Informative article, for a minute there I thought it was going to be another of those alarmist left-wing articles promoting anthropological climate change which right now is the least of the world's problems.

That's really not good! It sounds like there's a rogue foreigner on the loose in Pattaya. He's possibly only like that from being stuck in a sterile emasculated western country for so long during covid and is feeling disoriented about what best to do in Pattaya. Luckily there's enough girls to go around for everybody even nutjobs and they should be competent enough to quickly relieve his pent up stress.

Actually, this is an excellent outcome. Most times this headline would read as '14 people killed when truck overturns' Then there would be the usual pictures of multiple bodies lying side-by-side on the road covered in sheets. Usually it would also involve a squashed motorcyclist as well who had been overtaking on the inside when the truck overturned. Plus throw in a couple of innocent bystanders who may have been crossing the road there. So the fact that no one was killed here is a bloody miracle.

I don't buy this at all. Will Smith was laughing hard at the joke just like everyone else till he looked over at his wife and saw the expression on her face. Most Indian males are quite ugly in the eyes of Thai girls, many have large pot bellies and almost always a strong body odour follows them. Indian culture is male dominated and patriarchal, often they don't know how to properly treat girls. They can be cheap charlies and it is well known for them to share their drinks and girls, often seen negotiating to take a single girl between 4 or 5 men. Thai girls are many things, but they are not stupid and they see all this.

To those of us who grew up in the Pax Americana era, both of these are an anathema to us, as they invariably concentrate power and fabulous wealth at the very top few, whilst the other 99% of the nation scrapes by at or just above poverty level. In regards to the American invasions of Arab states, the Gulf War was done to protect Kuwait against a completely unprovoked and unjustified Iraqi invasion. The second invasion was done because of the belief that Iraq were holding large stores of WMDs. This was understandable since Hussein had already used those weapons against his own people. But it was never intended to be a permanent occupation. It was a force sent in to cleanup corruption and restore order. For the most part, America has acted as a kind of benevolent big brother figure, allowing most countries around the world to flourish under their world order and become quite rich in doing so. China is a perfect example of this. The problem we're facing now is that these authoritarian states have become inordinately rich and simply don't wish to respect the world order. They want to seize power and land thought to the use of violence and destroying other sovereign countries. It's actually a fact that some people crave mega rules and thrive under authoritarian rule. All decision making is taken out of their hands and the state provides a huge amount of their day to day needs. My father is like this. He can't tell a lie, he can't break even the most insignificant rule. He would do well under authoritarian rule. But for the majority of us, we want to leave a life of freedom. Democracy is not perfect and has many flaws. It takes a high degree of personal responsibility and decision making to thrive under democracy, but at LEAST YOU'RE FREE!

If Russia is counting you as a friend, then you know deep down inside that you're doing something wrong. Talk about setting a low benchmark for your country... Is Thailand so desperate for tourists that they would side with a psychopath?

That's nuts. I'm sorry to say it, but you don't have long in this world if you continue to do that. You should cease and desist immediately and at least try to ride in the daylight after the morning rush is over. I can't think of a more dangerous activity than riding in Pattaya in the dark at that time of morning. I used to drive in the very early morning from Naklua to Laem Chabang through the backstreets of Banglamung and I can tell you there were plenty of accidents.

Tragic, this really made me emotional. This poor lady was looking after her elderly mum & dad, a mentally handicapped daughter and her grandson, who is now lying in hospital in a grievous condition. So many lives torn apart by this one incident, but what makes it worse is that this is an already poor family. Who will take care of mum & dad? Who will take care of the disabled daughter? Who will look after the little boy in hospital? Everyone here is vulnerable. I just hope that help is available on the ground for these guys.
