  1. On the other hand trying to secure the forms necessary to apply for a passport or a driving license is an expensive nightmare in PH.
  2. And, for example, the Thaksin governments were shining examples of ethical behaviour? Name me the differences, please?
  3. I seem to remember, some years ago, a tourist tax had to be paid entering the country, 500 baht. Later the 500 were incorporated in the price of the ticket. And now another 300 baht tourist tax? Well done Thailand, exactly what tourism needs.
  4. Most tracks in the provinces are very well maintained, actually. However, metregauge in Thailand and elsewhere, is not really great for anything faster as 150-160 km/h, it can be done but needs a lot of work in bends.
  5. I am not a touristi Thailand. I am an expat and have lived here for 15+ years. I am very content with the Thai people, they are nice to me and I am nice to them. But....... I am not so happy with the authorities of Thailand, changing the rules is not nice, at all. And what hurts most is the double pricing, particularly in hospitals where as a taxpayer I am singled out for higher pricing because I am supposed to be richer. Very unfair!
  6. Many 7/11's in Khon Kaen stock Beer Laos, also the IPA kind which is great.
  7. In fact the dead and the living are taking over........
  8. You might try Lao Beer IPA. Not a lager beer, but no more stomach trouble for me since drinking it instead of Thai beers..... Even Lao Beer Lager might give some relief. Me, I choose IPA.
  9. I wonder...... Thailand has a gauge of 1000 mm. JR Hokkadoi has a gauge of 1067 mm. Don't think that will fit nicely. Or maybe the wheels can be repositioned on the axles? Yes, indeed. As soon as any country builds a high speed rail net the existing lines will generate a loss. Two rail systems in a country is a recipe for disaster.

  11. Medical hub? The pricing nowadays in private hospitals makes medical tourism to Thailand less attractive. There are other countries offering the same for less. Greedy shareholders.........
  12. Never buy from Israel? Then don't go to any hospital when you have medical problems, good chance the machines and medicines are Israeli inventions, don't drive any car with chips in it, don't step in a plane, do away your mobile phone and lots of household electrics and most of all don't depend on your homeland security and army. Most of these have Israeli inventions in it or are made in Israel, or use Israeli technology. No need, really to show your jewhate in an article about Chinese products.
  13. I think the numbers pro and contra are about the same as in any country in the west. However I suspect the nay sayers are not all honest......
  14. Do remember that only 500,000 or even 250,000 is guaranteed. Spread your 800,000 over two or more banks.
  15. My Thailand tax is filed every year with my Thai ID number. No need to apply for a TIN.
  16. What's more, shot itself in both feet with one shot. The way expats are generally treated, expats bringing in an average of 50,000 baht a month and being the best promoters of Thailand, is an example of doing and thinking things wrong.
  17. Yes there are. But legalising porn may lead to a lot of changes in many fields, it might be a breach in the offworld thinking of many.
  18. Really funny! You think there are many politicians that know about the common people? You think Thaksin has any idea, to name but one?
  19. Simple. King Bhumibol had the right ideas Plant trees, millions of trees, all over Thailand. To start with. All that can be done now is battling results.
