Try thinking that perhaps the idea of pattaya as a destination for sexpats is something that the majority of Thais don't like or want. Maybe you believe that pattaya needs/wants to be known as a big brothel.
To be honest I don't know how it will all end ref' pattaya night life, my feeling is the idea that it will change.
If that happens what will be your destination of choice? It will, I think be somewhere that you can find the hedonistic lifestyle you seem to want.
As so often appears to be the case, this seems to have become an either or debate. I haven't been to Pattaya for decades but isn't there room for both kinds of tourist, those who come to experience Thailand's cultural differences from their homeland and those who will happily prop up the bar scene? Neither one needs to be exclusive. There are plenty of cities around the world that manage to accomodate both, Amsterdam, Hamburg for example.
Furthermore we seem to be assuming that every visitor will fall into one camp or the other but I know from my own experiences many years ago that I thoroughly enjoyed both.-

I was in Bangkok a couple of weeks back and Terminal 21 at Asok was reasonably busy. Telecommunications outlets seemed busier than clothing, restaurants were patchy. That said, this mall is sited in the middle of the tourist area so probably attracts fewer locals.
Fortune Town for electronics and photography was busy when I visited.,

Well that's just put the reopening back.
If the opposition are in favour of it, then there's no way the Government will allow it to happen anytime soon.

He’s right…..but it still feels odd to agree with him.
Agreed but the railways in Thailand have suffered from decades of neglect including under his premiership.
The tracks need replacing to allow high speed trains to run on them, single line tracks need replacing with dual track, old diesel locomotives need replacing, electrification is needed, ancient rolling stock needs replacing, old stations need upgrading and refurbishment.
Hua Lamphong is centrally placed and should be regarded as the Capital's premier station but has not seen much/any investment for years. It is just an example of how the railways are viewed as a means of transport for the great unwashed by those in government , road and air attract huge investment but the SRT gets a pittance.

I had a couple of weeks in Bangkok, stayed at a hotel, ate out, even managed a sneaky beer or two.
Though it should be regarded it as an 'internal transfer' so to speak. Instead of spending my money for that fortnight in Pak Chong I was spending it in Bangkok.
I wonder if a few other people were distorting the figures like me?

Dear God! There is always someone wanting to make a name for themselves and one of easiest ways to do it here is to suggest that someone else has somehow disrespected the monarchy, the Country or the flag. Currying favour in the eyes of the establishment by being maliciously obsequious.
Democracy will forever be held back if this continues to hold sway. Bring on the young reformers!

It would be grossly irresponsible to board a commercial flight, particularly one that lasts around 11 hours or more, knowing you have TB. You would be exposing all nearby passengers and cabin crew to the risk of infection.
If you have been so unlucky as to catch the antibiotic resistant disease then I have enormous sympathy for you but you would not want to expose others to this risk.
My wife contracted TB on a flight from the UK to the USA. Thereafter followed 6 months of treatment. All the people we could name that she had contact with had to undergo testing. It was a real mess. I am sure you would not want to subject others to the worry and, possibly, life changing affliction.

Thanks Farmerslife, Sorry if I confused you, I am not trying to watch a TV station but sites that have TV series with Thai subs. There are many of them and they have series like The Good Doctor and 9-1-1.
I understand the bit about the phone but how I play on laptop do I go to something like VLC player ?Sorry, I got hold of the wrong end of the stick. It's not difficult to confuse me, it comes with my great age ???? l use Audials One to record and play videos from YouTube and the suchlike on my pc but it is not free software.

I connect my android tablet and my pc by with a usb data cable. This allows me to stream Netflix without any problems. I confess I have never tried tv stations.
On the phone go into settings then connections then mobile hotspot & USB tethering then USB tethering.
It may depend on phone package you are on though if you are able to watch freely on the phone it would suggest that isn't the cause of the problem.

I thought you were merely slightly verbose, but then you followed w/3 more posts... you live alone?
Oh, Mr. G.G is verbose all right but working out his agenda is slightly more complex. Though, usually it involves a large hook and a length of fishing line. ????

The article talks about registered post not international registered post. Huge assumption on my part but I think international registered will remain an option..

OMG! I find myself agreeing with something Anutin said;
"But equally he felt that owners of businesses and those offering services to the public were within their rights to serve who they wished in order to protect themselves, their other staff and their other customers."
Time for me to lie down in a darkened room. ????

I've been a regular visitor over many years, I even managed to live here for a couple of years in the 80's on little more than a wing and a prayer. I finally reached my retirement and after a fight with cancer was able to move out here a couple of years ago. Don't regret that decision at all.
The hoops that immigration make me jump through are minor in comparison with those my own country inflicts upon would-be immigrants. No, I don't like the political situation but it doesn't intrude into my life on the farm. I've met some truly wonderful people here, I try my best to integrate. I love the climate, the food, the culture. Every day seems to throw up something new, my senses are subjected to the good, the bad and the ugly on a daily basis but it keeps me alive.
Why would I want to spend the last years of my life vegetating through some boring existence back in the UK?-

I've just taken a look at the reviews on Google's Play Store, it seems a lot of people are having problems with this latest update.
Apologies to the OP as I know this is of no use to them but I think I'll defer updating until they've sorted out the glitches.

Yes, I noticed that on my visit to Bangkok the other week. They were also asking for 350 baht for a 3 ticket set.
I kept my money in my pocket and bought my tickets on my return to Pak Chong, a set of two still 200 baht.
Not that it will make the slightest difference, I still won't win. ????????

The problem of opening bars & clubs to 50% vaccinated Thais is the issue...
NOT double vaxxed PCR tested tourists.
Yes, but banning Thais from their own bars would seem a bit harsh.????
What's more, I don't know about you but I'm not overly keen on seeing a group of obese, elderly, balding, sweaty farang guys pole dancing in my favourite haunt.
Think I'll give that one a miss. ????

Whenever I am asked what I miss about the UK? The first thing that always comes to mind is roundabouts.
ArticFox has nailed it in the first comment on this thread.
