  1. I looked for years here in Thailand for a hedge trimmer without success. I finally brought a battery powered trimmer from Sears, I was sure that I could not carry a gas powered trimmer on an airplane because of possible gasoline fumes.

This Trimmer works OK but is only really good for light touchups.

One day while driving to a Tesco or Big C in Chonburi right next store I saw a hardware store.

I don’t remember the name but I have their catalog there are 2 phone no.

    (038) 783-064-8 and (038) 783064-8

At this store I found and bought the Talon AT3400 50cc Gas powered hedge trimmer.

    I paid (2 years ago) 4500 baht

I can highly recommend this trimmer as it starts on the very first try EVERY time and does a great job

You can also check this website for pictures and more information

  2. I alway, when checking in ... and while the bell man is still in the room, invintory the fridge. If anything that is listed on the invintory list is not there I call them on it. I find that this scam happens not all too often BUT when it is tried I call them on it .

I HAVE never paid for "missing" items

  3. Right click the file you want to share/ select " sharing and security"/ on the tab that says SHARING check the box that says " share this folder on the network " check box that says " allow network users to change my files- click APPLY BAM your done

  4. I have the Acer Aspire One and really like it I am very happy that I chose this one.

I did have some bad luck as somehow my grand daughter was using it on the floor. with out thinking she accedently walked on the screen.

After that it would start up just fine BUT you couldn't see anything. The screen was DEAD

A happy ending-- I took the computer to Acer Service in Rangsit located there in the Zeer building. They replaced the screen for me WHILE I WAITED in about 30 minutes. They charged me right around 2500 baht and I could not be happier

The service was way way better than I expected. VERY HAPPY I BOUGHT ACER

  5. One time

I was at some forgettable retailer and when I attempted to use my Amex card I was informed that to use it I would have to pay an additional 4% or whatever it was. I really needed what I was trying to purchase so I made a counter offer of 2% take it or leave it, they took it. I won't say I won but I did lose less.

  6. Well done and I wish you the very best. You must remember that you are only one beer away from starting all over again. It is like my sponsor used to tell me "if you don't want to drink don't go to bars" This is one of the very hardest things you will ever do BUT everyday sober is one more day towards sobrity. Just one small beer or drink is NOT OK.

As we say ONE DAY at a TIME Or as someone said above even sometimes one hour at a time

For now try to get your first 30 days :)

  7. I just got back form a driving trip to Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The Malay expressway uses what they call "TOUCH and GO" cards That can be bought at a 7-11 or where ever and topped up just as you would your cell phone. The system works very well. You stop and " Touch and GO" I did not see it but I know that they have a transponder or whatever you can use instead of the card and then not even have to stop. This would solve many problems here.

  8. It has been a lot of years but in my last life I had a ketch that I sailed around the So. Pacific Back then as I remember we first put a heavy coat of paint and the simply scattered sand over the paint. Once dry we hosed or brushed off the loose top sand and there ya go Non- slip... happy sailing :)

  9. Funny how different people have different experiences with certain brands -- Toshiba is my bogey brand. LG has always been pretty good to me and my current LG TV has been going for years with no problems.

I'm not opposed to Panasonic, but the prices for many of the models I've looked at seem quite high versus the competition, although not as high as Samsung, which seems really overpriced in Thailand. Do you have UBC hooked up to your Panny, ignis? If so how do you find it looks? I hear some models/brands are really bad for standard def and others play it pretty good.

How about you jc, does your LG look alright with UBC?

Well I must first say that I am very spoiled as most what I watch is Bluray 720p that is still up around 7 or 8 g.b. in content for movies

As for UBC well it is watchable but it is just about the only choice you have here in Thailand. I also have a big dish with move and a Dream box connected to the internet :)

  10. post-32989-1250802256_thumb.png I too have been looking for a fogger here in Thailand. I have seen Government workers on occasion fogging wide areas of the market places. One needs to also be verycareful to avoid the stampead of escaping rats , mice and bugs.

I in my last life before retiring worked in Hollywood at 20th Century Fox. The movie industry also uses this very same kind of RAM JET gun to produce fog and smoke for films.

I will look for the one you bought and give it a try

  11. I have a 50 inch 720p LG Plasma with it's own built in hard drive and I am I am very happy with it. I have the LG connected to a dedicated home theater computer that has 4T.B of hard drive and networked to another 3 T.B. via a HDMI cable and the sound is sent to my Sony DTS system If I had to do it all again I would buy the LG 60 inch or a 65 inch if I could find one and with 1080P . Now that I am thinking about itmaybe it is time to let the good wife have the 50 for downstairs to watch her Thai soaps and game shows. :)

  12. In my village people quite often drop off unwanted cats and dog at the Wat knowing that the Monks will take care and give food. I take food to our Wat every afternoon for the last several years. perhaps you can speak with one of the Monks there where you live. You are a very good person to have taken the kitten to the Vet for treatment. I wish you good luck and for the kitten

  13. My ASEAN Free GPS Map Project

My wife and I are driving down to Kuala Lumpur next week and I needed a GPS map for my Garmin. I use a Nuvi 710 BUT it will work with any Garmin My ESRI Thai map stops at the border. I didn’t want to spend the $110.00 U.S. for the map from Garmin.

There is a very good alternative… THIS IS NOT A COPY

  14. I will try to answer some of your questions.

    Shipping-

I used a Thai company called Rama Shipping. They are located in North Hollywood on I think it was Sherman Way over very near the Burbank airport. Rama was a VERY good choice as they are located in L.A. and Thailand. They have a very good reputation with the Thai customs people. My container was NEVER opened by the customs people. I did supply a complete list of everything that I loaded into the container. , the smartest thing I ever did was to spend the money for shipping. Many of the things that you have in your home simply can’t be found here.

The prices 7 years ago were

    $2300 for 20ft. & $3300 for 40 ft.

THE CHARGES FOR ALL OF THE PAPER WORK.

    FREIGHT FORWARDING AND CUSTOMS

    $1000 door to door 20 ft. & $1500 for 40 ft.

WHAT ARE THE CHARGES FOR TRUCKING BOTH HERE AND THAILAND?

I truck it to RAMA & they truck it to home which is included

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE & WHAT SHIPPING CO.?

4 weeks with APL or Mazarc

Insurance- WHAT KINDS OF INSURANCE ARE THERE

    TOTAL LOSS, MISSING, BREAKAGE, THEFT

    Cost 2%

    I didn’t get the insurance

DOES THE CONTAINER HAVE TO BE EMPTIED AT BKK BEFORE SENT TO MY HOME?

    NO

DO THEY SPRAY INSIDE THE CONTAINER?

    NO

I ordered a refrigerator (Whirlpool?) in the U.S. made for 220 volts and high humidity.

I just priced a side by side (2 door) refrigerator here in Bangkok with an ice maker, and indoor water dispenser the cost was 150,000 baht. (top of the line)

If you want a gas barbeque you should get it in the states.

If I had it to do all over again I would have got the 40ft container. They did manage to pack everything I own into the 20ft but just barely. Someone once told me to order the 40ft. container and load all of my belongings in and then go shopping to completely fill the remaining space. I would have also loaded cases of hard to find food can goods.

if there are any questions that I can answer for you please don’t be afraid to ask me.

Just as a guide line for you I have added MY shipping inventory to the bottom of this email. This is the list I gave to Rama Shipping.

    Jim

  15. post-32989-1239776034_thumb.jpgpost-32989-1239775999_thumb.jpgI have installed Rain bird about 3 or 4 years ago and have had no problems at all . They seem to be just about " bulletproof" I use 1- 4 station controler and a 6 station controler I have 3 sprinklers conected to each station. I also had to install a 800 liter water tank as my village water system cannot provide the needed volume quickly enough.

  16. My cable modem came "free" along with the monthly service. Why would you want to buy one ? Will TOT reduce your monthly charge because you own the equipment?
