Bilateral cooperation and proper response to the Russia-Ukraine conflict were among the topics discussed during a meeting between Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on Thursday (26 May). Gen Prayut flew to Japan to attend the 27th International Conference on the Future of Asia (Nikkei Forum) which was held from May 25 - 27, 2022. The IPEF was established by the United States and twelve other countries to strengthen regional ties and ensure a strong, resilient, and clean economy for the region. Regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Japanese Prime Minister stressed the need for the international community to unite their voice in opposing Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The Thai leader also spoke out on the issue, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic efforts in ending the war as soon as possible. The meeting between the two leaders is expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation on economic and security issues established following the Japanese Prime Minister’s official visit to Thailand earlier this month. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-05-28 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 16. Trying to find a good condo is getting tougher in Pattaya OPINION | by ASEAN NOW I am only going on personal experience, but trying to find a good value condo in the Pattaya area is getting tougher. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1260968-trying-to-find-a-good-condo-is-getting-tougher-in-pattaya/
  17. OPINION | by ASEAN NOW I am only going on personal experience, but trying to find a good value condo in the Pattaya area is getting tougher. Having been in the same condo I decided it was time to move and maybe enjoy a different area in Pattaya. Having experienced the decline in tourists due to the Covid pandemic of the past three years, I thought there must be a huge amount of choice. I now realise that Pattaya is again back in fashion and that is evident by the number of Thais who flock here every weekend and start taking their selfies all over the place. With international travellers also returning many landlords are at last seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. I have lost count of the number of large condos I have visited where they keep saying we are sold out and have almost no rentals to show you. It would seem the lure of higher daily returns when renting out a condo via Airbnb is also taking quite a few prime units off the agents lists too. Another frustrating issue is the habit of some realtors to still post condos for rent, when they were actually rented up to six months back. It may be a way of showing they have a lot of inventory, but it is very time consuming and annoying for the clients looking. Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe As prime areas like Cozy Beach and Pratamnak are getting expensive I thought I would venture East to check out Na Jomtien or even Bang Saray. Both are quieter areas but with fantastic beaches and lower rentals. However, it seems the 20 kms along from Pattaya to Sattahip is just one big construction site for a new expressway. Unlikely to be complete for another year, I certainly would not want to endure those traffic jams and dust for 12 months! My observations are concerning Pattaya so I cannot speak about the situation in Bangkok, Hua Hin or say Phuket. Let us know. So at the moment, I suppose to find my ideal 50-60m2 of space will just take a bit longer and unfortunately may cost me a bit more too. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-05-28 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 23. Daily News Thai Caption: Numbers revealed Daily News reported that people armed with joss-sticks and flowers and other "divining devices" were coming from far and wide to pay homage to a roadside kilometer marker. The apparently powerful marker in Khalameh sub-district of Surin in Thailand's north east has provided the answer to lottery wins on many occasions, it was claimed. There was a steady stream of the faithful arriving all day to pray for riches. One of them, Utthorn, 59, said he and his relatives had rented a pick-up to come and get lucky. Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe He said there were various methods to divine the numbers such as putting numbered ping pong balls in an earthenware jar and drawing them - his preferred method. He drew 805 for the three numbered one and 54 for the two. "But really," he explained earnestly, "it's all about how much merit you make". The next draw is Thursday June 1st next week. ASEAN NOW notes, somewhat skeptically, that with the amount of stories daily about omens for the lottery, we have just about covered every number by now. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-05-27 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 24. What Is The Future Of Pattaya’s Walking Street? By Editor Pattaya’s most infamous street is not scheduled for knockdown according to mayor-elect Poramet Ngampichet. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1260906-what-is-the-future-of-pattaya’s-walking-street/
  25. By Editor Pattaya’s most infamous street is not scheduled for knockdown according to mayor-elect Poramet Ngampichet. During a tour this week of the never-ceasing repavement and cable- burying areas, he said that Walking Street was an essential part of the resort’s tourist future. Plans to re-orientate Walking Street into a leisure paradise for families with theme parks, classy restaurants and new shopping arcades appear to be taking a back seat. Before and during the Covid pandemic, Pattaya authorities had suggested that the resort’s future might resemble Miami, Singapore or Abu Dhabi in which business centers lie apparently side-by-side with leisure pursuits. Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe There had also been suggestions that the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), might fund a wholesale “family” redevelopment of Walking Street to complement the neighboring Bali Hai port facilities which have benefitted from external funding. Various beach reclamation projects and transport improvements, including ring roads and motorways, are also EEC projects. However, there is a growing consensus that Pattaya must rely on its traditional tourist markets after more than two years as a ghost town. The war in Ukraine and the ongoing absence of the overseas Chinese market has doubled-down on this feeling that Pattaya needs to walk before taking up running. However, City Hall stresses that Pattaya has already progressed from its Sin City image.
