Israel is at War - General discussion (pt3)

Apparently, the mediators don't agree with those assertions. But what is believed is that Netanyahu sabotaged the negotiations. It's amazing how much implicit trust you place in the honorable intentions of that gentleman. I don't think most Israelis share your opinion. -
Nice try: A coalition of leftist parties won the most seats in France’s parliamentary elections, according to projections based on ballot counts, in a stunning come-from-behind victory fueled by a groundswell of opposition to Marine Le Pen’s anti-immigrant forces. https://archive.ph/rKadE https://www.wsj.com/world/europe/french-election-results-2024-4fc64d09?mod=hp_lead_pos3 Did you notice that voter participation surged in the second round in the face of a possible victory by the RN?

What don't you understand about the fact that Netanyahu's statement has been deemed counterproductive to the negotiation process? -

Your questions are irrelevant. What don't you understand about this sentence? "Netanyahu’s statement, at a crucial phase ahead of the resumption of talks, sparked anger, both in Israel and among mediators, with some accusing him of attempting to sabotage hard-won progress." -
What don't you understand about the fact that the statement in question includes recent immigrants even second or third generation. He then goes on to say especially Muslims. But "especially" does not mean "only". Substitute "and especially of the Muslim faith" with "and only of the Muslim faith." If that doesn't make the distinction clear to you, then nothing will.

This is about the negotiations, The negotiators believe Netanyahu's remarks are hurting the negotiations. Does ISW have access to the internal workings of the negotiations? -
Here's what HK McPhooey wrote: "it is a weakness of British democracy that recent immigrants, even second or third generation and especially of the Muslim faith even have the right to vote let alone be allowed stand for any public office when clearly their agenda is to pursue the Islamic cause." Let me help you a little bit "especially" does not mean "only".

Whether or not the gas pipelines were blown up, they already were non-functional. Nord Stream 2 never entered into service. Gazrpom shut down Nordstream 1 for repairs "indefinitelu". Putin thought he could make the Europeans knuckle under by cutting off the gas supply. His gambit failed and Russia became its victim instead. You sure about that? That the fault lies with Hamas this time? It's a good thing that Israel is being led by such an honorable person as Benjamin Netanyahu.. Otherwise, there would be room for doubt. Netanyahu issues list of ‘non-negotiable’ demands as hostage talks slated to restart Ahead of the Israeli negotiating team’s departure for further hostage deal talks in Cairo and Doha later this week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented a list on Sunday evening of what he said were non-negotiable Israeli demands, including a guarantee that Israel could resume fighting, which would need to be met in the event of a hostage release and ceasefire deal with Hamas. Netanyahu’s statement, at a crucial phase ahead of the resumption of talks, sparked anger, both in Israel and among mediators, with some accusing him of attempting to sabotage hard-won progress. The renewed negotiations in both Egypt and Qatar come after the Hamas terror group said on Saturday that it was ready to discuss a hostage deal and an end to the war in Gaza without an upfront commitment by Israel to a “complete and permanent ceasefire,” breaking from the position it has held in all previous negotiations since November. https://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-issues-list-of-non-negotiable-demands-as-hostage-talks-slated-to-restart/ -

Does this quote look familiar? "You can't have a second referendum before the result of the first one is implemented." Actually, you can. In a democracy where refererenda are allowed, it's permissible for the electorate to say "oops" whenever a referendum is brought before them. -

Claiming that because you support democracy in one avenue of governance, but deny it in another, does not make you a supporter of democracy. If the electorate supports a second referendum, it's irrelevant what Remainers have said. What's relevant is what the voters want. By denying UK voters the right to change their minds via a referendum, you are denying them the access to a democratic avenue of governance. That's obviously anti-democratic. -
A tempting proposition since it would mean ruling out this party: "Braverman was born in Harrow, Greater London, and raised in Wembley.[2] She is the daughter of Uma (née Mootien-Pillay) and Christie Fernandes,[3] both of Indian origin,[4][5] who immigrated to Britain in the 1960s from Mauritius and Kenya respectively" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suella_Braverman

What's that got to do with your claim that "the result of the first one hasn't been implemented?" And even if they have been saying it all along, if a majority of the voters now agree with them, why should a referendum be ruled out? It looks like that since the last referendum that you have acquired a convenient allergy to democracy. -

Brext hasn't been implemented? Is the UK still a member of the EU? Are there any major negotiations pending? -

Not just roughly but incompetently, too. Exactly why is a second referendum undemocratic? Are you claiming the the UK electorate doesn't have the right to change its mind via a democratically voted on referendum? Is that your idea of democracy?
