  1. OK I guess That I do ribs the easy way. I par-boil them for just about an hour .... but not so long that the meat falls off the bone.

I then slather each rack of ribs with my own homemade BBQ sauce-

    Ingredients

    l 2 cups ketchup

    l 2 cups tomato sauce

    l 1 1/4 cups brown sugar

    l 1 1/4 cups red wine vinegar

    l 1/2 cup unsulfured molasses

    l 4 teaspoons hickory-flavored liquid smoke

    l 2 tablespoons butter

    l 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

    l 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

    l 1/4 teaspoon chili powder

    l 1 teaspoon paprika

l 1/2 teaspoon celery seed... I don't have any of this so omit

    l 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

l 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper I double this PLUS add some Thai chili ( 1 or 2 ts)

    l 1 teaspoon salt

l 1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper

Then I cook slowly on my BBQ grill

    Happy grilling

  2. I need to install a cat door for one of my garages ( the 5 cats home ) I currently have a small cat sized cut out covered by a cloth flap which works well BUT it also allows unwanted visitors in . I was thinking maybe some one here has had experience with RF-ID tags (Radio-frequency identification) in cat collars .

  3. we shipped everything we owned from our home in California. I had a shipping company that specializes shipping to Thailand. They had me make a complete list of all things shipped. My advice is to take everything you can. The wife's Shop Smith, drill press and tools, well you get the idea. Don't worry too much about if it is new or not. Once everything was loaded into the container the shipping company sent it to Thailand with NO problems . The container was unopened when it arrived here at my home, with my lock still on it and the seals unbroken. The important this is to use a reliable shipping company and one that has the trust of Thai customs. I wanted to include my golf cart but my shipping company talked me out of it.My final advise after you have all your stuff load .....go shopping and get more stuff Please see my long list of stuff I sent. Do remember that Thailand is a 220 volt country and transformers will work but I can tell you that I have a lot of items that I had accidentally plugged in and is now a "boat anchor.

    My list..............................

  4. Somewhere around 1963/64 I had a Tohatsu Runpet 50 cc CA-2. I was very young and this was my second bike (my first was a Whizzer Ambassador 50cc mounted on my Schwinn bicycle).

I met a Motorcycle mechanic that helped me “hop” the engine up. The first thing he did was cut the skirt of the piston way back. Then ran the engine with only 2 rings. We removed the head gasket and lapped the head to the block thus raising the compression ratio. We then installed a Honda 125 carburetor. Then I ran the thing using methanol and castor oil. The R.P.M. would get VERY high ( 12,00?)

I could get very high speed out of it like about 75 / 80 M.P.H. until the lower end finally gave out.

Thanks for helping remember some of the past,

  5. I have been a user of X10 here at my home in Thailand for the last 10 years. I too first tried to get 220volt x10 products but I found that they were VERY expensive. What I do is bring all my x10 needs from the U.S.A.. You can use small transformers. There is one catch though; the X10 signal will not pass thru a transformer unless you add a capacitor to bridge from one side to the other ( although I have found some transformers DO pass the signal ).

It has been a VERY long time since I have done this. If you need to know how to do this I will go into all my old archives and dig out the info.

I have the Eagal Eye MS 14a motion detector mounted out by my front gate and have X10 RF transceiver inside and also have a Remote Chime Model SC 546a

I also use the X10 appliance module and The Lamp module to control my lamps and fans I also have my draperies connected to Model 80 Universal motor drapery and vertical blind with X10 ADD-A – motors

I control everything with Model HR 12a Remote.

My advice is to buy everything online in the U.S. and have a friend send it to you so you don’t pay for customs. If you spend some time online you can find this stuff really cheap.

Just as a point of interest I have had all my 220v X10 stuff go belly up while the good old 120v keeps going.

  7. My favorite was the time I held the door for a man that was behind me ... he then looked at me in contempt as if my job was the official door holder. The man then was followed by a little old frail woman who he simply let the door slam on her as she was half in and half out. Very hard to be understanding with these kind of people.

  8. In 1997 I was saving money here in Thailand for building my retirement home. I had my money in Bank of Bangkok. One day the exchange was 25 baht to one dollar Then after the collapse my U.S. dollar was about 50 to one . In just a few day I had LOST half of my money on deposit here.

I also have one other thought about strength of the baht, What happens if there is a major change here ???

  9. Many people take baby aspirin to help prevent a stroke it acts as a blood thinner makes the blood less likely to clot.

There is stronger medicines for this but they need a constant check on at least once a month. Mine is Wharfin Every month my doctor checks it and some times has to adjust it.

I'm pleased to see you have monthly checks by your doctor regarding your Warfarin, but it's not a drug to be taken lightly.

I hope anyone considering it does not decide to self medicate.

    http://www.patient.c...ne/Warfarin.htm

I take a dose of Warfarin every day and get blood test every 2 month including close monitoring by my doctor. knock Knock never have had a stroke but suffer from arrhythmia, high blood pressure and diabetes. 12 years ago upon moving to Thailand my U.S.A. doctor advise that I get a good doctor here and see him regularly.... I should also say I have been forbidden to take anything like aspirin because of the Warfarin.
  10. ..... You might want to add some pork fat to get the percentage right.

    .....................

I am trying to avoid grinding or making my own, but do you know the ratios of beef and pork fat you used?

It is my understanding that what you want is a 20% fat content

  11. Daytime driving lights… I know that they seem to be kind of “trendy as of now.

I think that it would be safer to have them

I see some of the newer Mercedes Benz’s have them

    I have questions….

Would it be legal to mount them on my pickup truck ?

Do they switch off at night?

If they were on at night would they “blind oncoming traffic.

    Anyone have some thoughts ???

  12. I am not all that smart but as I understand. If a farang outlives his Thai wife he has one year to sell his home. Since you have a son you should have a will from your wife leaving all her land and possessions to him, that way you could remain in the home and Thailand.

As we all know farangs can't own land. The land being passed down to the Thai son will solve the problem.
