Thai Mother Accused of Killing Son in Wales Appears in Court

I too feel sorry for the child. Locking her up for a long time, if she acted whilst mentally ill, will not bring the child back, will not stop another mentally ill parent from potentially doing similar. It will probably do irreparable damage to her fragile mental condition. She needs a sentence, with appropriate treatment, determined by her mental condition when she committed the crime. A sentence which ensured that she is properly treated, is appropriately punished with a view to rehabilitation, and not just locked away for as long as possible to satisfy an atavistic demand for revenge. -
Yes, I served alongside our American allies in two different campaigns around the turn of the century. On both occasions they were probably more dangerous than the enemy (Iraq). Certainly the most thought provoking and chilling announcement at any briefing or Orders Group was " close air support will be provided by the US Air Force. We had procedures known as "danger close", the US had "Ya Hoo let those red arsed babies fly" ( a quote I actually heard over the radio) often followed by "oh **** they've done it again"! Poorly trained and over reliant on technology, lacking in flexibility at lower levels. Lots of "Gucci" kit though. As for WWii; we had been fighting for two and a half years before you got involved. Mass bombing, a desperate battle to keep the Atlantic convoy routes open. Yes you supplied a lot of kit, for which we payed cash, and then when the countries cash ( and gold reserves) had been used up, you gave us credit, which we finally finished paying back in 2006. The US played a significant part in the allied victory over Germany. Not exactly saving our ass though!

The UVF and The Shankhill Butchers were the very worst kind of foul savage murdering terrorists. I saw one of the Shankhill Butchers "romper rooms" when it was raided, I was on the cordon, horrible things went on in there. Lenny Murphy, their psychotic leader, was eventually murdered by others in the gang. The weapon used was lent to the UVF by the Provisional IRA. It was forensically "clean" (had never been used) so there was no ballistic evidence - not that anyone looked too hard! -
10% of Thais Engage in Heavy Drinking, Report Finds
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm not a particular fan of the "if you don't like it go home" genre, but sometimes I do wonder! It must, apart from anything else, be quite difficult living in Thailand and keeping far away from most Thais! -
Outstanding questions remain about new visa rules for Thailand
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What remains to be seen is whether you are allowed to extend it at the immigration office. Chiang Rai used to give me one 60 day extension and one 30 day extension on each entry based upon having a dependent child (daughter at university). -

Ah yes metrics! 1) Black kids can continue to commit crime with effective impunity, '' cos they is oppressed innit". 2) Black kids can continue to kill other Black kids with impunity " cos it is their culture innit". 3) Black kids who rob and murder white kids are "reacting to a culture of institutional racism innit". 4) The most effective means of preventing stabbings, the threat of which is central to street crime, stop and search, is discrimination. And so we move on.

Well, of one thing we can be sure, if it was done at Biden's bidding (and no, I don't for a minute think it was), he will be able to claim immunity! -
