Hmm, I wonder how much compensation he would have got if she kicked him. My guess a wai followed by a sorry mister and to top it all off with photo op to the media would have done it.
I doubt there would be any opportunity to extort money in that case.
However in my opinion he should have been arrested, charged and deported for physically assaulting a woman.

Why pretend you don't know why? Different startup, different far more virulent strain. TVF Virologists know that Thais performed miserably previously as well, so you must be joking. So far the measures are the usual and more of the same, as in other countries. Too early to judge the effectiveness, to which you may compare the effectiveness of similar measures elsewhere.
The "debacle" is merely in your imagination so far for bashing and cred enhancement. If The Authorities had just gone for the ol' total lockdown from the beginning, w/ no hesitation, to avoid your "debacle," the howls on TVF would have filled hundreds of pages. ????
Ah. You've found a yet another capability for the prescient TVF Eyeballs: COVID testing. (We last discovered they have LIDAR capability.) So how many cases have you uncovered in Pattaya now owing to the incompetence and lack of diligence of the stupid Authorities? Have you reported them?????
No idea why you are bothering to quote me mate, I have posted several times giving the Thai authorities plaudits for their performance in dealing with the outbreak since March.
You seem to have taken me for some sort of serial Thai basher but you are mistaken. I give credit where credit is due, but no question that in my opinion there has been nothing short of a fumble this time around allowing inter-provincial travel and the PM announcing there would be no lockdown despite provincial governors issuing edicts contrary to that statement.
But you crack on, we'll see how this all pans out come February.

Loads of litle porkies on legs under 10 years old these days compared to just a few years ago.
Thais eat a lot more white rice which has a high glycemic index and results in type 2 diabetes.

Looks at Singapore...........tens of thousands of migrants with Covid...........deaths ?????
They are fit and healthy and not old, sick or fat.
As I posted in another thread.......... In England in the whole of 2020 up to Dec 16th.........only 377 people under 60 with no known underlying sickness had died of Covid.
Thailand even with a lot of cases will not suffer a lot of deaths. Thai's are generally very healthy.
If you want to see obesity and diabetes and heart disease........look to the USA and Europe.
RESULTS—The estimated national prevalence of diabetes in Thai adults was 9.6% (2.4 million people), which included 4.8% previously diagnosed and 4.8% newly diagnosed. The prevalence of impaired fasting glucose was 5.4% (1.4 million people).

You seem a bit behind the curve. Ace TVF Virologists, knowing all about Thailand's inaction and incompetence in comparison to themselves, have insisted from the very beginning Thailand's always had a vast number of cases--worse of course than in the UK, where the crisis has been so effectively handled--but merely covering up all the cases for reasons of "face-saving." (Thai psychology has been learned via close readings of Money Number One, decades ago, or parroted therefrom.)
It was never clear, however, how all the cases being hospitalized, and the countless inevitable deaths, were hidden from the public.
So what you and our other ace Virologists now advising on how to handle the crisis, like the UK did, need to do is explain why the face-saving was suddenly dropped or the cases now come to light, somehow. WOT???
I merely commented why the Thai authorities did not manage to repeat their previous good performance in dealing with the outbreak during the first wave? No need to get your knickers all in a bunch about the current debacle. And it is a debacle, judging by the myriad of incomprehensible announcements, u-turns and confusion we are now witnessing.
How is the competence and diligence of the Thai authorities working out for all those go-go bars and other 'businesses' you like to frequent in Pattaya mate?
Not very well by the looks of things.
Chok dee khrap.

I think they know that in 2-ish weeks it's about to explode.
So why let everyone travel about over New Year?
They should have had a handle on this since the Samut Sakhon outbreak was first discovered.
As well as they did with the first wave it was inevitable that the usual inaction and incompetence would raise itself to the fore eventually.
To quote Carmine Lupertazzi Jr., "you're at the precipice....of an enormous crossroads."

Well at least they haven't decided that you have to eat a Scotch egg with every pint! Be grateful for small mercies, lol.
I was doing a pickled egg or pickled onion per pint when I lived in Bangkok but never saw any Scotch eggs? Where can these culinary delicacies be found?

In the uk evidently they will be issuing a card when you get your vaccinations,so if thailand are going to insist on quaraǹtine despite this it will be the final nail in the tourism industry.
I've got a yellow book that I needed when working offshore that details all the vaccinations received. Some were mandatory for entry into certain countries especially Africa.
Saying that a vaccine card is a great idea by the UK.

The Queen owns most if not all the land in the countries she is sovereign. That includes the UK, Australia, NZ and Canada as far as I am aware.

The linked advert actually states no key money.
Yep, and then quotes an asking price of THB 1,490,000 which for the sake of splitting hairs we will assume is for the sale of the 'business' i.e. the fixtures and fittings etc.

Also, Scuba posted The Devonshire is for sale also, but for some reason his post was removed.
The Devonshire does a great breakfast. I'll miss it.
Why would anyone in their right mind pay key money for a failed business in the middle of a global pandemic and when the main source of income has disappeared?
Absurd.

Dunno about that, English is the lingua franca of the modern World, and British standards of justice, education and democracy are still the benchmark to which most developing countries aspire.
The Empire has this legacy which lives on.
Well done to Richard, an accolade that will no doubt irritate the pants off his detractors on here.

If it wasn't so pathetic it'd be funny - Anutin and Yong, both in prominent positions continually spouting rhetoric and rules, yet among the first to (apparently) fall to Covid-19. Anutin is clueless, but Yong *really* should know better.
Typically Thai. Love to bark orders and tell people what to do but don't follow rules and do what they want instead.
There has been no further news about Anutin, so I am presuming he is infected?

I don't know how this is organized. But these orders come from the governor of Chonburi. The mayor of Pattaya said that the New Years festivals will not be canceled and also the entertainment will not be closed. The Chonburi governor ended both. Obviously the Chonburi governor can decide what happens in Pattaya.
He is the head mafia guy there, son of Kamnan PO, now deceased convicted killer that absconded from justice in the 2000s.
His brothers are in Government positions. Their family run Chonburi and have for years.

You have then to ask, does the tourism industry actually create anything of value? It's a Keynesian economist's dream.
Service industries like tourism just tend to move money around and encourage spending and instant gratification instead of patience, capital accumulation and investment, which is the entire premise behind Keynesian economics; keep them spending and stave off recession.
The shift away from a reliance on tourism to more productive industries could just be the silver lining in the cloud that developing countries could benefit from.

This is what happens when people support a military administration into power to depose elected administrations. There's no checks and balances at all and they answer to no-one.
In addition, totalitarian, military governments are notoriously bad at controlling the economy of the country they are in charge of.
A poorly handled COVID crisis will mean deep, deep economic and political problems ahead for Thailand.

Prepare for Lockdown V2 it would seem is very likely mid to late Jan.
