You guys are completely mad if you think Thailand has a snowballs chance in hell to have any hope whatsoever to get this highly highly complex tax worked out with expats whos financial situation is very individualized and who all come from different countries and speak different languages....And whos countries all have different DTAs.... Its a bloody joke I tell you.....No way, no how, is it going to happen.. And it took them 6 years to get the online 90 day reports to work...lol.......How hard could that have been?

I have never in my life seen any government or business for that matter that backtracks, flip flops, changes policy at the drop of a hat , with healthy doses of it was all a big misunderstanding....Like Thailand. What the government is likely or unlikely to do is a crapshoot that changes day to day.....So the LTR is in no way a safe haven AT ALL....

There are 195 countries on Earth...I bet there are expats in Thailand from 100 of them... I will say there is no way the disorganize, corrupt, flip flopping mess that is the Thai government could ever in a million years track and keep up with the personal finances of the expats from all these countries.. Folks its just not going to happen EVER...... Especially when the mega rich leaders of the country avoid taxes like the plague...

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
redwood1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Even after living here for years the vastness of the corruption still surprises me (even though it should not)... I think most expats have accepted things as they are...But I also think most expats have draw the line when it comes to the broken system meddling, and flip flopping around with their own personal financial affairs... -

What ever happens I bet Thaksin and the rest of the multi billionaire Thais dont pay so much as a single baht of their vast wealth to any new tax schemes that are being cooked up.. -
Unfortunately ANYTHING on the face of this earth that has a strong effect on people, there will always be some people that thing is not good for..... The vast vast majority of people who ever took psychedelics made it through the experience ok... Take weed.... It makes me forgetful paranoid and stupid....I cant smoke weed, not any....Not at all ever...But I have had no problems with mushrooms in the past or alcohol, none what so ever... Maybe another person absolutely can not touch alcohol but they are ok with weed and mushrooms ect... Point being every one is different and should decide whats best for them self... A no I dont think a drug like meth thats bad for everyone should be legal....

Well 6 years is exactly how long it took Thai immigration to get the online 90 day reporting to work more often than not.........Yep 6 years.......I bet a few good programmers from Apple or Microsoft could have had it up and running in a week.

Well I guess this would fit in nicely with trying to turn Thailand into Singapore 2.0.....

A perfect example of a farang who is desperate to pay taxes and will not take no for a answer......Maybe camp out on the tax office door step or take them to court to force them to let you pay taxes......Strange days indeed....
