  1. I want to transfer money from Europe to Thailand to buy a house in wifes name (yes, I'm aware, no need to warm me). I have 3 questions: 1. does the money have to be send from European bank account in my name? (e.g. my brothers European account sending me money via Wise.com) 2. can I use Wise.com for the transfer? (With Wise it might not arrive in foreign currency/be shown as an international transfer. This guy (link to discussion lower) was buying condo in his own name and it was required (but I'm buying it in my wifes name so not sure). 3. Wise used to have as a purpose of transfer something like "Funding my life on marriage visa in Thailand" and "Purchase of property in Thailand". But now it is missing? See screenshot. What should be used in these 2 scenarios?
  2. I'm thinking about flying back to Europe. And 14 days later to flying back to Thailand. Sometimes between right now and new year. When will be the tickets cheapest (month/seasson)? And how far in advance to book to get the best price?
  3. Past 3 weeks our house in Issan is infested with mosquitos. If you sit down in living room/bedroom within 15 second there are 10 - 20 mosquitos hovering around you. And you leaving with 10 itchy bites. Ridiculous! Is it like that around you too now? Or is it just something with our house?
  4. If you leave the dog in the car between midnight and 8 am with all windows half way down I don't see any problem. Problem with Booking etc is that no matter what they say (small dogs allowed, any dogs allowed) if you call, they always tell me 10 Kg max.
  5. My relatives are living in Korat next to airport and when I'm visiting them, there always army jets flying over my head. And on multiple occasions I was told, that they are currently training with Americans. And this dates back to 2014. So nothing new in Korat. Although I can't comment on the current scale.
  6. I'm heading to Pattaya for 2 days and I'm taking my (big) dog with me. Do you know about some place, where could we stay? I found websites offering pet friendly accommodation very unreliable. And never had any luck. My current plan is to just drive there, look for some a bungalows and ask them, if they let me stay. If no, offer them let the dog sleep in the car in front of bungalow. Any better ideas?
  7. I get this question every year and "staying with my wife" always works. Since I'm young I also every year get "how do you make money to stay here?". I'm always using "my dad owns big company in Europe". It's true, although I never saw single penny from that company. But it always stops all other questions, probably because of thai mentality "if one family member has money let's suck him dry///if I have money let's give it all to my family that blows it on nonsense". It's much simpler than going into my financial investments etc. ????
  8. In Thailand, can you ask for the lawyer and refuse to talk to the police. Or give any statement at all? How does this work here?
  9. Not galvanized. Just regular steel from local shop. They sell for example round tube, 6 metres for 120 Baht. Which I used for this. Or square tube for 220 Baht per 6 metres. Which I used here (+ plywood for bottoms + sheet metal for sides) Over the years I welded a ton of stuff. With prices 120 - 200 baht per 6 metres it's very cheap to make anything.
  10. These 1000 Baht stick welders suck. You can as well weld with your car battery, the result will look the same. ???? I bought MIG welder a few years back for my small projects https://www.lazada.co.th/products/polo-co2-p191-mig200-jasic-2-i233556476-s358211500.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.31.293c6971kO80UM&search=1 little bit more expensive but worth the money. It's POLO (cheap brand) but owned and made by JASIC (quality brand). So cheap price but quality product. You don't even need gas for welding if you use fluxcore wire.
  11. Dog meat goes for 300 Baht/kg in our village. Much more expensive than chicken (70 Baht/kg) or pork (200 Baht/kg).
  12. 2005 - 2014 were the peak years of the world, just give me 2013 again, don't even tell me lottery numbers or anything
  13. My Hilux Vigo battery is sometimes "lazy" for last 6 months. Or is it battery? Today I started (OK), drove 60 minutes straigh. And was unable to start it again (battery should be full right?). It barelly turned over once. So I got a guy to jump start me. And everything is OK again. Cars starts and everything. Is it even battery? Sometimes car sits for 2 days and is OK. Sometimes it sits for 2 days and it barelly starts. Sometimes I drove for 1 hour and it starts as new. Sometimes after 1 hour of driving it barelly starts. Or doesn't.
  14. How does ordering from Amazon works? Do I have to pay any extra tax? Or is it exactly the same as Lazada?
  15. I like to shop at Lazada. But even if the keyboard on the pictures seems to have english keys only, in reviews from customers is always taken photo of thai keyboard. Did you managed to go around this? I have already given up on having keyboard in my native european language. But clean english is bare minimum.
  16. I'm trying to buy new cartridge for my printer. On Lazada it costs 480 baht and it is good for printing 120 pages. Which means I'm going to pay 4 baht per page. (https://www.lazada.co.th/products/hp-67-black-original-ink-3ym56aa-i2126450482-s7135296048.html) How are the shops charging 1 Baht per page? Including paper, HW, electricity and making a profit? It doesn't make sense and I can't figure it out what am I'm doing wrong?
  17. Just checking in that past month price stabilized at 66 Baht/Kg. Past 8 years it was 41 Baht/Kg. Which means we went up by 61% in past half year after price was stable for almost a decade!!! And we are staying at this price!
  18. Last time I was shopping chicken cost 40 Baht/Kg and chicken carcass for my dog was 15 Baht/Kg. Yesterday I went to Tesco and they want 61 Baht/Kg for chicken and 25 Baht/Kg for carcass. ???? Is there some great chicken shortage or something?
  19. I might be interested in buying some land in small village in Issan. There is no extended family that could help me and take advantage of me while doing so (how is it usually done). Me/wife are here alone and aren't sure how to approach this. Looking at internet there are obviously no offers. I don't see any local companies around here that would specialize in this. I think majority of these deals goes, that people know somebody needs money and want to sell and they make a deal. Well, I/we don't usually have such information. Trying to go and ask around ended up in some hilarious offers. One lady for example offered 1 rai/1 000 000 Baht of rice field 8Km from the nearest road and no public access road (with the condition that she has to think about it first). I don't know how to get to some serious offers.
