Picture; Sanook Sanook reported on a murder of a man at a block of flats in Muang Mai, Bang Plee, Samut Prakan in the Bang Sao Thong police jurisdiction at 1 am on Monday. CCTV from outside showed three men arrive on motorcycles. Then on the fifth floor they are seen knocking on the door of a room and going in with a woman coming out. Siriya, 25, was taken to hospital with stab wounds to the abdomen and other parts of his body. He died later in Bang Na 2 hospital. Picture; Sanook The men who had arrived took Chaiya, 24, to hospital with an injury to his left eyebrow. Reporters went to the scene and found a lot of blood all over the walls. The block manager said that the room was rented by a couple who were always arguing. Neighbors said the wife liked to go out but the husband stopped her. Bang Sao Thong police have charged Premsuk, 24, Jiraphan, 25, and Chaiya with assault causing death. Fingerprints and DNA from the three as well as the woman, Kanitha, 22, have been taken. She said that she had known the deceased for 5 months. He liked to drink beer at home and stopped her going out. He had bought two beers and drunk them then an argument developed after she showered and made as if to go out. He threatened her with a knife. She called her close friend at work, a man called Premsuk to come and help. She said they had developed a close relationship over the last two months. When he arrived with his friends her husband was already holding a knife and attacked one of them. A melee developed in which her husband was repeatedly stabbed. Premsuk said that she had contacted him early in the evening and he decided not to do anything. But when she called again later he said that he invited his friends to go with him for support to help Kanitha. Jiraphan said that he had gone along too to assist his friend. Investigations continue. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-29 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Rising Covid Hospital Admissions Prompt Vaccination Centers To Expand Service Times by Namo Vananupong BANGKOK (NNT) - As COVID-19 daily infection numbers rise in many areas of the world, Thailand is also experiencing a resurgence in Covid hospital admission numbers. Covid patient admissions have risen to almost 5,000 in the latest 7-day period, prompting vaccination centers to expand their service times. The Department of Disease Control revealed 4,914 persons were admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 between November 20 and 26. 553 of these persons developed pneumonia, 319 required intubation, and 74 lost their lives. The figures continued to rise from prior weeks. Of the 533 patients with pneumonia, 126 were unvaccinated against COVID-19. 13 of the patients had just one dose of the vaccine and 109 patients had two doses. 68 patients already had a booster shot but the latest jab was more than 3 months ago. 3 patients had a booster shot within 3 months of being infected. Almost all of the 74 deaths were attributable to the ‘608 Group’ of persons at heightened risk of severe Covid symptoms. 38 of the deceased were unvaccinated. More people have recently expressed interest in receiving a shot of Covid vaccine. The vaccination center at the Ministry of Public Health in Nonthaburi will operate on an extra day this Wednesday (30 November). In December, it will offer its service on the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th. Visit times are 9 am to 2 pm. The Pfizer vaccine is the only type of vaccine available. Recipients must be at least 12 years old. The Institute of Dermatology at Victory Monument in Bangkok is now offering Covid vaccination from Monday to Friday each week, excluding public holidays. It will also operate on Saturday, December 17. Visit time is from 9 am to 3 pm. People whose last Covid jab was more than 4 months ago are invited to come in for a booster. All nationalities are welcome to receive the free service. Vaccine recipients must be at least 5 years old. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health has confirmed it is not calling off New Year’s celebrations in light of increasing Covid hospital admission numbers. Messages saying otherwise have been circulating and these have been confirmed as fake news. The health ministry is currently monitoring all Covid variants and subvariants and has not proposed the cancellation of New Year’s festive events. Bangkok’s Bang Sue Grand Station – touted as Southeast Asia’s most modern rail terminus – opened with little fanfare last year as COVID-19 dominated headlines. Its role as the national rail hub has also been delayed by well over a year. However, the pandemic also made Bang Sue Grand Station a household word among Thais. Hundreds of thousands flocked to the station between May 2021 and September this year to get vaccinated against the new coronavirus. Bang Sue served as the city’s main vaccination center, delivering more than 6 million shots over 16 months. Now that the infection rate has fallen and a central vaccination center is no longer necessary, Bang Sue Grand Station can go back to its original job – serving as a railway hub. Bangkok’s new central station From January next year, all commercial trains will switch from the old Bangkok station of Hua Lamphong to Bang Sue, explained Nirut Maneephan, State Railway of Thailand (SRT) governor. Thai man who shot 18 times at school could face attempted murder charge, says chief of police Picture: Thai Rath The chief of police in the southern Thai province of Ranong told Thai Rath that the man who shot 18 times at a school from high up at an adjacent property could face attempted murder charges. Picture: Thai Rath The chief of police in the southern Thai province of Ranong told Thai Rath that the man who shot 18 times at a school from high up at an adjacent property could face attempted murder charges. The Ming Sin school in Muang district caters to people of Chinese descent and has 1,500 pupils aged from kindergarten to P6. It was Sunday so a day off but it was earlier reported that some pupils were at the school doing a practice. Yesterday Ranong police chief Pol Maj-Ben Chertpong Chiwapreecha went to visit the school where there was a police and DOPA presence outside and within the campus to reassure students and staff. He said that the suspect is refusing to talk and named him as 43 year old Suwan Chelermwutthai. Staff heard 18 shots. Picture: Thai Rath He used an air gun and Chertpong said that in such cases the shooter usually has other weapons and so it proved. He also legally owned a 9mm gun for which he had two magazines and a .22 rifle. Both weapons have been seized as well as the air gun and will have their licenses revoked. Picture: Thai Rath The assaailant is believed to have been annoyed by noise coming from the school for years. Chertpong defended the use of military force to arrest the suspect saying it was a serious case that could have had worse consequences were other weapons used. Taking the law into his hands like this was not correct and he said it was so serious and repeated that it could amount to attempted murder. It was certainly more serious than common assault. Charges have yet to be laid in the matter. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-29 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
