A tilt of the head, set of the lips and look in the eyes which needed to be present for what, one second, whilst the photographer fired of a burst of pictures, later selecting the one which best served. I have seen some remarkable conclusions drawn in defence of Mr Trump on this board and elsewhere in the past few months but, my giddy aunt, you really are going for broke with this one!

Paetongtarn visits her father Thaksin in hospital

It is probably a result of the lack of any emojis for expressing dissent or disagreement. -
Petition submitted against Thaksin seeking Royal pardon

Unless they are in turn double crossed. The clever bar stewards knew that Pheu Thai's massive support guaranteed big problems if Thaksin remained in prison. However they may have calculated that by subsuming Pheu Thai into the establishment they have significantly reduced that support base - they probably have; however that doesn't necessarily mean that popular support for Thaksin as an individual has been similarly removed. It is worth noting that his daughter, who was let us face it the lead campaigner and "pin up" for the campaign has no place in the government they are forming. -
Petition submitted against Thaksin seeking Royal pardon

From a party which campaigned on a platform of hugely extending the scope and use of the lese majeste laws, and absolutely no constitutional reform. A party which was founded to oppose the student demonstrations of the last couple of years, demands the "closure of spaces" at university campuses for any demonstrators, or groups which it considers as progressive or subversive ( defined by them); a party which further demands that foreign countries extradite any critics of the Thai government. A party with a mass membership of some 13,000 and which failed to win any seats in the general election! -
Thai girl battles rhabdomyolysis after harsh school punishment
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
100 squat jumps is a hugely excessive punishment for a young teenage girl, hell, it would be an excessive punishment for a trained soldier! As a "PE teacher" he should know and understand the damage that such exercise could do to her body. I know it is a generalisation but in my time teaching here, several of the teachers were a bit handy with the cane, but the biggest bully was the male PE teacher. -
I think the whole idea of that one bit the dust after the last "poster of the year", supposedly a Thai female called "Ying" turned out to be an Australian taking the Mickey!

Pita won the election, he and his party won more votes (significantly) and seats than any other party. He formed a coalition which had a clear parliamentary majority, and, in terms of the popular vote, the backing of some 60%+ of the electorate. The power brokers of the political establishment blocked his route to Prime Minister by using the Election Commission and the courts to spin a ludicrous interpretation of a ridiculous law. They used a "paid for senate" which they appointed and which answered only to them to bypass his parliamentary majority, and then devoted their energies to splitting the coalition. Nearly four months after the election the government which was so comprehensively rejected in the election is still in place. Yes a "new government" is being formed, itself far removed from what the electorate voted for, and even when that is to actually take power is lost in a swirling mist of "in due course, when everything is approved, sometime next week"! Meanwhile Prayut is still making the decisions, Wissanu is still liberally shoveling his bull<deleted> over the media, the election, and the electorate have been ignored. Pita has an attitude problem? Who can possibly blame him for wanting to stay outside of the charade? Let the Democrats bask in the limelight of the "official opposition", they are used to being ignored, and already have the white comic opera dress uniforms in their lockers!

Absolutely - should sort out some of the idle practices which have been creeping into the children's foot drill lately!

PM Prayut bids farewell to the Thai people

Go on matey, why don't you round it off with one final chorus... There are several songs from the 1930s that would do! -
Chinese Tourist Shortfall Takes Toll on Pattaya’s Tourism Sector
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
The lower budget tourists are not coming. The Chinese economy is down the pan. The masses don't have the money. The collapsed property market has soaked up all the cash. The visa restrictions are largely irrelevant - it didn't stop them before. The lack of flights is because there is a lack of customers. -
Why does McDonalds cost so much in Thailand?

Especially when gently waving groves of Papaya trees are as common England as herds of beef cattle are in Thailand... -
Public support for new Brexit referendum revealed
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I think that the first step would be for one of the political parties to campaign and run in a general election on the manifesto platform of rejoining the EU. - and win a significant majority in Parliament. That would allow for a sustained public debate on the matter, ultimately decided by the electorate, rather than the cozy Westminster, media and establishment consensus which decided our relationship within the EU without any real reference to or debate within the electorate for over 40 years. Once that has happened, and the settled will of the electorate is known, as opposed to the views peddled by the Daily Mail, Daily Express, The Guardian, The Independent and the BBC, then attention can be turned to negotiations, and the 8 points which you mention. -
The "joke" translate well doesn't it? That was part of the brilliance of "Goodness Gracious Me"

Refreshingly honest statement in it's own way. You are wrong. <deleted> off, and when you come to the gate marked you can't <deleted> off past here, live the impossible dream, climb over the gate and <deleted> off some more!

As I said, you are just trying to pick a fight - perhaps to get me riled, say something unwise, and get myself suspended? Well I am not interested, and will take no further part in the conversation.
-
This was over ten years ago. I haven't been to Bangkok for several years so, "post COVID", I don't know what there is now.
-
Since you appear interested, I drank a beer, slept well for some 7 hours, awoke refreshed, took two of my dogs for a walk, sat down for breakfast and looked at AN, saw the post and answered it; at which point you joined in with your attempt to start an argument.

I understand that Mao also had a bit of a thing for girls in "Mao jackets" - 12 year olds apparently...
-
1) I don't like being called a liar 2) For most of the last 10 hours I was asleep. 3) You are just trying to pick a fight in an empty room.
-
Are you calling me a liar? You weren't there, I was, albeit merely an observer, I took no part in the exchange, merely watched it. I report what I saw. I have no interest in creating or maintaining a stereotype; in fact I have several friends here in Thailand who are of Indian and Sri Lankan origin. No racism, it is quite simply what I saw happen. It is no big matter, it is something I saw happen once, as I said, over ten years ago. But for you to insist that it didn't happen, that I am making up a story, when you have absolutely no knowledge of the matter, or of me for that matter, is ridiculous.
