  1. I saw that video clip, and thought that she dealt with it well, so did the audience - they laughed so much that the heckler's shut up. Now who was It who asked "security" to take heckler's out the back and beat sh!t out of them, oh yes, Donald Trump!
  2. Defining crazy, normal and extreme! Oh the irony! Do you read your posts before you press "post"?
  3. Ah yes, Soi Zero, Clinton Plaza, Sukhumvit Square...
  4. I saw his acceptance speech. He is a good speaker, and seems a decent man, who can connect with people. I did like the line "mind your own business"! He also has a sense of humour - perhaps essential in a leader. Apparently when asked about his receding hairline he remarked that if you had spent 20 years supervising a high school lunch hall you would have lost your hair as well! Of course not up there with "childless cat lady" but nonetheless quite refreshing.
  5. Equiniti! As I am sure you know every year they send you a pension statement! Two years ago mine was opened at the Bangkok International mail office ( a sticker telling me this was used to reseal it. The amount I received annually, and the monthly amount was written in Thailand script on the back of the envelope! But they tell me that they won't use email as it "is not secure"!
  6. Republican tragedy (?) but perhaps a delicious touch of irony?
  7. 1: The previous debate (both Biden and Trump were presumptive candidates) was run by CNN not ABC. 2: Both debates were the subject of considerable negotiation. It must have been known that the first debate would be between the presumptive candidates, and very obviously the second between the actual selected candidates. By definition the presumptive candidate is not necessarily the actual candidate. In this case the Democrat candidate has changed. The agreed moderation specifically does not allow for one candidate to "shout over" another, and it is intended to improve factual accuracy. Since it is very much Donald Trump's style to lie and browbeat his opponents, it will be very much in his interest to affect a change in debate hosts, and in particular to one (Fox News) which is frankly less likely to reign in Trump. The essentials of the agreed debate have not changed - the actual candidates and the agreed conditions. Trump is merely trying to change the rules, to his advantage.
  8. Politics can be a devious business. I can't help wondering whether there are those (perhaps rather a lot) within the Republican Party, shall we say less than appreciative of Mr Trumps takeover of the party, his crass and boorish campaigning, reflecting his personality and virtually excluding others, marked by his self centred view of the Presidency, a declared lack of interest or concerns for democratic judicial and constitutional matters and to his particular "support movement"; who would not see his failure as rather a positive for the long term hopes of their party. Particularly some with longer term senatorial or gubernatorial ambitions.
  9. I absolutely agree that prisoners should be treated according to the various international laws and conventions. I do wonder at the idiocy of a supposed "intelligence agency", enthusiastically engaging in activity which it fully well knows is illegal, comprehensively documenting with photographs, subsequently retained, such activity! Beyond stupid!
  10. Influential man... Police advice to drop the case...
  11. The only two I have heard speak ore Buttigeig and Walz. I think Waltz has the edge but Buttigeig struck me as sensible too.
  12. Certainly not the case with Mr Trump. He makes it up as he goes along.
  13. I am beyond distraught. How can we have been so cruelly deceived. My dreams of a liberal progressive future for the United States lie in ruins. Putting aside that Donald Trump is a convicted felon, adjudged in the civil courts of being a sexual predator, a tax and insurance fraudster, a multiple bankrupt with the reputation of using bankruptcy to "stiff" creditors large and small, boast about his sexual predilections including roaming the changing rooms of teenage girls in beauty pageants, "grabbing pussy", shagging porn stars whilst his wife is nursing a newborn; leaving all that to one side ( and what a steaming heap it is!) at least we can say that none of his various spouses has ever got the nanny pregnant! It is clearly all over bar the shouting! And knowing Donald there will be plenty of that!
  14. It is not getting fixed. Yes, someone has been arrested and is being held. The children remain dead. That is not fixed. The underlying factor, and I am sorry, but there is no particularly politically correct way of saying thisl, the prevalence of knife crime amongst black youths, and their willingness to use the most dramatic bladed weapons such as machetes and various "ninja" swords, along with the ease of access to such weapons, goes unfixed, and has done for quite a long time. Three children remain dead. There is no popular trust in the interest or ability of "the establishment", politicians of every party, the Police Force (and in particular it's commanders), the Judiciary or the legal profession to fix it.
  15. One phrase: felonies, committed by fraudulently using campaign funds to pay off a porn star he shagged.
  16. I suspect not, for two reasons: Trump is not exactly known for admitting mistakes, and secondly, if the Harris campaign continues to make real headway he will need a fall guy to carry the can. If he does, talk about a poisened chalice, for whichever poor sod takes on the job!
  17. Oh I can just imagine the fat Walts waddling in open order through Washington, "going firm" around every fast food outlet they pass to take on additional supplies!
  18. Facts Tug, facts, they have nothing to do with the imaginations of the Trump fanatics. They have about as tenuous a connection with reality as his hair - waking early and unable to go back to sleep I had a close look at the photograph on the OP. It really is a quite bizarre construction isn't it!
  19. I'd check the earth on your computer if I were you!
  20. Perhaps that is why they chose such a stellar, universally popular candidate for Vice President...
  21. Now from my very limited experience of boxing in the Army, (donkeys years ago - because I had been a reasonable fencer, and had competed in Army championships, some wize guy put me in charge of running the regimental boxing competition, "duty required me to fight a bout" I was plastered all over the ring before the referees stopped it after one round.) the overriding principle in the sport is that opponents should be as evenly matched as is possible. This is clearly not the case here. The IOC boxing committee got it badly wrong.
  22. So she should be boxing against other "cisgender" people, or perhaps more accurately people with similar physical characteristics. The physical mismatch between her and her opponents ( and probably any future opponents) is such that a bout is a foregone conclusion, and certainly not sport.
