  1. Here's the letter I referred to:

    10368803_10152483807991154_1895848693359

That letter might be a hoax.

Don't know for sure, but I doubt it is. It's also consistent with remarks made by the UK Ambassador on Twitter.

I worked for the embassy loosely. They don't issue answers like that to random letter posted in.

the times are changing and that random letter might be an important one to reply to. Surely, the embassy do reply to some random letters, that's their job to represent their country and to defend citisens faced with a threat made by illegal and oppressive government. Probably they had already enough of thai posturing and the case which simply can be dealt by the british law.

it's not a statement posted on the embassy website, but by now they would denounce it as a hox

  2. "Thotsaphon Kaewthima, a fellow STR leader, said the police did not seem to have moved forward in the probe into Sutin's death. He added that an arrest warrant had been issued against an STR member, but said it was impossible that this person killed Sutin as they were both in the same vehicle at the time of the shooting."

if that's happen it's called "insider's job" or "infighting". There is a strong suspicion, that those some 25 who died during bangkok shutdown were killed in a similar manner. Just for the sake of power hungry elits to depose a democratically elected government. Those are called "collateral damage" in military terms.

some call it a "small price" to rule over 65mln people with gdp of 360bln and feudaly rooted corruption and it's said to pay back to suthep's paymasters within months.

as to the killed guy - he was a leader of violent wing of a thai fascist movement and was shot dead during a violent blockade of polling stations, which lead to cancellation of a general election

  3. The title should be "determind". Misspelling.

As to the long term problems of labour and human rights abuse, army should be well aware of them, because at the most powerful player in thai politics, they were causing them by undermining political process by staging systezmatically military coups, deposing elected governments and dissolving the parliament. I am not sure, how they can help all the problems

  4. If found guilty for disrespect, I hope she go to jail to the limit of the punishment. 5 years for every disrespect. That will be good for her. Thailand do not have such disrespectful people. We all love the king more than our parents. Don't believe me, just ask anything Thai you know.

Hello Suriya, my name is Martin and I am fairly new to Thailand (meaning I do not know Thailand very well)

Can you explain to me why you love the King?

And can you also explain to me why you love the King more than your parents?

    Best regards

    Martin

martin, please don't be shocked, but that's what children learn here from the age of one. TIT - this is thailand

  5. I need teacher of basic paramotoring around bangkok or elswhere in the country.

At some stage i would need equipment, possibly second hand, as i will be flying only recreationally.

Also I would need a comprehensive health/life insurance, so far no succes of finding one.

  6. I know it's not the West, but if it was a Western democracy and it was apparent the government were acting like criminals...exactly what would the people do? Sit back and let the government rape the treasury or take whatever action necessary?

I'd say that normally they'd vote them out in General Election. The UK Labour Government spent Billions on wasted projects, whilst the severity of corruption wasn't as near as Thailand, they squandered Billions in failed Defence contracts, among st other things.

The Thai's had the opportunity to vote the PTP out but the opposition refused to participate on the 2nd Feb 2014, and the mass blockading of poling stations by the anti Government protesters also made sure that the votes that were cast would be declared null and void, so no matter what negative spin you try and put on it, the incumbent caretaker Government were offering a constitutional way in which they could have been voted out.

The issue was the fear they still had enough votes to retain power and the graft and corruption continued. Stevie Wonder back in February could see a Coup being the only choice left to make, as there was never ever going to be a compromise between the ant government protesters and the Shiniwatra Regime. The Rest is now history, which is like a wash cycle in Thai Politics.

These Coups are also carried out by a small section of the officer Corp within the RTA, who are the power base within the RTA.

So far the General's decisions, for the most have been very populist choices, and are indeed done with the peoples interests at heart, but the RTA above all need to be as transparent as any other National Business, NO serving Officer should be involved in being paid directors of civilian entities, it's a conflict of interests, there's no need for them to be on the board of business's whilst still serving their country. With these positions on various boards, are often "perks of the job". They should not be involved in anything that detracts from their Military role and positions. The Army needs to be accountable to the very people that they want to exercise control over, practice what they preach.

Their Loyalty is to the King, Country and the people, not other vested business interests, they should be doing that on retirement.

The Thai military mindset would never accept your lucid analysis. That would be un-Thai.

Maybe someone in this forum can inform us of other countries where the Military owns Banks and Media outlets: radio, TV and newspapers. rolleyes.gif

Yes, it's north korea. Mentioned by the article we are discussing
  7. So the parliamentary democracy wasn't good for thailand, lets find another, a better one. Let's see, here we have military democracy, the next is police democracy, after that self appointed government democracy. We can have many sort of democracies, non of them requiring any form of election, just purely based on love and compassion. That's how good thai rulers are

  8. For thai diplomacy it's not more than an empty gesture. They were thinking about the voting for years, that's how long it takes for international law to be introduced, and now, within days, they flip their decision 180 degree.

It's dishonest, misleading and pure PR junta trick, to take heat of guardian slavery report and an alleged killing of 9 cambodian workers in chonburi by the thai army just within the last few days.

They will use every possible excuse not to comply with this law, as fishing industry will suffer badly without slaved workers. There are estimates of hundreds workers being killed and thrown in to the sea, every year.

  9. "Self confessed Thai housewife" - Im quite proud of that label - so you have a problem with women in general - maybe once your MOTHER was a housewife - shame she didn't teach you better manners!!- pay your bar bill then go back to your own country - Thailand doesn't need anymore like Y~OU!!

This is a forum for foreigners living in thailand and associated. You claim to be thai, yet you come here with your extreme political propaganda which is simple trolling, and try to tell forum users, who disagree with you, to shut up, pack up and leave.

On top of it, you are being personal, trying to involve mothers and the way people behave. That is being rude.

I really think, that you should be banned from here, not the other members, who you treaten with banning from tv.

The lady got what she deserved, If i gave my honest and open view about things on here, i would be banned for life. One has to keep one,s gob shut if one is in public. She was a stupid little girly

Looking back at your last 20 posts i think your very lucky to be still posting on here. if it was Thaksins country you wouldn't be!!

Another trolling post from a self-confessed thai housewife.

Looking at your 650 posts it's you, who should be banned, for putting name of ts in every post you make. Never mind waisting your own time, but you are waisting time of many who might still read your posts

  12. No mention of floods, the biggest disasters that happen in thailand all too often.

But mentioning them publicly is now stricly no no, as there are no anymore water management works being carried on for sometimes, possibly a long time. Bangkok will be saved again, but only the eastern one, with airports, metro, skytrain. The western will be flooded again. Don't be not surprised to wake up in october with a hand in a chamber pot full of water
