This reminds me of the fable of the frog and the scorpion. A scorpion wants to cross a river but cannot swim, so it asks a frog to carry it across. The frog hesitates, afraid that the scorpion might sting it, but the scorpion promises not to, pointing out that it would drown if it killed the frog in the middle of the river. The frog considers this argument sensible and agrees to transport the scorpion. Midway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog anyway, dooming them both. The dying frog asks the scorpion why it stung despite knowing the consequence, to which the scorpion replies: “I am sorry, but I couldn't resist the urge. It's in my nature.” Remember, it is in their nature.

Drove to BKK and back yesterday on the 7. Traffic was heavy due to the holiday. Saw the usual number of nutters driving dangerously and weaving in and out of traffic and driving pick-ups and SUV derivatives as sports cars. Some very unstable people out there. -
Thaksin’s pending return signals done deal?

Then the same should apply to the military officers that were in charge during the various coups, the Tak Bai massacre, at the Rajaprasong massacre of civilians etc. -

IIRC that was sanctioned by a higher authority than Thaksin. -

Complete hyperbolic nonsense. You've never heard of Thanom, Colonel Narong, General Praphas Charusathien, Suchinda or Sunthorn Kongsompong then? Not to mention Thailand was a fascist state under Phibun from 1939 until the end of the war, and no, not because of the Japanese invasion. -

They will have divided up the assets already. Harleys are expensive here, and a status symbol to some extent. Those occupations are reserved for the RTP only. -

As expats and long term residents, what happens in Thailand could directly affect us. As a taxpayer, business owner and employer, I am entitled to voice my opinion on Thai politics should I wish to do so. You are also very free to ignore our opinions, and this thread. -
Deep down they know it all too well, but they don't like the truth, unfortunately. Thailand is a very dirty and polluted country, which is still very much developing from 'Third-World' status. Cambodia and in particular Phnom Penh is worse! A quick drive around the back roads of Pattaya will reveal fly tipping everywhere, refuse in large piles outside accommodation blocks, people discarding litter out of their car windows etc. Again, it comes down to lack of enforcement and punishments for offenders.

Inadequate driving skills and an almost total lack of responsibility kills tens of Thais every day. Nothing is done. RIP to the poor woman.
