  2. by Namo Vananupong BANGKOK (NNT) - International tourists’ activity has picked up due to the continuous scaling down of COVID-19 restriction measures around the globe. Amid this renewed vigor in the tourism scene, major accommodations booking platform Agoda has found Bangkok to be the most popular destination among tourists globally. It also found Pattaya City to be the eighth most popular destination. Online travel booking platform Agoda made the findings after having compiled data on room booking made via the platform from May to August this year. It found Bangkok to be the number one destination drawing interest from foreign tourists. Agoda noted Thailand’s near-complete lifting of Covid travel restrictions and disease control measures. It made the observation that nightlife venues, beaches, cultures, and myriad foods await tourists who visit Thailand. Other destinations Agoda said were among the top five most popular among its users were, in respective order, Jeju island of South Korea; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Tokyo, Japan; and Seoul, South Korea. Thailand’s Pattaya City was the 8th most popular destination, owing to it being a seaside city renowned for its nightlife scene. According to Agoda, Pattaya was also appreciated for its sandy beaches, delectable food offers, and gorgeous hotels. With international travel slowly returning to normal, the government has laid down a tourism restoration plan for 2023. Emphasis is placed on creating value for each journey taken and improving marketing competitiveness. These efforts are aimed at enabling sustainable growth of tourism. To achieve this aim, meaningful and memorable experiences will be fostered and made into qualities that attract tourists. Thailand’s soft power will also be leveraged as the country takes aim at becoming a “world-class destination”. The government wishes to promote Thailand as a destination that can be enjoyed year-round. The target for tourism income generation in 2023 is 2.38 trillion baht. Thailand’s tourism attractions are by no means clustered in just Bangkok and Pattaya. Several other destinations – Chiang Mai and Phuket to name a few – are also highly rated by travelers. As hosts to the tourists, people in Thailand are encouraged to take care of existing tourist attractions and seek new experiences that can be offered to travelers. This should be pursued while adequately meeting health requirements. The gradual revitalization of holiday-making worldwide presents Thailand with a good opportunity to attract tourism income and thus revive its economy. 6. by James Morris and Son Nguyen The latest arrest of a foreign tourist for breaching Thailand’s strict laws on the conservation of natural resources follows a string of incidents since 2017. The 22-year-old Dutchman will be brought before the court in Phuket but is certain to be afterwards deported and blacklisted from the country if convicted of a criminal offence under the 2019 National Parks Act. Police officers in Phuket are preparing a case against a Dutch tourist who was arrested by police on Monday afternoon following public outrage over a TikTok video and an order from the Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment to apprehend him after he used a speargun to kill parrot fish off Phi Phi Leh, in a protected natural park near Krabi and Phuket. The 22-year-old man faces up to five years of imprisonment if convicted in court and will almost certainly be ordered deported and blacklisted from the kingdom. A Dutch tourist in Thailand has found himself at the centre of criminal prosecution while facing up to 5 years in jail after hiring a boat to go fishing off Ko Phi Phi island in Phuket on Tuesday 9th August last. The story erupted several days later when Thailand’s crusading natural resources and environment minister, Mr Varawut Silpa-archa, was alerted to a video posted on the social network site Tik Tok which showed 22-year-old Mr Roslan B. holding aloft 5 exotic looking fish specimens including, according to the minister, two endangered and very rare parrot fish. 7. Will the Thai authorities ever tighten up on entertainment licenses? OPINION Seems the recent Mountain B fire tragedy is opening a can of worms, with authorities trying to find out who are the actual owners. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1269179-will-the-thai-authorities-ever-tighten-up-on-entertainment-licenses/
  8. Seems the recent Mountain B fire tragedy is opening a can of worms, with authorities trying to find out who are the actual owners. The incident caused 13 people to be immediately killed, and six others were pronounced dead at the hospital, bringing the total number to 19 deaths as of August 16th. Additionally, eight people are seriously injured and on a ventilator, and more than 30 injured people are still being treated at hospitals. This unnecessary tragedy has dominated the media for the past two weeks and still no one knows who should carry the can. This week the 19th victim has died in hospital, leaving a small daughter orphaned as the girl’s father also died in the club earlier. The sad thing is the girl’s grandmother does not even have enough money to pay for their funerals. Police presence The local police continue to make their presence at ‘Mountain B’ nightclub since fatal fire killed 19 people. According to their statement, the police will be deployed to keep an eye on the scene until an engineering team will come to investigate and conclude the final cause of the fire. Meanwhile, no one was allowed to enter or move things inside and around the scene. Now it would seem the 27-year-old man who originally said he was the owner, is not the big boss, but his 57-year-old father, Somyot Panprasong. An arrest warrant was issued against Somyot Panprasong, on Monday 15th August. More than ten police officers from the Chonburi Provincial Police surrounded the suspect’s house before conducting a search following the warrant. Somyot was nowhere to be found and had not yet presented himself to the police. Firstly, before the investigations and eventual court proceedings commence, which could take months even years, surely the government should step up and offer both financial and practical help to the survivors and the families of the bereaved. Of course, the local authorities are at fault for not checking on the new bar in the first place. The owner or most likely several investors/owners should be held to account, and one hopes that the place had insurance however the insurance company is likely to step away as the place was obviously not following safety guidelines. Of course, nightclub premises catch fire weekly around the world, but should we the public be put at risk unknowingly in the first place? The sad conclusion is that if this fire had happened in a bar in LK Metro or Soi Cowboy and tourists were killed, the global media would come down like a ton of bricks on the Thai authorities. Let’s hope that the Government will punish everyone who was involved with Mountain B. . As for the process after an arrest warrant was issued against Somyot Panprasong, the presumed actual bar owner, on Monday, more than 10 police officers from the Chonburi Provincial Police were deployed to surround the suspect’s house before conducting a search following the warrant. Somyot was nowhere to be found and had not yet presented himself to the police. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-08-18 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. They crossed Mendocino Purps and LA Confidential, producing a pale green plant with flashes of blue and purple. Nice to look at but even better to smoke, which brings out its floral and herbal smell, leaving an aftertaste with fruity accents. Its 16-20% THC content brings on a surprisingly balanced high that doesn’t bely its wholly-Indica parent line. There is a definite increase in focus with Cali Kush, but it is also known to relieve stress, melt away distracting thoughts and reduce bodily aches and pains. This is, believe it or not, an Indica that can be enjoyed at any time of day. Blue OG is bred by following the lineage of Blueberry F3, Blue Moonshine, and OG Kush. These dark, cone-shaped buds characteristic of OG genes emanate notes of berry and citrus, and leave its consumer feeling euphoric and relaxed. Though its effects are cerebrally targeted, Blue OG is known to also tackle pain, relax muscles, and relieve nausea. Learn more: https://go.prikpot.com/aseannow GMO Cookies It’s also called Garlic Cookies, but GMO Cookies sounds much more inviting, doesn’t it? Bred by crossing Girl Scout Cookies and Chemdawg, this strain has definitely inherited a rich and sticky consistency. Once you taste it, you’ll understand why some add the “garlic” to the name. GMO Cookies has a spiciness to its flavor, an edge that mimics the strength that comes with its average of 28% THC levels. GMO is slightly on the strong side, so it’s best to test the waters to find how much is right for you, but once you land in the zone, it will prove to be one of the most relaxing Indicas you can find. You’ll feel a quick wave of release through your joints and muscles before it moves to the head too and guides you into a completely relaxed state. This is a deep and long-lasting high that commonly flows naturally into great deep sleep. Learn more: https://go.prikpot.com/aseannow Why order from PrikPot? 19. Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath reported on a truly pitiful story after a man was found dead in a house in the village of Ban Nong Bua Neua in the police jurisdiction of Satuek in Buriram, NE Thailand. Thongdee, 57, had been dead at least 4 days and was covered in maggots. Neighbors had reported a terrible smell to Pol Lt-Col Charnchai Khamdeekert of the Satuek police. Near the deceased in a bed surrounded by a mosquito net was his bedridden mother Nuan, 82, who was oblivious to his demise. All she would say to rescue personnel as they gathered up the remains of her son was that she was starving hungry and hadn't eaten for four days. She had survived only on tap water. She claimed that her son had purposefully starved her because he wanted to get his hands on her house and land. She said he was a habitual drunk who used her disability benefits to buy himself booze and then would beat her. Sometimes he would eat in front of her and when she begged for food he'd just say: "Not for you". She said they'd been living in the house together for ten years and had no other relatives. A neighbor called Danita, 59, said that she had heard him deny her food and beat her. She reported the matter to the police but when they arrived Nuan preferred not to press charges saying she "loved her son". Neighbors were reluctant to go into the house to help the bedridden woman as she was suffering from tuberculosis. Thai Rath referred to the son with the name of "luuk thoraphee"; this refers to an ungrateful son from a Ramakian (Ramayana) legend about two buffalos. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-08-17 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 21. Daily News Thai Caption: What's your heart made of? Daily News reported on sickening violence in the home of a young mother and her new love interest, a man aged 21, in northern Thailand. Relatives had arrived at the Naresuan University Faculty of Medicine, Phitsanulok after two year old "Nong Khao" had been admitted. She died from a ruptured spleen and ruptured liver and had blood in her stomach. Medics advised the family to contact the campus police. The family took away the body of the little girl for a temple cremation. But this was not the end of their grief. A six month old baby boy called "Best" - who has a different father - is being treated for a damaged liver, broken arm, dislocated leg and bruising round an eye. A grandmother said that early in the morning she heard the sound of the children screaming - then everything went quiet. The seventeen year old mother tried to conceal what had happened. Both her and the stepfather were interrogated for seven hours, said Muang Phitsanulok station chief Pol Col Phakphoom Prasriphoom. Finally the stepfather admitted what he had done claiming that he didn't mean to harm the children he was "just teaching them a lesson". He said that the little girl had been playing with a plug and he only hit the baby boy in the body. Police are gathering further evidence ahead of prosecution. Daily News said in their photo caption of the pitiable sight of the little girl's coffin in the back of a van: What is your heart made of?
