Picture: Daily News Somneuk Thepphotha, 37, the owner of Butcher Boy in Pak Kret Nonthaburi, a quality beef restaurant, went to Daily News after being ripped off by a customer. He said that three people - two women and a man - arrived on a motorcycle and after racking up a bill of 2,080 baht for dinner on Friday said they wanted to scan the payment. Picture: Daily News But one of the diners said she preferred not to pay at the table as she had an urgent need to use the toilet. She dashed off and emerged a short while later with "evidence" of payment on her phone that the server accepted. Picture: Daily News After the diners had left the server checked and the scan turned out to be fake. No money had been added to the account. Somneuk went to file a report with the Rattanathibet police and contacted the bank who confirmed no payment had been made. Picture: Daily News He said he was prepared to accept an apology from the diner if payment is made. If not he wants the matter prosecuted fully. These times without many customers were hard enough as it is he said as he obliged the media with some handy pointing to the now empty table and lavatory. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-06-13 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. PHOTO: รมว.ชัยวุฒิ ธนาคมานุสรณ์ By Tanakorn Panyadee Nation — The Thai Minister of Digital Economy and Society has warned all citizens who record a picture or video of an alleged crime to only send it to law enforcement to avoid violating the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). If a Good Samaritan recorded a person involved in a potential criminal situation, would this offend the PDPA? This was one of the questions that had been controversial on social media since the launch of the Personal Data Protection Act or PDPA on June 1st. However, the Minister of Digital Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn recently responded to this question: “Posting an inappropriate picture or video of another person online is an offense and could get you into trouble. But, as long as you only send the footage to law enforcement, that shoud be fine,” Chaiwut said. Disaster Dept Assures Tsunami Warning System Still Effective
webfact posted a topic in Thailand News
by Natthaphon Sangpolsit BANGKOK (NNT) - The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department (DDPM) has assured the public that its tsunami warning systems are still intact after its tsunami detection buoys had been found displaced from their original locations. The DDPM clarified the situation following reports that Thailand’s tsunami detection buoys in the Andaman Sea and the Indian Ocean lost contact with their uplink satellite. The department explained that Indian authorities had since recovered one of the buoys in the Indian Ocean after the department lost contact with it on October 22 of last year. Officials are also recovering a second buoy in the Andaman Sea that they had lost contact with on Thursday (9 June). The DDPM said both buoys will be replaced with newer ones, with installation to take place in November amid more favorable weather conditions. The department also assured that its tsunami warning systems remain operational and effective in the absence of the buoys because they focus on data analyzed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which compiles information from various nations. The DDPM is also strictly following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for tsunami warnings to ensure effective and immediate action when necessary. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-06-11 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
