  1. I am very confused about the new alleged requirement to submit proof of 2 months of pension deposits into my Thai bank account. Each months minimum deposit is to be 65,000 Baht.

I normally have SOME my pension wired into my Thai account every 2 months just to reduce the charges of wire transfer fees. I NEVER wire ALL of my pension into my account here, just what I need to live on .

Each year for the last 10 years I have provided a letter from my American Embassy verifying the amount of my pension.

Am I to understand that NOW I will STILL need to provide the document from my Embassy that the Thai Immigration does not believe ( that cost $50.00) to be true and accurate?

If the Thai Immigration disbelieves the document why do they still insist that I provide it?

I do not want to transfer all of my pension and saving into this country only JUST enough to satisfy their 65,000 Baht per month requirement.

I guess that now my only question is ... Can I just have the required 2 month total of 130,000 sent in a single transfer?

  2. Hello Roy. I wanted to do exactly the same thing about 10 years ago when I too shipped a container to my home here in Sa Kaeo. I used a Thai shipping agent and was advised to NOT include the golf cart. At one point I was very tempted to attach a reel lawnmower to my cart and insist it was a "riding mower" . I didn't do that but I should have , in retrospect. My container was shipped direct to my front door and was never opened and my lock and seals were still in place.

  3. WIN 7 to XP NETWORKING help!

I am trying to access my "D" drive on my networked Windows 7 Pro computer

FROM my networked Windows XP Professional computer both are on Home group.

I can access my XP computer from window 7 computers but I cannot access window 7 from Xp

Both computers have password turned off.

My XP computer denies access as they say I do not have the needed "administration permissions"

However I have checked all the boxes for share and PERMISSIONS.

I would be very appreciative  if anyone can point me in the right direction

  4. I had a California D.L. that was to expire a week after I landed in Los Angeles ( Avis would not accept my Cal licence). I called AVIS and asked them if they would accept my 5 year Thai D.L. Their answer was "no problem IF I also had an International D.L." I then drove into Bangkok to the Land and Transport dept. paid 500 baht and gave a picture and I was good to go. Landed in Los Angeles went to the Avis counter picked up my waiting rental with no problems at all. Hope this helps

  5. When I first came here I too was asked for "loans" by relatives or people from my village. My answer was NO !

If they want a loan go to the gold shops in town, they loan money.

It is against Thai law for me to loan money, I have no work permit to do that.

  6. Last year I rented a car from Avis in Los Angeles using my 5 year Thai drivers licence + my Internatioal Drivers license that I got at the Dept of Land and Transport in Bangkok (500 baht). I had no problems at all. My California drivers license was due to expire only 5 days into my visit there and the rental company would not rent to me without a license, but would accept my Thai D.L.

  7. Several years ago I used IP STAR I had TOT come and install it. I can't remember just how much it cost but it was expencive, like around 3000 baht a month for 1 meg as I remember though it needed to have some kind of a land line as the dish was used for download and the land line was for upload.

why don't you go over to TOT office and ask them. IP STAR IMHO is to be used only if there is no otherway.

    Good luck.

  8. post-32989-0-61780800-1290127748_thumb.jHello Richard: I live in Sa Kaeo I built my home here back in 1997. My Thai wife and I moved here from Calafornia.

We live 23 km East from Sa Kaeo just off of Hwy 33 (post-32989-0-36513000-1290127640_thumb.jthe road to Bkk)

write me or PM me for a meet

  9. you could reinstall your "old" genuine Microsoft Windows XP BUT once you go to their website they will check to see if you have a genuine copy. It is my understanding that they will be able to see that you now have a new computer (new motherboard)and will advise you to buy a new copy. It is quite common when techs fix a computer that they install some bogus copy of XP and throw in all kinds of "free" software.

As I see it you have 2 choices, do nothing BUT don't get the updates. OR spring for a new Microsoft Windows XP

Me I would use a REAL Windows XP or Win 7

  10. I have seen a motorhome (RV) near my home here in Sa Kaeo.As this was an unusual sighting I did some research and found a company in Bangkok that was (or is) making this. For the life of me I now can't find the company again. Someone else may have better search skills than I.

  11. I bought mine from a dealer there at Chatuchak Market. As you walk in the main entrance it is located in the next row of shops and off to the right. Sorry I don't have the space number. you will find the shop located on the inside of the row NOT facing the outside. The shades I bought were large but there was a large selection of many other sizes. As I remember though, they were mostly white in color. Hope this helps ,,, yes they really are there

  12. I brought everything in my house and garage in a 20 foot container and it was delivered right to my front door without ever being opened. I did use a shipping agent. The only thing I did not load into the container was my golf cart as my shipping agent advised me against it. AND yes I brought my all stainless gas BBQ. This can only be done once by a Thai citizen.post-32989-016787800 1277602250_thumb.jp
