Before you post things like this are you sure it's the same guy? I have seen this posted on another forum and if he has plenty of previous as you quoted how would he get work permit?

There are no criminal background checks required for a Non-B visa or work permit IIRC. For English teachers? I don't know.

Thais will probably check their own system but they don't have access to foreign Police records. It should be noted that their own system (for locals anyway) is a complete nonsense.

What they usually do in other countries is ask for a Police background check prior to issuance of a work visa. You have to produce one from your home country if you are applying for Thai permanent residency.

However, this one was from Britain. A lot of stories about Brits acting badly lately. Why is that?

Unfortunately Thailand has started to attract the lower class Brits in numbers in recent years. 15-20 years ago they were confined to Spain and Portugal but budget long haul air travel put paid to that.

Hopefully one good thing about this COVID-19 crisis is that air travel will become more expensive and keep most of these mouth-breathers closer to home.

I believe the word has come down from the top, promote the biometric system at any opportunity. Especially the smart cars.

Of course, and it nicely fits the 'foreigners are bad' agenda and xenophobic sentiment they have been pushing at the moment to deflect from the real elephant in the room.

It's also a good opportunity to attempt to justify the billions of wasted money spent on it.

This still doesn't say anything about NonImm O and NonImm OA visa or extension holders based on retirement.  To my mind, further evidence that retirees rank pretty low.

Retirees are generally older and thus higher risk and may require medical care.

No surprise that they may still not yet be included.

Still, a reminder that proper due diligence must be done thoroughly before choosing to retire somewhere and not based on availability of bars and short times.

Great bikes and no real issues with reliability. There are some people using them to travel around the world

Itchy Boots on YouTube is a good channel. She rides a Himalayan round the World.

Thanks for replying, but I'm none the wiser regarding the gears and brakes? Did you mean because they're modern motorcycles they have now changed the gears/brakes to be the same as everyone else?

They are exactly the same as all other manufacturer's bikes. Clutch on the left hand, front brake on the right. Gear shifts with the left foot, rear brake on the right.

Incidentally the gearbox on the 650 twins is superb. A real joy to operate. Better even than most Japanese brands I have ridden.

The only negs about the bike would be the rear suspension at speed is a bit iffy, and could do with an upgrade, and the bike is a bit heavy for what it is. Other than that, all good.

I'm not really enamoured with the Royal Enfield's looks personally.

The new 650s are very nice looking IMO.

I understand the Indian produced bikes have the brake on the right and gears on the left now?

I rented one in India years ago (obviously British produced), it took some getting used to.

    They are modern motorcycles.

One thing that attracted me to the Interceptor, apart from the fact it was half the price of the equivalent Triumph Street Twin, was there was no gimmicks on it. No ride modes, no lcd dials etc. It is a motorcycle for the purist, to be enjoyed for the ride.

Make no mistake though, it is a better ride than the Street Twin. Again, just my opinion, but most reviewers out there tend to agree including MCN.
