at all, not even if you drink 2 bottles of southern hemisphere origin? Is that the same for others? Or only you?
  18. Yeah well that could still be relative, I mean of course wines here cost more as of taxes bla bla bla. But if it is about what we discussed, one can still try and get the best deal wine, as long it is not from a southern hemisphere origin country.
  19. What is a huge wine drinker? And do you drink every day? Then obviously you would also get less and less chance on a headache in the first place. I am talking about doing a dinner 1-2 times a week and then having easily a bottle of wine, or even 1.5. Im not that tall and only 65KG too but I can drink a lot.
  20. Well yeah but to remain on topic; i would be happy to drink some cheap box wine, if that is all there is, and it is cheap. But the hangover part is where it matters hehehe. So the question would be if it really is about the hemispheres as in that case, technically, a local produced (box) wine should be safe.
  21. The headaches are just as bad with expensive wines from those same countries, to my experience. I am aware that box wine is inferior, should not be allowed to call wine. You can see it by the color on the label of the bottles too.
  22. Yeah dohh. but we are in Thailand hence cheap wine does have everything to do with taste.
  23. Histamine and tyramine are biogenic amines. This is a group of chemicals that naturally occurs when fermenting grapes. These chemicals may cause headaches by binding to receptors along the blood vessels in the brain. Activating the receptors causes the blood vessels to widen, which may cause headaches.
  24. Well the french restaurant that always has French / Italian wines, NEVER gave me a bad hangover.
