  1. One of the neighbors who has a few baht spare plus some, already taken it into his own hands had got the abandoned place cleaned out by gardeners at his own expense. They were saying snakes already have moved into long grass, and worrying his dogs. He's looking for some cooperation from other neighbors to fell the trees next that will become hazards in time to come from falling into homes or bringing down the roadside overhead power lines....tbc
  2. How ironic. Another warning not to copy the antics of Joe Ferrari from the videos freely available on the internet beckons as well.
  3. I expect the great majority of that 1.7M is people who got 2 sinovac jabs when Thailand first started giving jabs (i.e., medical and other key frontline workers).....when they only had Sinovac jabs to give. Double Sinovac jabs will be widely spread amongst the entire populous with so many doses administered. The chart below (https://covidtracker-th.netlify.app/) from a couple weeks ago shows 18 million doses of Sinovac. The country has started booster shots for general public at Bang Sue this past week for 2xSinovacs but the registrations are only for Thai not foreigners like me who had 2xSinovac jabs via ThailandIntervac since last June here with no option to get a booster.
  4. My Thai bank credit card is based on the balance in a fixed deposit account at the bank. You need a minimum 50kTHB in the fixed deposit account to get a credit card with a limit to the value of the fixed deposit account. Age doesn't come into it.
  5. I guess YMMV. For most of us, besides this Swiss dude, I'd say this is not the norm. Depends how you pick 'em tho I guess.
  6. Yes, I am sure this is the only way in the case I mention. Will see what happens and update this thread, probably in a year or two to come!
  7. Our private school in Bangkok with 70% English 30% Thai has just finished a long term May-Oct where every lesson was online at home with teachers teaching from their homes. The school building was never used. The next term offers the same with no news on a reopening. In mean time the fees remained 100% pre pandemic. So the parents spent more with home computers, home class rooms and food as well as needing to keep a minder at home whilst paying the same school fees. During home schooling the teachers and kids seemed to get along well and progress, but many families, including us, have objected to the fees remaining unchanged and removed their kids from the school entirely after end of term exams, to continue online schooling with other organizations that offer only online systems at a fraction of the price.
  8. No the o/p refers to a L&H project in Bangkok. I am sure the situation happens everywhere as attested by the responses here thanks. It's quite a large gated community of over 800 homes, some only finished this year, some going for 30mTHB with multiple luxury cars in driveways down to the cheapest 6mTHB units. Out of 800 perhaps only 4 or 5 have been left in this abandoned state and the one I refer to is the only one I am aware of that the bank has taken back and put notice on the gate. I saw the house when it was brand new for sale and it cost 7.6mB about 10 years ago. There's quite a lot of cash in the kitty from all these home annual maintenance fees, so I expect at the next meeting (whenever that is) the subject of abandonment/bank ownership will be raised. It's all in Thai and I am not an owner here so won't be involved directly. It would seem easy for an otherwise well funded/maintained gated community to pressure the bank and tidy up their jungle spots on abandoned homes I would have hoped. This eyesore also overlooks a central public park area so should be well noticed. Though the community maintenance fees are not related to my o/p and abandoned homes, they do have a reasonable system where each home has a community sign attached to each front gate post each year in a new color to let everyone know inc the garbage collectors and public gardeners if fees are paid. I have not noticed anyone who hasn't paid their fees.
  9. The occupants reportedly said so as they packed their belongings, uninstalled all 8 aircons and left. Presume the bank has the keys now.
  10. I suppose this would be the best approach since the previous owners no longer are responsible having lost the property to the bank lender. A shame really as the old owners kept the place very nice, they just ran out of cash in the current knockdowns and the house is now empty and going to ruin with the banks in charge. I expect the immediate neighbors will just scale the walls and enter themselves sooner or later, as there will be no solution immediately forthcoming, to avoid the mess and hazard extending into their homes next door.
  11. There's an abandoned home in our gated Land And House community, the owner ran away unable to meet the mortgage repayments. Now there's a notice from the bank on the front gate which I expect will never change. In the mean time whilst the public park areas are neatly maintained by gardeners, the abandoned house has been left with the vegetation to grow wild. In time to come it will become a hazard with overgrown trees, hedges and grassland. My question is how is this kind of situation normally handled by the local gated community? The immediate neighbors will be at higher risk, but shouldn't the entire house estate management take care of such matters much like the public park areas?
  12. Eh? They just gave me two Sinovacs before any Pfizers were spoken of arriving in the country.
  13. There is nothing clear here. The wife said so "he tried to initiate a relationship with her but she declined his advances. She would meet him in the village and say hello, that was all."
  14. I've heard of that in the American justice system. I bet the defendant has, too. But he's not in America. 'innocent until proven guilty' is also an international human right under the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 11 so not just an Americanism.
  15. Hows this for logic? Last week I got an annual extension with the TM7 and each year my TM7 is filled in neatly by me on a PC using a PDF editor and I include my mobile phone number at the top of the page as they always ask for this. This time they still asked for my mobile phone number! I pointed to it, but the IO said it should be written at the bottom of the page near my signature, not at the top. So I wrote it in my barely legible handwriting again and then the IO proceeded to try and read this hand written version whilst transcribing it to her log.
  16. Overly pedantic IMHO, but maybe its just me? Surely the o/p knows this and he is actually getting the form (TM8) first like he says, fills it in and gets a stamp in pp. Now I'm being pedantic, must be infectious????
  17. The Thai govt already gave me two Sinovacs and I was thinking ahead of them a couple of months ago and booked my own Moderna booster. Think I would rather that than an AZ booster?
  18. You should have a MOPH certified vaccine cert already with two jabs?
  19. Android boxes are nothing more that small computer boxes that run Android so of course they are available. Just like you find on a phone or even on a Windows PC with an Android emulator. All you need then is to install the application to run your TV channels of choice. Many applications run on Android but they also run on other operating systems as well. I am currently watching all the latest sports channels that may be on the Fox network also on a Windows PC at the moment as I have some other jobs to do on the PC at the same time. When I go to another part of my house I can watch the same channels on an Android box attached to a flat screen TV with the family. If I go for a dump I can switch to the app of the same service on my mobile device. You just need to sign up for an IPTV service provider and get all the thousands of channels you want.
