When re-entering Thailand with your new Passport, you will also need to show your corner-clipped (to invalidate it) old Passport that contains the Re-Entry Permit to protect your 1-year extension of stay.  Thai border-immigration will based on the data in the old Passport then stamp your new Passport with a Permission to stay till the date of your Re-Entry Permit protected Permission to stay (June/July 2024).

You would then need to go to the local Imm Office that provided you with your 1-year Permission to stay to do the 'change of passport' which consist of transferring the info from the relevant stamps in that old passport to your new passport.  No need to do this immediately on your return, as you can do this at any time convenient for you, but latest when applying for a new 1-year Permission to stay when your current one expires June/July.

Note: 90 days after re-entering Thailand your 90-day report will be due, and since you will have a new Passport you won't be able to do the 90-day report on-line (as the Passport number will not match anymore), and you will have to do it in person at your local Imm Office.  And while doing that you can of course at same time do the 'change of passport' and have the relevant stamps transferred.  You should also keep your old - invalidated - passport, as it will be needed when applying in June/July for your next 1-year extension of stay.

    100% correct>>
extensions./valid visas, ( like china/india 10 year ones)  in cancelled passports are still valid
i just got a new passport last week ( US passports dont have those stamps as the Australian one NOR do they give you a letter anymore) yet my extension expires end of March
I am doing my 90 day report by mail ( due jan 5th, only need mail in relevant copies) and than will transfer stamp and get new extension at same time!

I got an answer from Benjamin Hart on the cost of processing my Passport renewal. He says the fee is 5350 baht.  I DID mention to him that I had already paid the 130 USD Passport fee and had a receipt. Not sure if he figured that into the price or if that is going to be the fee charged for all Passport renewals.

and for that what does he do?   what a waste OF $$$

Easy process transfering the stamps to do self at immigration. .

90 days you can still do online with old passport number, just make sure you have it correctly updated at immigration office before you aplly for your visa extension.

i just got a new US passport, as my last extension was issued in Trang and i am in Phuket, rather than dela with transfer the stamps to new passport and than file the 90day i am just going to use the mail service an send copies off all relevant pages to Bangkok.

  4. FYI:
NO agent in Phuket, when u dont have the 800,000 in the bank, will get u an extension in Phuket
TVC  is the best and cheapest UNLESS u live in Pattaya

    OP  : u paid $900 for a Non O visa ONLY
not the extension as well ( which would have given u 15 months)
OR   did  you get the 15 months, that a great price if no money in bank
PLEASE post that agent name if it true

I wrote this about last year, you can get a service bus from Pattaya to Bangkok Ekama bus station on Sukhumvit, or road or Morchit  Northen bus terminal, then another service bus down to Aranyaprathet, then best way is a motorcycle taxi down to the border, then have lunch may be a late one, then do the return journey.

It might be longer in time than a minibus, but you should be able to do the whole journey for 1000-12000 baht, for service bus information call the call center 1490.

    More adventurous
Rent a motorcycle: head to Chanthaburi, than north to Pong Nam Ron, cross there ( voa for Cambodia $30) and back. there and back in a day

Most legal offices seem to be charging 10 thousand baht, which includes the 130 USD passport fee. If Hart is charging more than that, his British competitor in Soi Buakow will continue to get the business.  I won't pay more just because Ben is an American.

why would anyone pay an agent?   it is quite simple if you follow the directions which are not difficult!!!

FYI: even thou they offer email notification., i got ZERO emails  :-)

After not posting for a couple of months, I seem to have gone ballistic, however this last event is an absolute doozy, so I just had to post here about it.........

A friend enquired about the tapas in a recently opened tapas restaurant, only to be told that they didn't do tapas.

This gets interesting because not only do they not do tapas, which is on the sign outside of the restaurant, the owner is from Sweden (not famous for its tapas) and the name of the restaurant is the "Mayflower" (named after a flower or a famous ship?).

And to top the lot, on a billboard outside of the "restaurant" there are several pics of burgers with French fries and similar.

So we have a Swedish guy, opening a tapas restaurant which doesn't serve tapas, in Thailand and naming the restaurant the Mayflower, outside of which is an advertising board containing pics of burgers....hmmm. TIT.

ages ago, back in the 90's, i considered opening a advisement office with a thai lawyer services
My speciality would be to give advice to newcomers on the posible successfulness of their "Business plan"
but how to get client's willing to spend $$$, to have them told their "dream" is a stupid idea

Also when i ran the Phuket Food, shopping entertainment guide, I would ask all new business to advertise>
sometimes would enter a new restaurant and present the book , only to be told that there were so many restaurant's in it already, at which i would smile and say < "yep, so why did you open another one"?
