  1. Busy on a Sunday morning...
  2. Terribly sad; 18 and starting out doing what she loved. God bless her. My daughter is 18, loves singing and dancing (runner up in the Chiang Rai Schools competition yesterday) and plans on going to university to study drama and dance next year.
  3. Nakhonchai Air I expect! The jet, and probably most of the VIP status symbols are probably firmly in the hands of the Generals.
  4. I say, that is a bit unfair. Some of the Farang denizens are admittedly a tad "sub prime" but...
  5. Surf 'n Turf on Jetyod Rd. Lovely waitress - I'm biased, she is my daughter!
  6. I should imagine an extra office. The current office is quite new.
  7. They may well replace individuals, after all with 1700 Generals, Admirals and Air Force whatevers, plus all the top Rozzers in Central Casting, it can't be too difficult to find 250 suitable candidates retiring every 5 years! What to look out for is a renewal ( or perhaps even an extension) of the Senate's powers - that is probably factored in to whatever deal they cooked up with Pheu Thai to get Thaksin back.
  8. Get a real life black dog! In between walking it, feeding it and being entertained by it, you won't have time to be depressed. You don't need to go over the top and have three sisters (two Chihuahuas and a miniature Pomeranian) You won't need an alarm clock either - the day starts at dawn Daddy!
  9. Built by the Romans on hot springs big Roman baths hence the name. Originally called Aqua Sulis - Latin for waters of the sun which would be an even stranger name. There are a couple of places called Bath in the USA, but since the original has been going for over 2000 years it is fair to assume that it is the original! By the way, I think I get what you are suggesting, chose not to bite!
  10. Solar powered trains? They have had taxi meters for what, 30 years now, and most of them don't work. "Sorry, no trains today, sun not shine". Mind you, it would make a change from wrong kind of snow, or leaves on the line!
  11. I had Lonely Planet when I first came here. I still use it, not for hotel/restaurant info, that has inevitably changed, but useful for sketch maps and historical synopsis. I don't tend to carry it with me, but will read it at home before going somewhere
  12. For those that tradition serves. But when the majority of the people reject traditions, or simply don't care, will they last?
  13. I believe "Pornhub" has a remarkably comprehensive search engine...
  14. Thai bureaucracy at its best! Complete everything on line, and then go to the office to get the papers stamped! Brilliant!
  15. This outfit ran these buses ( same colour scheme) in a number of cities in the UK, including the one I came from. There they used loopholes in the road traffic regulations designed to help public buses to trundle around. They run to a pre-recorded commentary, theoretically using headphones but in practice usually broadcast over loudspeakers. Because the drivers had to keep to the commentary they moved very slowly, and would stop in the middle of the road, pumping out diesel fumes and their inane historically inaccurate commentaries outside various landmarks. Major contributors to congestion and pollution, and where I lived (Bath) a lot of damage to the roads - the Georgian terrace housing has cellars which extend out under the roads. I always wondered in what way they were "official". They were hated by the locals. Bloody things.
  16. Allows you to peer through the windows of the upstairs rooms...
  17. Muttering something about flashing his headlights to warn the train that he was cling through...
  18. As ever with these posts there are three possibilities: he is barking, taking the Mickey, or started on the booze early!
  19. So that's where the two "Uncles" fit in! They had to be part of the deal somehow. I wonder whether their "advice" will be specific to matters military, or more wide ranging?
  20. As he finished speaking there was a loud rumbling noise as the 105 mm gun barrel of a M60 tank appeared at his office window... The sylph like form of General Prawit vaulted athletically from the commanders hatch to the ground (OK, OK, that last bit is getting into the realms of fantasy)!
  21. So you can't cite, or give a link, to the specific cases of 5 years in US and 1 month in Australia then? I mean fair enough if you can't, or won't, but it does rather colour your whole argument doesn't it!
  22. That would make an epic opening argument when the appeal is heard by the Supreme Court. Hard not to conclude that brave hard done by Donnie is as pure as Stormy Daniels, and as abused as her knicker elastic, after hearing that one!
  23. Umh, we need to know a little bit more to make sense of your comment: what did he do to get 5 years jail, what did he do in Australia (presumably that is what you mean by Oz, unless you are talking of a magic land at the end of a yellow brick road) to get a month jail, if they are different people, and different offences, then to what extent are they comparable? If you can't or won't explain that then at least point us at the links to allow us ( if we are interested) to read ourselves. Googling 5 years jail in US, 1 month in Australia doesn't throw up anything.
  24. It will probably be little consolation to you that amongst many Europeans ( the continent not the political construct) and other "allied nations" America has lost influence since Trump's election, and in many corridors of power, and spheres of activity much thought and discussion will be turning to how to proceed should America withdraw, or indeed perhaps collapse into an ineffectual ( internationally) maelstrom. Imagine, all that military power projection, vast fleets, aircraft carriers, submarines, armies and air forces bobbing around hamstrung by the lack of a coherent government. It is being considered, you can bet on it!
  25. I am in little doubt that the people running Black Lives Matter are corrupt, and have hijacked the organisation, meant to help African Americans, and have turned it, and particularly it's financial operations, to benefit them. That needs to be thoroughly investigated and if necessary prosecuted. That is going to be difficult in America's poisonous and polarised racial environment, but it needs to be done. It has nothing, nothing, to do with the racially inspired comments on this judge, and on the Georgia District Attorney. Trump is making/engineering them because he knows that such filthy behaviour will appeal to his base. Suggestions that a photograph reveal the judge to be "evil scum" are pretty much par for the course with this bigoted small minded and ignorant camp. Now I said that America has a poisonous and polarised racial environment. That arises from a deep seated and significant white supremacist faction which is both numerous and politically powerful in American society, a society which whilst preaching freedom and equality for all peoples has, since the formation of the Republic, initially basically exterminated it's indigenous peoples, and then set about it's black community. Freed from slavery yes, but then subjected to political, social, economic, educational, religious and penal segregation for the subsequent 150 years. Goodness me, arguably more oppressive than anything to come out of southern Africa. That last paragraph are my personal opinions, there again no more ridiculous (much less in fact) than deducing and declaring the essentials of this judges character and her fitness to preside from a photograph! I suspect that the sexist and racist rubbishing of Trump's prosecutors and judges bear out my opinions; just wait until we get to jury selection!
