Thailand 300 baht entry fee for tourists set to start in early 2023
Hamus Yaigh replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sounds like a deal! I'll be flying in and plan to stay several years on my Non O extensions so that according to news I'll be "eligible for a maximum of 500,000 baht for medical expenses should they have an accident or fall ill". All for 300THB until I leave or die! Have I thought this through correctly?- 140 replies

I'm not in Rawai or even Phuket but we have gas delivery guys around our way. Just phone them up, they bring a full bottle, fit it and take the old.

OK, went during this week to Bangkok#3 DLC as a walk in. There is absolutely no point in booking an appointment on line as PJ71 says. No one was using an appointment system and there were no signs to separate appointed times only. One has to attend several counters and the physical tests room like everyone else walking in. There is now a very strict document check before you start the process. Once all docs are correct, the process was quite fast at first with no waiting queues, until one reaches the final counter where they take your photo and produce the license. This last counter took one hour queuing time as only one or two of the available counters had anyone manning them. Total time start to finish was 1hr 20m for me.

Why does McDonalds cost so much in Thailand?

Perhaps the Thai baht is overpriced? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Mac_Index -
I have a QR code for passing the driving license video from about 4 months ago and at the time made a booking online for a September appointment at Bangkok#3 DLC. However I cannot find a record for the appointment now or know how to retrieve it online? Is it possible? I visited https://gecc.dlt.go.th/ which seems to only offer options to make a new appointment in months to come. The site also seems to remember my pp number/name but I used my Thai ID# when I booked the appointment as I couldn’t see how to use pp# at the time. Should I just go and get a medical and do a walk in? Will they take me on any day? I cannot go in September now anyway as I will now have to be away at that time. My 5Yr DL expired last April.

I've heard of Tukcom but not TUTCOM if that helps? -
I've recently had a 5th jab, all from the Thai govt free of charge, started with the two Sinovacs which was all there was at first. Main reason is its a condition of employment required for occasional work in my field which is overseas and requires an up to date vaccine record to be considered. I need to feed the wife and kids, 'nuff said. I couldn't give a hoot about the anti and pro vax agenda driven narratives.

We live in the NE of Bangkok district. They still have rice fields nearby and it is very pleasant, so you don't have to live in another province to find quiet. Just hear the birds in the garden/parks. It takes 40 minutes to drive into the CBD along expressway when not peak time, but we tend to park and ride the BTS if we have to come in, which isn't very often these days.

They have regulations in my condo that there should be no gas cooking. They haven't put a ban on EV charging yet. Just a matter of time I guess. -
how come bitcoin isn't doing better?

Crypto value is based on a greater fool theory. It's value is hoped to increase based on some fool paying more than you did. There just aren't enough fools around these days with money to burn. -
Aeroflot to Resume Moscow-Phuket Flights in October

Agreed, and this was my point. The o/p doesn't state any of this. It does state however: Preferable to getting drafted into a genocidal war. -

But the op says "The airline’s Moscow-Phuket service was suspended in March following the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which triggered European Union sanctions against Russia, including aviation sanctions. " so Thailand must have followed the sanctions until now? -

If nothing has changed, which I agree - nothing has changed the Russians are still invading another country, why isn't the news article quote above still in place and sanctions still in place? -

The war is still happening so what's changed? -
I read the full story in o/p and no where does it say the flight from DMK took 4 hours! If anything it took 7 years? Such is the standard of news reports we rely on. >> "the decision to evacuate the passengers was made more than an hour after the 7-year-old Nok Air flight DD108 skidded off the runway."
