  1. But other factors count Elevated levels of CO2 from climate change may enable plants to benefit from the carbon fertilization effect and use less water to grow, but it’s not all good news for plants... Nitrogen limitations Researchers that studied hundreds of plant species between 1980 and 2017 found that most unfertilized terrestrial ecosystems are becoming deficient in nutrients, particularly nitrogen. They attributed this decrease in nutrients to global changes, including rising temperatures and CO2 levels. https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2022/01/27/how-climate-change-will-affect-plants/
  2. No wonder Melania always poses in such carefully lit photos with artfully applied makeup.
  3. Impeach Doug Emhoff. Also anyone who a civil court has decided has committed rape.
  4. It's obvously implicit in what you wrote. For instance "ban combustible engines". What authorities have proposed banning combustion engines in the short run? Or "no more ships transporting goods around the world." Over time, these modes of transportation can be replaced. But to state it baldly without qualifications as you do is just ridiculous.
  5. And, as Helene showed, it's not just coastal regions threatened by hurricanes. As the atmosphere grows warmer, it can absorb more water leading to widespread and destructive flooding.
  6. What's that got to do with your ridiculous assumption that change is going to be drastically over a few years? As for the Krakatoa thesis, what lunatic source did that come from?
  7. Some else who doesn't understand the crucial difference between change and rate of change.
  8. Anyone you know personally...that's a great recommendation.
  9. Actually, neither Harris nor Trump has a good record on free speech. Unless you believe that Trump's call to take away the licenses of various broadcasters was done in the defense of free speech. "Trump likewise champions freedom of speech for himself and his allies while attacking it when it protects his critics and political opponents. If Trump had his way, flag burners would be jailed, purveyors of “fake news” would lose their broadcast licenses, and news outlets would have to pay him damages when their coverage strikes him as unfair. Only “stupid people,” Trump averred in July, think flag burning is a form of constitutionally protected expression, as the Supreme Court has twice ruled. Those “stupid people” include the late Justice Antonin Scalia, whom Trump described as “a great judge” and the model for his Supreme Court appointments." https://www.ocregister.com/2024/10/10/neither-harris-nor-trump-is-a-friend-of-free-speech/ Anyway, why does an obvious non-American like you take such an interest in American politics?
  10. Clearly, reading is a challenge for you. I never wrote that Democrats don't gerrymander. Just the republicans do it a lot more. And that they're even willing to violate the law in Ohio to do it. You're the one who raised the issue of court packing. If it's not a real thing, why did you raise it? And if it's not a real thing, then why does it have a definition: the act or practice of packing (see pack entry 3 sense 1) a court and especially the United States Supreme Court by increasing the number of judges or justices in an attempt to change the ideological makeup of the court https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/court-packing And given the right wing nature of the current supreme court, it's not surprising that it would disagree with the 9th. But what is shocking is that the justices on the 5th court are so incompetent that even the right wing Supreme Court consistently shoots their arguments down. As for climate change...you unloaded a bunch of phrases with no coherent connections. I assume you are referring to some right wing characterization of Harris' program. That kind of code may make sense to you but for those of us who don't engage in the conspiracy theory sources and such that you resort to, they make no sense. Such characterizations don't count as evidence. Evidence is about facts, not about characterizations. And I still get a laugh out of your claim that total FEMA aid to those afflicted by the latest disasters was limited to $750. As for me being a foreigner, by which I guess you mean a non-citizen of the US, it's not me who clearly lacks a basic understanding of the First Amendment to the Constitution. That would be you. No genuine American citizen could possibly be so ignorant.
  11. Gerrymandering is ovewhelmingly a Republican practice. In states like Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas. As you clearly don't know, the Florida legislature had a plan to gerrymander congressional districts. But it wasn't extreme enough for Desantis who altered it to be even more extreme. In Ohio, the legislature has actually violated the state constitution to commit gerrymandering and continues to do so despite court orders. In Arizona Republicans actually fought to overturn a referendum passed by voters that authorized non-partisan creation of Congressional districts. Whereas in New Jersey, progressive Democratic legislators allied with Republicans to stop an attempt to gerrymander by the Democratic leadership. As for packing the courts by Democrats? What planet do you live on? What was Trump engaged in during his term. The 5th Circuit Court apppointees are so extreme that even the extreme right wing Supreme Court has repeatedly overturned their decisions. I have no idea what you're on about climate change. We do know that under Trump references to human caused climate change was eliminated from EPA documents and that findings by scientists were censored. Not surprising given that he appointed a coal industry lobbyist to be head of the EPA>.
  12. In special elections after 2022 midterms, Democrats consistently outperformed the polls. Their outsized turnout was credited to the Dobbs decision. We'll have to wait and see what effect it has on the 2024 elections.
  13. Given your recourse to another insult questioning my mastery of the subject, i guess it's time to remind you once again of your utter cluelessness and shamelessness. How can you not be embarrassed by your previous display of ignorance? Here, once again is the quote from you: "You don't even know the issues surrounding NY Times vs Sullivan well enough to differentiate them from First Amendment Litigation. Study up, Ill wait for you at the big boy table." So, let me remind you once again. The 1st Amendment lies at the heart of NY Times vs. Sullivan. That you think it's not a first amendment issue, says a lot about you. Desanitis wants to gut the NY Times vs Sullivan. In other words, he wants to empower politicians to quell dissent via defamation lawsuits. And, of course, you have no answer for the fact that, unlike in California, in Florida Desantis is threatening to criminalize free speech. His regime is actually threatening to prosecute people.
  14. Her courageous resignation in protest against the Bush administration's dishonesty in pushing for the Iraq war will always be an inspiration to all of us who are fans of the former national security advisor and Secretary of State.
  15. Whether or not I'm an American is irreleant. It's the facts that are relevant. That said, given your lack of basic understanding of the First Amendment, if anyone's American citizenship should be questioned, it's yours. And just to make clear how ignorant you are here's what you wrote. "You don't even know the issues surrounding NY Times vs Sullivan well enough to differentiate them from First Amendment Litigation. Study up, Ill wait for you at the big boy table." What follows is taken from the text of the Supreme Court decision: Held: A State cannot, under the First and Fourteenth Amendments, award damages to a public official for defamatory falsehood relating to his official conduct unless he proves "actual malice" -- that the statement was made with knowledge of its falsity or with reckless disregard of whether it was true or false. Pp. 376 U. S. 265-292. https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/376/254/
  16. Vox got it's facts straight. And it takes a major league ignoramus to not know that Sullivan is a core free speech first amendment case. New York Times v. Sullivan (1964) New York Times v. Sullivan (1964) is a landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision holding that First Amendment freedom of speech protections limit the ability of public officials to sue for defamation. https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/new_york_times_v_sullivan_(1964)#:~:text=Sullivan (1964) is a landmark, officials to sue for defamation.
  17. More nonsense from you. The California law only allows for civil lawsuits against defenders. Desantis is threatening people with actual criminal prosecution and prison. What's more this isn't Desantis' first attempt at free speech suppression. Previousl he also wants to make it easier to sue people who criticize public officials. Ron DeSantis’s plan to strip First Amendment rights from the press, explained Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis wants to eliminate the First Amendment safeguards that prevent lawsuits seeking to strong-arm the press into silence. He’s been very clear about this goal: In February, DeSantis led a roundtable discussion brainstorming ideas to weaken the press’s First Amendment protections. Flanked by a panel dominated by defamation plaintiffs and lawyers, the Orbánesque governor attacked the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in New York Times v. Sullivan (1964) for, in his words, empowering a media that will “find a way to smear you.” https://www.vox.com/politics/23622299/ron-desantis-first-amendment-press-new-york-times-v-sullivan
  18. Is Florida’s middle class shrinking? According to the Pew Research Center, their analysis of government data revealed that the number of adults in middle-class households has dropped from 61% in 1970 to 50% in 2021. Claar said a shrinking middle class is a concern. The U.S. Census says the average median income for households in Florida from 2017-2021 was $61,777. With rising inflation, cost of housing and daycare people find themselves paying more out of pocket now than ever before. https://winknews.com/2023/10/30/florida-middle-class/
  19. Stop deflecting. Your claim that this area was the only part of Florida that was not booming was false. In fact it is the most economically dynamic area. And as for claims that people are moving elsewhere for cheaper housing...in most if not all of Florida home prices have escalated sharply. "Home values have increased in every American state since 2013, according to a study from Architecture Lab. However, Florida is one of the states where values have increased the most dramatically. Using data from the Zillow Home Value Index, Architecture Lab ranked every U.S. state based on the difference between average home values in 2013 and 2023. Florida ranked No. 2: A decade ago, the average home was valued at $144,464. Last year, however, that value had jumped 164% to $381,922." https://www.floridatrend.com/article/39766/florida-home-values-have-more-than-doubled-in-the-past-decade#:~:text=Using data from the Zillow, had jumped 164% to %24381%2C922.
  20. Florida’s Department of Health is threatening local television stations with criminal prosecution if they continue airing an ad in support of an abortion-rights ballot initiative. The agency earlier this month sent cease-and-desist letters to every television station in the state that aired the ad, warning them that the ads contain false information and violate the state’s “sanitary nuisance laws.” The chair of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) said Tuesday that the threats from Florida government officials undermine the First Amendment. https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/4922941-florida-health-officials-threaten-television-stations-abortion-ad/
  21. Well, what do you expect from a country that has a constitution with not one mention of God in the body of the text? Not one. Clearly, the USA is a nation founded by pagans and satanists. It was only a matter of time before the Whore of Babylon openly ruled the nation whose strings she has secretly pulled since its founding.
