Thai PM says he opposes the recreational use of cannabis
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Indeed so. Mind you, it is not unknown for "enemies" (perhaps an exaggeration to describe them as such, but certainly a person who could perhaps be described as having a moderate amount of power) to clutch at straws to "do the dirty" on posters! Certainly you are right to suggest that one should be careful as to whom one crosses! -
Thai PM says he opposes the recreational use of cannabis
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No irony at all @shocky2012. I don't have a particular view on cannabis personally, nor do I have any interest in using the stuff personally. I will admit that I don't like being around people who are smoking the stuff, but then I don't like being around people smoking tobacco, (or "vaping"); I don't like the smell of either burning substance. The irony in my post, which you do seem to have missed, is that an enthusiast for consuming cannabis refers to the problem of addiction, when the central plank of the argument of many of those same enthusiasts is that it is entirely harmless and not addictive. As for my profile picture, very few here will understand the particular combination of my username and the photograph of a case of that particular brand of a German beer, there is no reason why they should; but there is no irony, either intended or unforseen! -
Thai Air Force In Joint Drill With US Air National Guards
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The most chilling phrase in any "Orders Group": Close air support will be provided by the United States Air Force". -
If you live in the city, and it sounds as if you do, then get out, find what you like and buy it. If you buy regularly, the same bread from the same supplier then they will keep it for you. If you live in the countryside then you can bake your own. Experiment with recipes ingredients and methods, until you find a method that works for you. There are literally thousands of recipes and videos on the web, for a process which man has been doing for thousands of years. Sorry to be so grumpy, it's 5am and I can't sleep. Maybe I will go and make a cup of tea!

Thai PM says use of cannabis must be regulated within six months
herfiehandbag replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Most, almost all, the "outlets" which opened in Chiang Rai have closed. Frankly it seems that the market is " regulating itself". -
Brexit: UK could rejoin EU as an ‘associate member’
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It may well be supported by both Labour and the Conservatives. After all they had a cosy consensus on "matters EU" pretty well from the start. That it proved to be a concensus not shared by the people ( remember that they voted to leave when foolishly Cameron gave them a vote on the business) matters to them not one jot. They know better! -
Thai Workers Are A Joke
herfiehandbag replied to Brewster67's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
I always thought that borrowing your tools was a joke, until my wife hired a recommended expert to fix a water pump. He turned up on his motorbike, no tools... -
I must confess that I have never really seen an urban bus system in Thailand, outside of Bangkok. Certainly up here in the frozen north, we had one route in Chiang Rai which packed in after six months or so. I don't think Chiang Mai have any, although I remember bus stops being set up about 8 years ago. Never got any buses to go with them! The ones I have seen in Bangkok appear to be ancient and decrepit, held together with duct tape and bitumastic sealant, dribbling water from knackered air conditioning systems. As I've said, never seen any anywhere else. I suspect the various songthaw mafias are too strong.

Thai PM sees a role for Thaksin when he gets out of jail
herfiehandbag replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I don't know why he doesn't rebrand himself as "Uncle Tony". All transgressions forgiven, and revered as an elder statesman, a font of wise advice. I mean, he has already got a nice watch... -

My father underwent surgery last week : Paetongtarn
herfiehandbag replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The Student and People Network for Thailand Reform (SNT) will no doubt complain that they were not able to watch, and will demand that they have access to full details, all the notes, and any bits which were removed! -
Along with the police carrying out de facto executions of one of their colleagues at the behest of an "influential local political figure". A new minister in the newly installed government being fingered for corruption in connection with the remarkable failure to do anything about the Red Bull creature. Ethics, ho ho ho!

Hmm, taxi meters these days are digital - no moving parts. They are fed by an electrical pulse from the cars odometer. These will be either a straight connection from the electrical odometer, or a pulse generated by a gadget inserted in the odometer cable if it has a mechanical drive. Both are very cheap. It's a dozen years since I had such a drive replaced in the UK, but it only cost a few quid. Meters are invariably "broken" because they have either been physically disconnected, (often by a switch inserted in the wiring) or have had a botched attempt to reprogramme them.

I think @bannork was a bit closer to the mark. I doubt that they care in the slightest how incongruously go comfortable the conditions in which he is kept, it is the keeping him which matters.

MPs Urged To Probe Srettha’s 30-Million-Baht Chartered Flight To US
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Royal Thai Air Force has: 4 Boeing 737s, 1 Airbus 319, 2 Airbus 320s, 1 Airbus A340 ( specifically acquired if I recall to fly very long haul flights such as Bangkok - New York); all configured for VIP transport. if you add in the smaller aircraft, ATRs, SAABs and the Sukhois, then it has a remarkable total of 25 VIP aircraft, compared to 12 tactical airlift aircraft (C130s). why are they having to hire a civilian airliner? Has the military said no, you are civvies, you can't fly on our aircraft? Keep asking the awkward questions MFP! -
Stations and sidings built for 8 coach trains ( two 4 car units coupled together). Despite the desperate overcrowding at times, which has been the case for what, the last ten years, I have never seen or heard of an 8 coach train. Incidentally, what happened about the "Airport Link" trains, a few years ago the service frequency was cut because trains were out of service awaiting maintenance, has this been sorted?

Give it to my Brother in Law. He has managed to reduce both the (old but serviceable) bikes I gifted to my Father in Law to scrap within 6 months.
