  2. There goes 80 billion down the toilet ???? Great work there Joe Biden...you're a shoo-in for re-election ????????????
  3. Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital Like the American helicopters that swooped above Baghdad (2x) and Kabul (and Panama City, Grenada, Beirut, Santo Domingo, the Bay of Pigs, Mogadishu, and many other places countries) ???? https://www.infoplease.com/history/us/major-military-operations-since-world-war-ii
  4. Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law takes effect today. Except it doesn't say that...and what it does say is supported by most Floridians. 51% back a ban on teaching on sexual orientation and gender identity from kindergarten through third grade https://morningconsult.com/2022/03/16/florida-desantis-dont-say-gay-bill-survey/
  5. The Democrat Party dog and pony distraction show doesn't seem to be having its intended affect ???????? Source: Politico
  6. Nope...pretty boring spent youth; and I'm still alive and kicking at 57 and even dodged such dangerous swimming pools in Thailand the last 20 years.
  7. The fake or out of date visas they sell are pretty dicey too...and it's not like you can go to the police and report oneself for attempted corruption of a government official ????
  8. There are two interpretations of this requirement: statement pages going back 3 month (the 800k deposit "seasoning" period) or back 1 year (last visa renewal). I go with one year as it covers both.
  9. For most people, it's easier (and safer) to just copy all pages of the passport (which should include the visa transfer info if original "O" visa is in an expired one) and let them toss out any they don't want. At 2 baht a copy at most shops and at immigration, it's the easy route. The official in room 106 said he wanted copies of all the pages (and the original visa isn't on the first page) so I had to trundle over to the copy desk and make them.
  10. No not for retirement...some offices require it for marriage extensions.
  11. It's stated on the information sheet given out at the information desk for "retirement visa" extensions. If using the bank method, don't take the documents listed and get the brush back. It's up to you.
  12. All the documentation listed is required...as is ALL the passport pages.
  13. If the visa stamp has been transfered to a new passport then yes this is correct. Also paid 1900 not 1999 ????
  14. I think that's pretty much the case with all airlines with what they been through the past two years...all gone downhill in tandem so SQ still pretty much top of the heap.
  15. An FYI for anyone interested...renewed my "retirement visa" for the second year today in Phuket (Saphan Hin) without issue. The following is what they required: 1. TM.7 Application 2. Photo (1) ???? 3. 1999 THB 4. Bank Book- copies of name page AND all pages going back a year to the date of the last renewal 5. Bank Statement - Official bank print-out of account transaction history going back to date of last renewal 6. Bank Letter - Official bank letter confirming bank balance (no older than 7 days from application date) 8. Passport - Copies of all pages of the passport containing the "O" visa used when applying for the first "retirement" extension of stay. If this is not the current passport, copies of all pages of the prior passport(s) containing the visa. [I believe this latter requirement is the case, though it doesn't apply to me as my current passport contains the visa used for my first extension.] I believe that is everything; I was in/out in 30 minutes and staff were all helpful and pleasant. Passports are ready the next day after 1 p.m. There is a sign to dress appropriately with no singlets or tank tops and no short-shorts for women. Shorts are okay for men. Interestingly, there is no "proof of residence/address" document required (as it is in Pattaya...at least when I last renewed there 3 years ago). I was made to read and sign the attachment below.
  16. Good thing I bought mine already...SQ must be monitoring this forum ????
  17. I was pricing Aseana because they usually have competitive prices trans-pacific but no real savings and their hard and soft products have really declined over the years. I was originally going to book PE at about 60k but will likely book Biz as this SQ fare is too good to pass up.
  18. Most travelers would be more than happy to spend 5 hours relaxing in the Kris Flyer Business Class lounge at Changi Airport so would probably consider the more expensive price and shorter transit time a negative...on a flight of this length (about 20 hours or so) two hours makes no difference. As can be seen below, other dates/prices for this SQ flight are up to 200k (and even 250k - Business not First/Suites - on other not shown dates); so 113k is cheap as chips for this flight on one of the most consistently highest rated airlines in the world.
  19. Multiple news outlets have reported an estimated 100 foreigners in Phuket, who didn't qualify for a visa to reside Thailand so paid an agent to "fix it" for them, have allegedly been defrauded by a visa agency There...fixed the headline ???????????? Funny these people seem to be upset that the agency they were paying to commit fraud on their behalf have in fact been defrauded by this agency ????????????
  20. For my upcoming trip to San Francisco, I found return fares on SQ for 38k economy, 57k premium economy, and 113k for business class...all quite reasonable for this flight.
  21. I thank President Biden and his Democrat Party for the raging inflation...trillions in "stimulus" giveaways (and checked on pouring 3 trillion more on a shortage choked economy by the GOP). Then he has the brilliant idea of placing economic sanctions on one of the world's top producers/exporters of oil, natural gas, potash, fertilizers, and wheat causing the price of all to skyrocket making Russians richer and everyone else in the world poorer by setting off huge price inflation on these critical primary commodities ????????????
  22. Actually 5 hours is almost the shortest transit time SQ has on this flight (one is shorter at 3 hours); most of the others are much longer, with the longest at 44 hours. These other flights, on the same day, are 135k. No, it's something with the travel date (or a mis-price), as the price for all other days in the month range from 135k to over 150k.
  23. Sorry your foreign currency hedge flipped on you...I'd be down on the dollar too if I bet against America.
