  1. 'The suspected traffickers likely had influential backing as Paween Pongsirin, a senior investigator in the case, was forced to seek asylum in Australia during the investigation in late 2015.'

that's a new spin by the military propaganda machine.

Paween was based in Bangkok and receiving death threats. During investigation he was ordered to move to the south, he refused and escaped to Australia. Prayuth called him a traitor and ordered to come back to face charges.

In today's Bangkok Post article he is quoted by his friend:

"While digging into the case he found evidence indicating several high-ranking officials took bribes from human trafficking rings," the friend said.

  2. the main investigating officer was from the army and based in Bangkok. He received many death threats.

Despite of it he was ordered to transfer to the south. Fearing for his live he resigned from the army and run away to australia, where he asked for a political refugee status and was granted one. General Prayuth called him a traitor and ordered to return to face treason charges. Most likely he knows more than what was told publicly.

Poor commander, who can only estimate soldiers under his rule with 20% margin.

I passed through security on the way out today. They did a good job except that I objected to the security guard near the x-ray machine patting my body down. Is he/her allowed to touch me physically as in pat my stomach or other parts of my body with their hands. They have some magic hand held wand which I would of though sufficient to check my body without running their grubby hands over me and touching me. Was I right to object?

no, you were not right to object,  as no matal objects, like plastic knife or gun, can't be detected by a wand. That's why they have introduced also full body scanners. Also they they have a room to strip you down.

  4. probably they meant 86 murders and 160 injured from violence and not accidents, natural causes, suisides, alkohol poisoning, drug overdose etc

    Nope.

    Read the OP,

"Of the 83 deaths, 34 were from road accidents, nine from swimming and boating accidents, six from congenital disease, four from suicides and 30 from other causes."

sorry, but I don't care for reading idiotic articles. However, I have read the whole discussion under

  5. probably they meant 83 murders and 166 injured from violence and not accidents, natural causes, suisides, alkohol poisoning, drug overdose etc.

this statistic shows, that attack become more vicious, resulting in deaths and not just injuries.

for those deaths I do blame the military junta, which caused raise in nationalism, xenophobia, economic misery for the poorest making them desperate. People feel mistreated, helpless, stressed and react with violence.

  6. ministry of interior means police and vioient methods. Their will push ideology and obstruct farmer's creativity.

the world lives now in an era of a global capitalism, going back to feudal economy is not a development.

on the other hand ministry of agriculture or even ministry of economy suppose to know what and how agriulture should be run.

only in a very backward countries ministry of interior and ministry of defence run all public affairs. But that's why those countries are poor and oppressive

  7. "He was finally tracked down and found to be running a restaurant in Muang district as an alleged front for his syndicate."

as he was based in thailand and because his victims were working/slaving in thai fishing industry, he should be first sentensed in thailand and after that handed out to myanmar.

but the thai authorities try to hide this proceder, as not to smear it's already poor international reputation, so the easiest option is an extradition.
