  1. It's good that you care what your wife thinks in such situations and look to please her. Not.
  2. On burgers in general the wonderful Jetstar were 6 hours late on a flight last year so I got a voucher for AUD$10 and bought a burger and fries for more than the $10 at Bangkok airport. Had never had Burger king and it was horrible tasteless nothing except for the excess salt. Using that as a guide this burger would be appalling.
  3. Get a job hippie. If necessary back in your home country. Too much time to think.
  4. I look at woke as being people falling over themselves to impress others, and show they are open and free, and do so for all sorts of reasons. But many people who actually want to do good and who do do good get lumped in with them. Is woke people really something to worry about. If someone is a bit over zealous does it make a bit of difference. Have trans people had any impact on your life. I find it hard to see why people get so passionate about such a minor thing in society. So many other things to get excited about.
  5. When I first went to my wife to be's home she told me dad would like you to take him a few places. I said no worries. He took me to a few places with rubber tree farms for sale and I said thank you for showing me but I am not interested in buying a farm in her name at this time.
  6. Nice small city. I wouldn't call it boring because it is not disappointing at being what it is. Big but low rise British buildings and signs of Commonwealth history. Beautiful nature and coast line. Saw an Orca whale in the sea near there. Not too far from Vancouver or Seattle.
  7. I never give confused, sad, or smiley faces unless I think it's actually funny as I think it is bad form. I get that some posts, including some of my own that I read later, are a bit confusing or wordy, or all over the place. I can understand people don't want to debate some obscure point, or try and make sense of a post by replying, but would like to send the message - that post is confusing.
  8. If you write a bad review that is based in reality and not over the top you won't have a problem in my opinion. The one case involving a hotel taking action against a reviewer, for a hotel in Koh Chang a few years ago, involved a review that was over the top and made direct somewhat unreasonable comments against staff. It was fair that they attempted to get the review removed but went too far by having the person prosecuted, in my opinion, and paid a significant price in bad press for some time. Still that hotel has a banner warning reviewers on Tripadvisor, but the hotel has since updated their name, and reviews under the new hotel name do not have that banner. Doubt it would happen a second time.
  9. Brisbane's not bad. Bigger and cooler than it was before. Gold coast and Sunshine Coast nearby. Seems good during a cold Melbourne winter.
  10. Seems like the ongoing obvious signs of aging are not going to result in Democrats as a whole acknowledging a younger candidate is appropriate so we all watch on and wonder if either he can pull it together for an election, or if there is a bigger stumble and he'll either accept or be forced to accept, that he has to pass the baton to someone else.
  11. In the 80's I did trips through Indonesia Thailand and Myanmar. Lots of out of the way places. Now I don't believe I'll find something interesting to me in such places though the outlook might be nice. Prefer to go to Koh Chang with lovely mountains and nice beaches and relax in nice hotels with my girlfriend. Sylvan has an excellent breakfast buffet.
  12. Small or big changes in diet and exercise might help. First time I got back swimming and got under a bench press after a long break it felt good and made me want to keep it up. Diet doesn’t need to be super healthy - along with normal stuff add some more greens, brown rice, dark chocolate. Less alcohol. If changes like that become impossible maybe you need some help. Secondly it can be good to stop trying.. to be friendly, amusing, manly whatever. Stop trying and get your feet back on the ground so to speak.
  13. Become closer to your child. Go out. Play games. Then talk with her and see how the study is affecting her. Some kids thrive. Some kids feel overwhelmed. If the latter find a compromise. Sounds like your relationship can be saved as there are worse things your wife could be doing eg see gambling story. Maybe having more fun with your wife and taking her out might relax her too and make her less intense about the whole thing.
  14. So what do you believe? That men are smarter? Based on what criteria? Is number of inventions a reasonable criteria to measure intelligence? It is surely a form of creativity that may not encompass all aspects of intelligence. Could you be wrong? Could a factor be opportunity over the last few hundred years too? What are the implications of your belief for the way you go about your day and life? Do you think you personally are more intelligent than most or all women because you are a man? Or for other reasons? Maybe your post is meant to be humorous.
  15. You edited your post after I made the next posts so they don't make sense. Oh well. Agoda is so often a lot cheaper now than others especially if through a comparison site. If you choose the pay later option though they will add a sneaky 5 per cent fee.
  16. Could be because you are in Thailand you get different prices. Difficult now as it seems a range of factors affect the price including from where you are booking.
  17. Not from where I am. I have mentioned before you need to book a certain way which is by a comparison site and then to the site in this case being Agoda. I looked a second time and it's gone from AUD 36 to 37 for some reason including breakfast. 37 x 23.5 odd is .. 870 baht. Without breakfast under budget.
  18. How about '12 The Residence Hotel & Apartment' for around 750 or 850 including breakfast if search by Tripadvisor and pick Agoda. Seems popular.
  19. I have full cover in Australia for about 77000 baht per year including extras like dental which will only go up a few per cent per year. Lets say I spend 6 months in Thailand. Keep my home policy. I wish there was a top up policy one could buy for emergency treatments only i.e. for accidents and things whereby you can't get back to your home country. I assume it is not a thing.
  20. Jesus Long Posts Gamma. Long cut short I like Sporcle.com and have learnt the flags of the world, the periodic table, capital cities and countries of the world and there's lots of fun other quizzes depending on your interest. Lots of quizzes to test you word knowledge and similar. Also love the English The Chase show which tests your ability to recall answers fast and under pressure. A further show Letters and Numbers, the Australian copy of a french show, tests your ability to combine letters ... and numbers. Fun.
  21. You might think the left media is in a big conspiracy to save Biden but I bet if there was evidence of wrongdoing papers like the Washington Post and New York Times would love to get the scoop and expose any president left or right. Maybe hold off with the conclusions to wait if there is ever something substantial against Biden himself which so far there is not.
  22. To your last point for me it is not about Trump but his supporters. I get that there could be a person like Trump, but the fact that so many have and continue to support him is bamboozling, and a depressing indictment on aspects of human nature. Also the fact that so many Republican politicians still won't be critical is saddening, though understandable given his popularity, but still speaks of the worst in human nature. So the fascination is not with the flawed pathetic man but with the fact that he still can be so significantly supported.
  23. During covid I did my own thing including walking up this steep forest area and I miss doing that. If they raise the prices too much or I live half time in Thailand I might quit. I think gym is good to get out of the house and go somewhere with one purpose only to get fit.
  24. Talking about gym it does annoy me when the younger guys, who generally seem a bit softer around the edges than my generation, do a set then sit there on their phones for sometimes five minutes, look into space, then do the second set. The gym is busy and need the machine or bench. The girls if hot are in total tight fitting stuff doing squats and other things that I assume build bum muscles. Better not look though. I don't see women trying to be men in Melbourne - Sydney where I think you come from is a bit more loud and outgoing and possibly more uncouth and Aussie Oi Oi in general. All the gender stuff is mainly in the news, and not in day to day lives of most people, designed to upset a certain subset of Asean now posters.
  25. My memory is that you go along way down off the main road. There may be a couple of restaurants but far from the nearest bigger towns at Khlong Prou, Kae Bae or White Sand Beach. No other stores. If have transport no problem. My understanding is it is on the river near the beach and it was a little difficult to actually get to the beach depending on tides. Kind of middle of nowhere but might be nice for that reason. Lots of people said it's a bit run down when I looked at it pre covid but may be better now.
