  1. If the current UK crackpot government remain on their current trajectory then I can see the pound sinking below the dollar before the next general election.
  2. Wow you can tell all that just from a single photograph? Amazing.
  3. The e-visa can only be applied for by residents of the country in which the service is available. So any nearby country having launched the system or not is irrelevant.
  4. When you questioned my comment the first time, I kind of got the impression that you didn't t have much idea how many people in this country live on a day to day basis. With this new comment I am now 100% sure. So, just to help out one last time, the reason people with a small local coffee-delivery business (and I hope you understand that this particular business was just an example) can't use Kerry to make thier deliveries around town is that is costs money! Thus they have to increase the amount they charge and lose a significant competitive advantage.
  5. Not everything has to be physical, or even for your own benefit. Learn a craft or instrument, renovate your home, start a charitable project for those less well off than you, oversee the building of a man cave, learn to cook and prepare some expensive exotic foods that aren't otherwise available where you live, study a subject that's of interest to you, embark on a vanity and eco-friendly project and have a 100ft statue of yourself erected in a small solar power covered templet in your garden... Those are just from the top of my head. And anybody who isn't physically impared have even more choices available. Admittedly if you're retired you can do some of those things without needing extra money. But for those of us who still have to earn our money, additional income can of course reduce the amount of time we spend working and therefore dedicating more time to undertaking such activities.
  6. Totally agree. I have no sympathy for people who have money but are still bored. Honestly it's not a case of them being bored, it's simply a case of them being boring. There's a whole world off opportunities that having more money affords people. There's no need to be doing the "same <deleted>". If you've got money, you've got a great big bunch of keys to open a whole load of doorways. If you really can't think of anything to do with your money then give it to me, or hotandsticky; we'll do a far better job with it! ????
  7. Ah. I see. It's specifically for the Bang Sue venue. Still, useful to know for a lot of people, I guess.
  8. Yes I'll elaborate, if it's that difficult to comprehend.... Mr Somchai has access to the family vehicle for taking the kids to school and running errands when needed. Most of the time, however, the vehicle is used by the family business to deliver coffee bags to customers. If Mr and Mrs Somchai would love to take this kids away for a long weekend, however if they take the care, the rest of the family will no longer be able to deliver coffee bags to customers. Therefore the financial penalty for taking the car on holiday is too big to justify. I honestly didn't think it was that difficult a concept to grasp...
  9. The family/village car may be required for other purposes and cannot be out of action for the period of travel without incurring major financial penalties. It also makes sense to take a coach and depend on public transport upon arrival if you expect a large percentage of your holiday to involve consuming alcohol. Although I doubt many people on these coaches will go through this particular thought process.
  10. Nice bunch of stereotypes there.... I think you'll find it's pitta bread, though.
  11. What's this? How do you make an appointment for vax in the AIS app?
  12. How many times have I read quotes like this over the last 10 years...? As always, I hope you're right. As always, I doubt you are.
  13. If you have a valid tourist visa you will get 60 days on entry. This can be extended at immigration for another 30 days. There's no need to exit the country.
  14. To be fair you didn't actually mention the airport in the opening post, as you claim. You did post in the Phuket section but that fact can be very easy to miss, depending on how your post was navigated to.
  15. They are lowering total passenger predictions based on a reduction in the number of foreign tourists. I don't see any numbers game being played here. (edit maybe you were referring to the last part of the article quoting TAT. If so, then please accept my apologies)
  16. We seem to be going in circles. It's the fact that coconut oil is required at all that puts me off the product.
  17. So wait? Are you now saying coconut oil is not required?
  18. Last time I applied in Hanoi it was a case of apply in the morning of day 1 and collect in the afternoon of day 2. Be aware that the fee must be paid in US dollars, not Thai Baht or VND. And dollars and finding somewhere to change money in Hanoi is extremely challenging.
  19. What technology exactly are you using to contact the dead?
  20. So in order for this to work you need to add coconut oil before mixing it in with your hot drink of choice? That doesn't sound very pleasant at all ????
  21. Live traffic is pretty useful, though... And if I remember correctly from last time I checked, the area you can select for offline is pretty small. I've never had an issues with heat from my phone when using it for a couple of hours in the sun, anyway, so it's no advantage for me to use it offline. The bigger issue I have is when it rains; the screen seems to go crazy registering finger prints all over the place even when not touching it. To combat this I got one of those waterproof transparent wallet/money/phone holders that are popular during sonkran, cut a small gap to allow it down on the stand, and I cover the screen with that.
  22. Yes but Google maps, the software that 99% of people use for navigation, requires an internet connection for most functionality. I never said the apps aren't running in the background (although technically most of them aren't always running in the background; they mostly use Google's notification system which is a tiny service that takes no significant amount power to operate). The authors of the operating system on your phone are way more clever than you or I, and apps are automatically hibernated when not needed and awoken when they are. If you force stop your apps, the OS will most likely just need to use additional power to start the background services up again. And you have no real control over that process.
  23. Turn off WiFi/turn on flight mode and use the navigation facilities.... how? Switching to a battery saver mode will dim the display to a level which will make it unusable in the sunlight. Android already manages background apps for you, and manually shutting them down is more likely to increase power consumption than decrease it.
  24. Yes there are. That doesn't automatically mean that both sides have merit.
  25. Obviously not, otherwise it would have been mentioned in the story. I guess that, surprise, surprise, men[and women, to a far lesser degree] are also capable of thinking that "they can do this weird, inappropriate stuff".
