100 villagers pay homage to termite mounds in the shape of breasts Sanook Thai Caption: Mmm...those look familiar! Sanook Thai Caption: Mmm...those look familiar! Sanook went to the north east of Thailand after reports that two termite mounds had appeared in a village's holy area to honor grandparents. The mounds were side by side and it was unmistakable what they were. A couple of large lady's breasts topped with pointy nipples. This was clearly a sign from the nether world. One hundred villagers - armed with joss-sticks, flowers and offerings had gathered for a ceremony conducted by a medium. Picture: Sanook This was to divine the lottery numbers for the next draw (July 1st). "It's a miracle", the faithful declared in Moo 13 of Huay Rai sub-district, Lomsak, Phetchabun. The medium intoned an incantation about phlegm, a bottle of booze and a pill - this helped to determine that the numbers would be 672 and 89. The medium started shaking uncontrollably and Janpheng, 57, the owner of the land, started wailing near the breasts. Clearly the spirits that had formed the mammaries had now entered her body, or so it was believed. Janpheng told the press after the ceremony - that apparently put the hair on the back of everyone's neck up - that she saw the mounds a week ago but only realised they were special when the rains came and the nipples formed. She'd already won the lottery recently herself with other numbers. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-06-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath reported on an alarming case of horrific child abuse at an address in Sam Khok, Pathum Thani north west of the Thai capital Bangkok. Korya, 6, was found by the Sam Khok police dead in bed with horrendous injuries to her head and body. She was found at an address in Soi Wat Sakae on Wednesday. Her grandmother La-Or made excuses for the injuries and was interrogated overnight. But the case rested on a simple and damning piece of evidence - every time she attacked her little granddaughter she callously filmed herself on her phone. Thai Rath pulled no punches in their headline calling her a sadistic gran. La-Or has been charged with assault causing death and is now in police custody. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-06-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Backlash! 300 Jomtien traders furious at being turfed off the sands - but authority is adamant "Clear Off!" Picture: Siam Rath Siam Rath reported that 300 male and female traders descended on the Na Jomtien municipal offices yesterday furious that they were set to be banned from trading at Jomtien beach. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1263938-backlash-300-jomtien-traders-furious-at-being-turfed-off-the-sands -but-authority-is-adamant-clear-off/ -
Picture: Siam Rath Siam Rath reported that 300 male and female traders descended on the Na Jomtien municipal offices yesterday furious that they were set to be banned from trading at Jomtien beach. Yesterday ASEAN NOW reported a decision by five local agencies that meant the traders would have to move from Monday - or else. Yesterday the vendors who operate mobile stalls called for justice after the ban on using the beach, footpaths and road in Jomtien, part of Thailand's famed resort of Pattaya where 600 million baht has been spent on beautifying the Jomtien sands. Female trader Tharawee who sells mango and sticky rice said that right now traders were desperate to earn a living and condemned the lightning move saying many traders were in debt after investing in selling at the beach. Closing the beach to them would cause great hardship. She called on the local authority to reverse the decision saying that traders had only just started recovering from the nightmare that was the pandemic. Without the beach she feared that many would have nowhere to go and make a living. But municipality reps countered that they had received complaints about trash and traffic and crime related to battles over pitches on the beach. Other established traders in the area and residents had also continually filed complaints. Also tourists had complained about access. They said the law was clear and they all had to be removed to return the beach to its rightful owners - ordinary people who want to enjoy the nice surroundings. But they said they would look into finding an alternative place for them to set up and sell their wares. It was then made perfectly plain by a male rep on the council that they must clear of as of the end of tomorrow. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-06-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Celebrity faces trouble in latest "Thai drama" after filming herself eating a protected lizard Daily News Thai Caption: Monitor lizard eating show! Daily News Thai Caption: Monitor lizard eating show! Daily News reported that top Thai country singer or "look thung" Kratai Phannipha could be in deep trouble. She filmed herself eating a spicy dish known in Thai as "Phat Phet Laen" - it contains a kind of monitor lizard called a takuat in Thai, a protected species. A post on Twitter @RedSkullxxxsaid that the lizard is #40 on the protected species list. People who keep such animals face five years in jail and/or fines of half a million baht. It wasn't mentioned what you'd get for eating one, notes ASEAN NOW. Yet here was Kratai chomping down on the lizard and declaring that that her teacher husband Phaiboon's dish was "aroi" (yummy). Daily News said it was the latest Thai drama and caused a storm of controversy and comment online. Many people said the consumption of takuat was quite normal in the countryside - though posting about in on social media was daft. Many people said they didn't realise that "laen" and "takuat" were one and the same. While others suggested that Phaiboon should know better, what with being a teacher. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-06-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Big Joke flies in: Four cops arrested for taking million baht bribe to allow Chinese gang to film "live" sex shows at resorts Daily News Thai Caption: Four policemen arrested Daily News reported that charismatic cop Pol Lt-Gen Surachate Hakpan - known universally as Big Joke - flew into Chiang Rai in the north of Thailand yesterday where he announced the arrest of four officers in the Royal Thai Police. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1263928-big-joke-flies-in-four-cops-arrested-for-taking-million-baht-bribe-to-allow-chinese-gang-to-film-live-sex-shows-at-resorts/ -
Daily News Thai Caption: Four policemen arrested Daily News reported that charismatic cop Pol Lt-Gen Surachate Hakpan - known universally as Big Joke - flew into Chiang Rai in the north of Thailand yesterday where he announced the arrest of four officers in the Royal Thai Police. The officers took bribes to turn a blind eye to the operations of a Chinese led gang filming sex shows at two resorts in Muang district earlier this year. A ringleader of the rank of lieutenant colonel (that's a deputy station chief) aged 42, two police captains aged 48 and 50 and a sergeant aged 30 were busted for abuse of power in office, inciting others to pay bribes for their own benefit and performing their duties dishonestly. They were not named. They took a million baht in cash bribes over several occasions. Picture: Daily News Surachate told the press how tech police discovered that a Chinese gang were filming "live" sex shows featuring Thai, Chinese and Laotian performers in four rooms at a resort in Doi Khao Khwai, Muang Chiang Rai. This was going on between January and March. On 31st March the lieutenant colonel named as one of those arrested went to the address armed with a search warrant. They found recording equipment, phones, condoms and sex toys. But they promptly announced that they had in fact found nothing at all. No charges were made. Meanwhile behind the officers' backs the investigation was continuing and it was discovered that a fixer called Anusorn who arranged the locations for the sex shoots went to Central in Chiang Rai and took out 800,000 baht. This backhander was given to the bent police on April 1st and 4th when the seized equipment was returned to the gang. On 11th April the live sex sessions resumed. Anusorn returned to the bank and took out 180,000 baht and gave the police 100K. Picture: Daily News On the 20th April the gang moved to the Khao Chiang Rai Homestay Resort in Doi Hang. Anusorn returned to the bank once more withdrawing 180,000 and gave 100,000 to the corrupt police at a coffee shop. On May 26th tech police raided the resort and arrested a Chinese man called Zhao Fengshan, 47, though a man called UU Guotro who was behind the whole operation managed to get away. Two Thai women who arranged to get the performers in the shows were arrested and charged. Around a dozen Thai, Chinese and Laotian sex performers - one aged just 17 - were arrested and charged. Then the bent Chiang Rai officers were also arrested and charged. It appeared that the live sessions were being beamed to China in a show called "Joo Sow". ASEAN NOW notes that Surachate or Big Joke has had a colorful history in recent years. He was once the deputy of the tourist police then chief of immigration before a dramatic fall from grace in which he was sent to shuffle paper at the PM's office. Since then he has been rehabilitated and is turning up in cases where underage sex features. In this regard the age of one of the performers - 17 - is revealing. Some commentators suggesteed that Surachate's removal from immigration came after he stepped on more senior toes after criticising the 2 billion baht biometrics scheme. He was also involved in an incident in Suriwong, Bangkok, in which his Lexus was shot up while he was in a spa. Being involved in the announcement of the arrest of bent Thai police officers shows the degree to which Surachate has returned to the RTP fold, suggests ASEAN NOW. Albeit that those officers are of a considerably lower rank to him. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-06-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Thai prime minister Prayuth Chan-ocha had a strong message for Thai soldiers yesterday after a meeting at the Interior Ministry, that he also heads. Stay off marijuana. And also: Make sure you turn the lights out. Deputy spokesman at the ministry Col Jittanak Punnothok said that the PM had ordered the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Defence to come up with guidelines to control the use and consumption of cannabis and hemp, reported Thai Rath. He left the door open to medical use however but said that recreational use was a definite no-no. The guidelines should run in tandem with those being prepared by the Ministry of Public Health. He didn't want any stories in the media about soldiers getting high and doing things like driving or operating machinery on weed. The PM is also very concerned about the spiralling cost of energy and oil. So everyone in the forces is being told to save electricity and gas to the tune of 20% for the good of the nation. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-06-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
