It is the Thai style.. Not thinking ahead but at the moment.. How long do they know already that there is a free day between the holiday and the Buddhistic celebrations?? If they announced it in January there were no problems, now we hear many people complain. Short term vision. Besides there are almost no holidays in Thailand, so why add more? the whole week we read about the household debts, and the Government pushes now again to spend and to go on holiday for the local economy... But very bad for the household debts. They don't care about anything it seems

A good solution, even if there not many people signing it. The action shows that the 8 parties are willing to wait and hold the country back for 10 months because of the senators.. They are the only ones t blame. The industry and businessmen are urging to get a new Government so the pressure will be enormous, although the senators don't care about anything except their power and wealth

with the Buriram balls now you need a drink too.. Happily no alcohol as she would be banned and punished for that. What will be next?

I am wondering why international organizations are to blame?? They have nothing to do with the political situation in Thailand. The problems occur from inside, and anarchy is a very big word. But as normal, everybody thinks they have the gift and talk a lot of rubbish that is believed by the people

A doctor in my country once said, that you can go to the hospital and do al check ups that are possible even if you don't feel well, but if they can't find anything you go home and as soon as left the building you can drop dead. It is part of life although very sad. This is maybe a case like this.. although maybe some better examination should have shown heart problems or they could have kept her for 24hrs observation. It is not said that the same wouldn't have happened

I have never had this problem. I can give you an example. The electrical wiring in the loft in my new house was a disaster, Spaghetti. I asked around in the village and found (oh wonder) a qualified electrician, he had the papers that qualified him to wire a hotel. He looked in my loft, muttered something akin to swearing shaking his head. "You buy me what I tell you and pay me 500 Baht a day," this was 18 years ago. I agreed. He gave me a list, wire class A, yellow plastic tubing, screws, drills, etc. He arrived with a helper but the electrician would pay him himself. It was the hot season, stripped to their underpants they worked, I think, 4 days. I looked in the loft, it was empty of hanging wires, neat plastic tubing screwed to walls and rafters. I gave him a 1,000 Baht per day, he was utterly shocked and tried to refuse but I insisted. Two days later he came to my house with a fuse box, "It's not new but it's better than the one you have, I'll put it in for free, you've already paid me too much," I blushed with embarrassment, I wouldn't have worked in that loft for a 1,000 pounds a day.
18 years ago.. I am talking about the last years

good to hear. It is shameful to try to put someone aside like they did with Pita. It is abuse of power and lack of responsibility too. and Pheu Thai wil not be happy. Senators have to do the wish of the people unless there are severe reason as high treason or so not to do, but in this case just the election of the PM should be not a problem. I hope they will be banned for 10 years too

I think many comments here are a little unfair, stereotyped Thais, lazy, no forward thinking etc. Many have no other option than to borrow for things like school activities, school uniforms, fees, learning materials etc. (also iphones, required at my 16 year old's school) especially as farmers are relying on the coming harvest, they've invested in their crops but haven't received any money yet. Also many small employers, garages, shops, builders, don't even pay the last minimum wage let alone the new one. I know enough Thais with two jobs not just one. I certainly don't find them lazy, the builders at my local temple are erecting buildings that are works of art and work enthusiastically in all weathers with no safety equipment even though, as the foreman told me, the pay isn't that good, their midday meal is the monks left overs.
Europeans with guaranteed wages, bonuses, holiday money, sick pay, pensions etc. enjoy benefits that a Thai can only dream of and due to low state pensions often have to support their parents as well as their own children. Many of you have no idea what these people go through because to save face they don't grumble, at least not to a stranger, they are an admirable proud, stoic people, corruption/rip offs among the little folk here is understandable.
Unlike the UK, where every 7th person is on the poverty line and in debt, there are no food banks or charitable organizations (that I know of anyway) to help out. The system is wrong, not the people.
probably you never needed a handyman for some small work.. Yes they come an check but if it is only for 1 day they are not interested.. and the young people neither... and I am not alone many Thais have the same problem, they can't find anyone and complain. I have a job for a gardener/handyman, with good payment but nobody and asking around, many Thai houses have the same problem...Nobody wants just to say... Of course there are good working people, but I can count them on 1 hand in my neighbourhood.

Are you blaming the possibility of the failed MFP coalition on PTP and not the junta for the controversial senate appointees? You seem diverting the blame away from the junta.
No surely not... The junta and its senators are the first to blame, but be fair already talking about compromising is too early now... first let them vote the first time on this coalition before talking about give up and compromise for the benefit

Not only that, they buy cars, motorcycles without any money but they have to pay monthly sometimes for 20 years..... and even to kids without a drivers license or with in income that they even can't rent a house with.

True colors of Pheu Thai, as wrote already many times, they are bad losers and had hoped they would win the elections with a landslide. But it was Move Forward that was the winner. First they have tried to get the house speaker, and when that failed, now they are going for PM, even without Move Forward, instead of keep steady on the 8 party coalition to end the army governing the land. That would be the greatest win. But no the greed for power will put the largest party in the oppostion and keep the country back from going forward, as they say compromising and sacrificing, but not by us but the others, and we will go with the honors

They want to be rich, and live like rich already, but are too lazy to start working. Try to find somebody for whatever and but the payment is always too low or the work is too less to do it. They prefer to do nothing and borrow from family and friends than earn a bit. They only want to have big money..There is start for the solution.

Didn't his dad pardon several people who had been jailed saying it didn't bother him?
It is Prayuth and his cronies who are harsh with section 112 to control the rallies after bannin Mr Thanathorn ande Future Forward party... He and this Government are the only ones to blame that there is a call form reform section 112. Because it is not normal that kids of 14 -18 years are being jailed for this law.. As last week another boy now 19 years old is jailed for section112 for 3 years ago. It shows that this kind of abuse of section112 should be stopped

He is totally right... The old dinosaurs have to get out . It is time to enter the 21st century and the old power, stays far behind. The biggest problem is how to stop them, as they made laws and rules in the years that it is almost impossible to get rid of them. Best example are the 250 senators. A totally new constitution must be written to prevent that coups and army can take over again and that democratic principles will be respected. But the army and the elite have the money, with which they can buy(corrupt) almost everyone/thing. I have faith in a better Thailand when the old guard is gone.

Democracy in Thailand?? in writings yes, in reality no, as we have seen the past weeks already. 250 senators, appointed not elected are holding the country back and will do everything to keep the army in power. Amending laws is forbidden as they have already said that parties that amend section 112 will not be accepted in the Government..

A popularly elected 2/3 majority in Parliament cannot determine who becomes PM. Maybe the word "democracy" should be deleted from the Thai constitution for a better understanding.
not only democracy but constitution too.. Thai laws and rules to prevent civil governments is better

Pheu Thai is very greedy to form a new coalition with the army based parties. Why not an easy solution in my opinion.
Keep the coalition with MFP and the others as they have now and choose for a kind of interim or temporarily PM as long as the cases for and against Pita have been solved. if Pita indeed unconstitutional was treated last Wednesday he still can become PM. If the ITV shares are being rejected by the CC he can be MP and PM and if his case against the EC is cleared, maybe new elections have to follow. In the case of an interim PM Thailand can go forward, It will stop the caretaker Government now still in power, and maybe it can silence the rallies, which is good for everyone. Besides that if the Government mange to keep the senators away from the PM election there is nothing that holds Pita back. In the case the should be convicted for his mediashares and banned the interim PM can become the official PM and everybody happy.

Don't let the military win and get back in the Government..They have showed already they are not democratic worthy.. Section 112 needs to be reformed and Pheu Thai don't need to do it, but can't block MFP from doing it. If the coalition now formed stays together it is a clear sign that both parties respect the vote of the public. If Pheu Thai decides to reject MFP and works with the armybased parties again, it will not be accepted, and be a shame for will of public. But Pheu Thai must not forget that the Governments they had were always ended by a coup. So why should they now work together??

I think that if the CC is going to look into the case they will find so much that affect the senators, that as a way of "kindness" they want to solve the things in the parliament, so that everybody stays happy...
