zzzzz replied to JammG's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
the day ur officially divorced ur extension is null and void> you can easily switch passports if you fly, cant crossing overland you can even return on a vis exempt entry , even easier if you already have a bank account PS: in Phnom Penh if you dont want hassle with the embassy i recommend Cina travel on street 130 near riverside, cost $60 vs $40 and still takes 3-5 working days thou -

Thailand’s Revenue Department has no intention of imposing a departure tax on Thai nationals and permanent foreign residents travelling out of Thailand, as has been widely misunderstood. Revenue Department Deputy Director-General Winit Wisetsuwannaphum said in a statement, issued yesterday (Sunday), that they are merely gathering public opinion about the proposed departure tax of 1,000 baht for air travel and 500 baht for land and sea travel, as part of a legal process, in line with constitutional requirements, to assess the impacts of the proposal. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/no-plan-to-impose-departure-tax-on-outbound-thais-revenue-department/

According to the questionnaire, Thai citizens and foreign permanent residents would be required to pay a departure tax of 1,000 baht for air travel and 500 baht for land and sea travel. This aims to generate extra revenue for the government and prevent Thai people from spending excessively overseas, according to the poll. It also aims to reduce the country’s trade deficit. So which is it?? all OR only the above

if you read the article it applied to a farang working and living with his thai wife ( for reason why he has a 1 year extension) NOT for those on retirement extensions. friend of mine recently applied for his extension based on marriage> He had to provide 3 photos, 2 weeks ago of inside the house an outside. Week later they called him and told him they would be at his house in 10 minutes< he was 30 minutes away so they arranged a video call later in the day so that part is nothing new< Copy of the land title is.
