Thailand reduces school hours in major curriculum overhaul

That would be one big radical improvement but I think we need to wait for another 2 decades for more oldies to die off first. -

Is like that billionaire from Brazil, he also wrote books, forgot his name, he actually made a school model that let every student do things at their own phase aside from entirely different styled etc, no country in the world wanted it or free. So then he made it a paid and private thing, it took off. -

All of this has long been proven to be nonsense, the only issue is that for the system to work in a modern slavery style, most people need to be processed on mass scales, hence we have education the way it is, we have jobs the way it is etc etc. Anyone who thought twice knows it is far superior and better, to do it without this, if having that chance and luxury by nationality on birth etc. Is the same where a employee style future means 40 hours, a business owned style future means 20 hours, for the same money. -

That is what a normal school day should be like in the first place, until near high school, then it is usually until 3:00PM. At least in Europe. -

Really? I would not have thought of that... Those are also so impossible to achieve without a school... Hence that most world traveling children have more world knowledge, more knowledge about nature, better social skills, better cultural knowledge, better language skills. Not to mention they still join sports clubs, music lessons or whatever else as usual too. Can play after school as usual too etc etc etc. -

If having that, might as well pay home education at 10-12K a month. Solves the potential 6 months per year due to taxes as well. -
Why is North Thai Pho so much worse than Pho from the South
ChaiyaTH replied to Yamu's topic in General Topics
People are lazy in the north, this is the issue most times if it comes to quality/service/standards etc. -

So many hours yet they learned absolute nothing by age of 18. Home schooling takes like 2-3 hours a day and most people outperform even International school standards with test scores etc. -
Best umbrella brand/type for Chiang Mai Raining Season?
ChaiyaTH replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in Chiang Mai
HomePro was selling nice portable ones for around 170 baht at the cashiers last time I was there a few weeks ago. Pretty sure that Makro or Decathlon otherwise have something decent that doesn't break or leak after a few times. The similar ones I bought still work now after 4-5 years. -
There is plenty of budget rooms to not having to take that risk but it happens enough in the backpacker places trust me. Same where they let 1 person take a dorm in low season, to then come back at night with 3 people etc etc. If one wakes up early enough, nobody ever notices. Just hangout with backpackers and return with them for a doobie in their guesthouse + usually free sleeping / shower is possible.

I've had so many times in the south, where people pay for example 5-7 days, but leave in between to full moon party for 1 day, where then some staff thinks that means they checked out. This sounds exactly like something like that potentially + both not speaking English on top. Same when people visit some smaller islands, they leave the big suitcases in that place, and travel light for 1-2 nights. I've even had situations where friends came home with someone else in their bed, because the room was double booked and given out / no proper key management. This while my friends bag was in the room lol.

All I could hear was an animal screaming that smoked for decades, oh sorry, i mean person with a isaan accent. No wonder the guy ignores her, she sounds like she went entirely mental. Sure the guy might be wrong as much but just saying, what a typical Thai news video was this again. Would not be surprised if it turns out to even a a FK up from the hotel, that he paid already and still had a key for his remaining days. No logic in the story, the guy behaves normal and calm, hangs his towel to dry even, who would do that in a case like this, with a nut job screaming at you on top. Maybe he was army.

Career Networking While in Thailand
ChaiyaTH replied to kingofallasians's topic in Job wanted in Thailand - Hire me!
Best chance would simply be by going out a lot in Bangkok at the expat bars or other places where you get to talk. Then you usually will meet people who know already 1-2 people, and then from there you easily get to know people. There is usually always work awaiting to be done, due to the shortage in being able to find programmers. -

Seems you have no clue what you are talking about, he could easily make 4-5K USD a month just doing small gigs with Python, PHP and SQL, his main skills. I do the exact same thing and not even work fulltime. -
Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
ChaiyaTH replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
One wonders when they finally update anything about this, I mean people would suddenly all need accountants or tax numbers etc etc etc. Let alone the global taxes potentially, to keep us in the dark now since june 5th? -

ChaiyaTH replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Small or big fish is not relevant, they do not have to chase us, we will come to them for our visa's and when we arrive or depart regardless. And then it's a criminal thing to not have filed and paid the taxes too, resulting in still paying + a fine + potential jailtime + blacklist. It's very naive to think that way. -

That's the only thing that bothers me right now, and I have to enroll him end of this year too. We could live 6 months on and off but then how to do that with school. Only option reasonable so far seems to be doing homeschooling, but that will take even more time from me for sure, as I am pretty sure she will not do it properly. I think for myself and most people it eventually leads to just coming here for holidays if at all. One part in me says they will never do it anyway but at the same time they have done so many things nobody expected, this would not be that surprising anymore. I mean, they even stop giving people non-o single entry visa's if not having 400K in a Thai bank, which defeats the entire purpose of that visa for those who live abroad and visit 1-2 times a year for 2-3 months. They clearly been motivating us to leave since nearly a decade. -
Claiming Legal Fees as Damages in Thai Lawsuits
ChaiyaTH replied to ElephantEgo's topic in General Topics
You are aware that you are speaking about like nearly a year minimum wage, like western terms: 15-20K USD, if you say it is reasonable for Thailand? The court here assumes minimum wages, that is why many fines are considered a joke to us aka very low. Like child support by judge is only 3K a month at most. To have received 50,000 baht is actually a lot already I think. -
Thai Hotels Object to 75% Foreign Condo Ownership Proposal
ChaiyaTH replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That's the main thing that Thailand offers yes, the rest is just classical things that are not extraordinary such as: beaches, mountains, temples, some basic water parks and general activities you have basically anywhere already, and they cost a lot most times. That is the entire reason they have been trying since 5 years to diversify the offerings here from TAT and Gov side. It is also clearly visible in guesthouses etc, there is way less offerings and flyers than there once were, or they simply not run at all during low season. To not start about that half is not maintained and old (zoo's, waterparks etc etc). -

You must have been living under a rock if you didn't see how everything in nightlife, activities and more has been in a heavy downtrend ever since 2019. No matter where you go, even nana or soi 6 in pattaya, it's not close to how it once was. And that is just one thing, I was talking other events. Everything here is just simple, same shopping streets, there is barely variety.
