  1. I think Thai signage is excellent. You want to see no English language or just non-existent signage, try Laos or China. Well done Thailand. Your road signs and signage in general are great.
  2. This is what he wanted to emulate, and didn't do a bad job. Even though he wasn't born at the time.
  3. Why did this news story immediately become a polemic between the pro-weed and anti-weed crowd? The story has nothing to do with weed! You guys are still at it on page 4!
  4. Bump To say this sub-forum has died a death is the understatement of the year. This website used to be full of informative and erudite comment. Now it seems to be little more than monger central. That's a shame. Can anyone advise good online forums to discuss Thai language. Cheers Briggsy
  5. It is definitely shown on Google Maps and is also clearly visible on Street View. Try กะเพรา ตีพุง
  6. There is so much wrong on every level here, absolutely every level, I do not know where to start. The only good thing as others have pointed out is that there were no fatalities which is miraculous.
  7. Quiet as ever, the manager rules this place with an iron fist.
  8. I get confused with the terminology. A "transwoman" is a kathoey, right? p.s. How is the last paragraph at all related to the initial story???????😀
  9. Is Rosie O'Grady's in Soi 7 still going? I last went there in 2018, maybe, and the food was quite good.
  10. 12.982867352442131, 100.92005755267017 Try these co-ordinates. I have been back since. Khanaa moo krorp 80 Baht. Also very good.
  11. Could this have been overseas Chinese police? They do operate in Pattaya.
  12. To whip a stranger with your belt would suggest a propensity for violence and lots of previous experience. I am sure this is absolutely a person who is familiar with violence.
  13. There appear to be no denial of entry reports yet. Similarly I have not read any reports of requests for additional or supporting documentation. They are likely to start issuing warnings first before denying entry, but who knows! However if you are seriously concerned, you could always pay for the safe entry service.
  14. @kwilco Trust me, you will not have a problem unless wishing to change very large amounts. If so, head to Super Rich in Bangkok.
  15. They tried playing hard ball with the neighbours in Rom Klao. Didn't work out very well. ASEAN has a non-interference policy. Everybody is watching China's position. Thailand won't be shooting down any Myanmar government fighter aircraft soon.
  16. This thread is funny.
  17. Whole-life driving licences were no longer issued after 2003.
  18. What does this mean? Are you skinny?
  19. You would only need to dish out some Singaporean-style corporal punishment and this type of behaviour would virtually disappear overnight.
  20. You do not flaunt your wealth here but it is very important (chiefly for Thais) to signal their social status. The two can easily be confused as one implies the other but not necessarily. E.g. the choice of an E-class Mercedes Benz may appear to be a show of wealth but is more likely to be an indicator of status. The graduation picture and degree from a government university displayed in a prominent position is all about status. Status has a large bearing on how you are treated (again chiefly for Thais). Wealth with zero status may potentially attract the wrong sort of friends.
  21. Should answers be tailored to your 20,000 Baht per month budget? @georgegeorgia
  22. Check the phone history of the driver around the time of the crash.
  23. So, I have a new motorbike and I decided I would get some extra insurance along with the พ.ร.บ. My chief aim was theft cover. Anything else was a bonus. I found a policy with Viriyah Insurance. In addition to the theft cover was another line of cover I read this as insurance cover covering damage from an accident which results in damage to the motorcycle equivalent to at least 60% of the covered amount. (The covered amount is clearly stated on the policy). However this seems rather generous. What if the accident is my fault? And the bike is at least 60% written off. Surely they won't pay for that. But the insurance cover seems to suggest I am covered. Any experts?
